Carriage Hill Retirement was good. Our experience was OK except when my mother passed away. She was there for a couple of months. The building was well-built. The rooms were good size. They had good food and my mother liked it. We had Christmas dinner there and there was turkey stuffing and macaroni and cheese. The memory care had limited amenities, but they had a television, a gathering area, and a sunroom. They didn't have any activities in memory care. They just did all these things like we were there for Thanksgiving and Christmas. They did the Thanksgiving meal and at Christmas, they exchanged presents.

I went to look at Carriage Hill Retirement. It was a little run down. All of the rooms that I toured could have used some updates. I just wasn't as impressed with the place. As far as it looks, they seem to have a pretty good staff. The residents didn't look as happy. They didn't seem to be interacting with them as much. The tour guide was really nice. She was very informative and friendly. I really liked her. The outside looks really nice.

Please note, this review is only representative of the assisted living portion of this community (the upper building as it is referred locally). The nursing home facility would not receive the same rating. As a local volunteer, I have visited Carriage Hill on numerous occasions. I have found the residents to be generally happy with the location and the accommodations. The facility appears to be well kept and is generally clean in appearance. There are no odors noted upon walking into the facility. The staff appear to be engaged with the residents. The residents appear to be comfortable with staff members and appear to be well cared for in both appearance and health. The location is somewhat isolated to discourage unwelcome visitors; however, it is conveniently located and easy to find. The grounds are clean of debris on each of my visits. The parking lot is small and can be hard to navigate when full; however, I have not experienced any major issues. As a member of the local community, I have not heard any negative comments in regards to the assisted living portion of this facility. To my knowledge there are no additional amenities such as a pool or garden area.

Markets themselves as a Memory Care Facility but my mother has been there now for 2 months and I do not see where they do any actives that promote memory skills...very disappointed
