My mom is at Sunrise at Holladay. I went and checked out a few, and that just seemed to be the nicest one. They offer mini-classes, and their activities are great. Food is good. My mom's room is just a studio right now; she is waiting for a one-bedroom. They have a fireplace, a nice dining room, an activity room that's nicely done, and they have an outdoor space where they can meet up, which is nice.

Sunrise at Holladay's cost is very high, but their care is very good. The staff was very friendly, very kind and very helpful. The rooms are nice, clean and pretty. The living atmosphere is very good. It was upbeat and happy. The tenants that we met were very satisfied and happy. They have a nice dining area. I know that they have a gym and they have an activities room.

Sunrise at Holladay had a lot of activities. They're redoing some of their places, so it's getting an upgrade. They were taking people up to a bonfire or somewhere up the canyon that evening. They have a salon and libraries. The staff was very accommodating. The apartments were very nice and pretty. They're not huge, but they're very nicely done. They had an exercise room.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

We've moved Mom to Sunrise at Holladay, and it's beyond our expectations. It's just wonderful. She's very happy and well cared for, so we're thrilled. I checked on a few places, but Sunrise just blew us away. We went three times before we committed. When she got there, it was wonderful, so we were very happy. They only have 20 residents in their memory care and they are well-watched and well-cared for. It's really nice. She's in Reminiscence which is the memory care floor. The director of that floor is very personable and on top of everything. Every staff member has been so friendly. They have helpers, CNAs, and people everywhere. There's one that sits down in the little unit by where my mom's room is. There are five other rooms down there and she's there and just kind of monitors things and watches out for needs. They're just awesome. I couldn't be happier. She has a one-bedroom suite. It has a beautiful view of Mount Olympus. She has her own bedroom and a living area combined, and then she has a little kitchen and a bathroom. There are ten rooms down one hall and ten rooms down another hall, so it can hold 20 residents. There are two activity rooms and the dining area is just lovely. It's a big open kitchen with lovely dining. You feel like you're at a little restaurant. It doesn't feel like a care center. This is just lovely. The food is excellent. Every meal isn't my favorite, but they serve salmon filet or fish and chips as a backup to any lunch. If you don't like what lunch is, they come and ask, and she gets to pick what she wants. I haven't eaten dinner there or breakfast. I just had lunch four or five times, but it's excellent food. We're loving the activities. It kind of lit a fire under her. She's kind of alive. They do news and exercises after breakfast, and twice a week, they go on a bus ride and they do some other activities and then lunch at 11:30. After lunch every day, they do bingo. She always loves to play bingo. Then they do an activity, whether it's cooking or art or they do music. It's just full of activities. After dinner, they do spa night and movie night and they watch the Jazz game together. My mom goes to bed quite early, so she doesn't last very long at those evening ones, but it's just full of activities. We just are so happy. Everything revolves around their floor and then they have these two activity rooms, one in between the two halls where they live and the other joins with the lunchroom and that's where they play bingo. Next to that is the seating area for watching Jazz games or a movie. We are just thrilled except for the limited parking. You have to use the mortuary next door most of the time because they don't have enough parking. That is my only negative about the place. The food is not perfect, but it's very good for a facility. It's expensive, but you get what you pay for.

Sunrise at Holladay was marvelous. The staff who we met during the tour was very professional, very warm, and very skilled. They were prepared. They were knowledgeable and helpful. They offered some wonderful services. Overall, it was a very good tour experience. The dining area was very impressive. The grounds were clean and neat. The rooms were good and had a good floor plan. Some residents were upstairs, and they were doing some puzzles. Other residents were playing games that were being led by an activity leader.

Sunrise at Holladay is great. It's just so expensive and it seems like when my mom first moved in, everyone was so warm and friendly. Then as soon as we signed their contract, we never saw the sales manager or whoever was the person we talked to and it was just frustrating. The facility is beautiful. They have tons of fresh flowers. It's great that mom has fresh flowers every day, but it costs a lot of money and I think that money could've gone elsewhere. The staff is great. The food is fantastic. They play bingo every day around 3:00 and go on outings. Her room has an infestation of ants that we cannot get rid of. They're supposed to come in and do a thorough cleaning once a week, but to me, it doesn't look like they do that at all, because every time I go over there, I'm on my hands and knees scrubbing the bathroom floor and the mirrors. I feel like I'm the one that's doing most of the house care. There were a lot of things they didn't tell us upfront that we would qualify for. Like if we wanted them to do my mom's laundry, they could do that, but for the first two months, I did her laundry. There were a lot of hidden situations.

I liked how Sunrise at Holladay had a variety of things to do for the residents. They have places to go where they can go grab a snack or something, it just felt homey. The people that work there were very friendly and very nice. I thought that the size and layout of the apartments were very reasonable for an older person seeking care and help. But I'm influenced by the cost more than anything. I was very impressed with how well-maintained it was.

We went to Sunrise at Holladay. They were very professional, and very friendly, and they still call us just to see how we were doing. They weren't pushy. I do not like over pushy salespeople and they were not at all. They're still our #1 if it does get to a point where my mom does need to move into a facility. They were extremely kind, and they had a very nice, warm, comforting vibe to them. We had dinner there and we got to meet one of their ambassador residents. We got to talk with her for a little while and she got to tell us more about what it was like living there, and it was very nice. They had a kitchenette, a microwave, a coffeemaker, and a little drink area within the apartments with a slender fridge. They had a bunch of different outdoor spaces. They had a big courtyard in the front and a rooftop courtyard. They told us there was another area around the back.

We went to Sunrise at Holladay. When they showed us around, it was great. The overall problem was that they didn't take the insurance for the memory care. They did have the memory care facility there, but it wasn't the right kind of facility for my mom's specific needs. The person who did the tour was great. They seemed great. If I could pay out of pocket, I would have probably put her there. They were really helpful. The atmosphere seemed really nice and comfortable. We didn't get through the tour completely because that's when I found out that they didn't accept her insurance, and so without that, it was kind of a waste of time from there. They had a barbershop or a hair salon; that was nice. They switched up the activities just to get all of those people together to do different things. When I read their board, it seemed to me that they play games and things like that. It was a nice place with things to do, but it's not for us. The staff members were great.

Sunrise at Holladay had a better deal going. It was a beautiful facility. The prices were a little bit cheaper because they had rooms available, and they had incentives. Their memory care was nice. The residents looked happy, and the staff was extremely kind. I did not care for the garden area. It's on the third floor, and it's like a patio upstairs. There's some potted plants, but very little greenery.

We visited the memory care unit of Sunrise at Holladay. The woman who gave us the tour was very knowledgeable. This community was probably our second choice. The room was nice, it's just that my mom likes a lot of light, and they were not as well lit as the other facility we visited. I think they also have a microwave and a refrigerator inside the room.

My brother is at Sunrise at Holladay. Memory care was the first part he moved into, but I don't know if he's still in memory care or not. Our experience has been really good. The only problem we have is we can never get anybody to tell us anything on the phone. They're real abrupt, and when we talk to the nurses they don't easily give you any information. I don't know whether that's because they don't know who we are or what it is. When we visited, we just stayed in the lobby. We couldn't go around to the rooms or anything. He doesn't like it, but he won't like anything because that's the way he is. He's been suffering from depression. We haven't been able to go in at all. Most of the time the staff has been pretty good. The facility is really nice. They have bingo, certain games, and they take them on trips. My brother isn't into all that stuff, so he doesn't participate. They could be a little bit more cordial on the phone and have the nurses and staff be more willing to tell you how the patient is doing.

Sunrise at Holladay was good. It was acceptable. The staff during the tour was excellent. I just need respite care and I just need a place to be post surgery. The rooms were empty, so I couldn't tell much about most of the rooms. The size of the studio was fine. There were different activities like exercises and different classes, but we didn't go into it.

I liked Sunrise at Holladay Salt Lake City, but it was very expensive; not what we were told. It has more of the 55+ kind of residents. I saw more people my age coming and going, like to play tennis or go for a walk. I saw one lady that was sitting in the entry area and I asked how she liked the place and she said "they said there's going to be a movie at 1:00 and I have been sitting here since 1:00 and there's no movie." And it was 1:30 at that point. The girl who was taking us into the tour asked the girl at the front desk if someone was starting the movie and they answered that they forgot. When we came back to the movie area again, the movie was playing but there was nobody there. It seemed like a classy place but it seemed to me like it was all about the 55+ taking care of them and making the place nice for them. I didn't see much being done for the assisted living. The person who helped me during the tour was really nice, but even though we were dressed decently, she kept looking at us like we couldn't afford the place because it's a very elite place. I felt like she was talking down on us a lot. As soon as we mentioned that we're getting insurance for my mother-in-law to help pay for the place, she said "this is a very elite place, I don't know if you can afford it." She showed us a suite with 2-bedrooms in it, living room and kitchen area, we said we don't need that big of a room. She said "I'll tell you the price so you can understand what we're looking at here." I didn't like that.

I chose Sunrise at Holladay because it's a beautiful place, and they are wonderful to me. You couldn't ask for better and warmer people. It's even better than I expected. The food is absolutely wonderful and restaurant quality. The place itself is unbelievable, clean, and a very gorgeous place to live. They have a great variety of activities for anybody to do throughout the day. It's nice that you can be busy if you want to be, or not if you don't want to. The cost is very reasonable for what I'm getting.

Sunrise was a cute little community. It was clean as a whistle. It had beautiful set-up. It was multi-story. The keeper-in-charge and everyone that I talked to in there were just nice. It was just inconvenient to get to. I was very impressed with the one that I talked to. There was nothing negative about it. I knew a lot of people would like to be in a smaller facility as opposed to a large facility. I was more of a person that liked a facility that would be not so small. It had a beautiful area downstairs where they could come and get sweets and goodies. There were not just normal goodies. These were really thought out amazingly good pastries.

Sunrise is by far the best. According to my dad the food is awesome. My dad and mom love to play bingo, and they also have church services. I didn't see their dining area. My mother has been in Sunrise for the last two months. One of the things that really appealed to us was the fact that they have very seasoned staff. They don’t have a large turnover, which speaks volumes to the way that the organization treats their staff. Working in that kind of environment is not always easy, but they have a very seasoned and caring staff. I also like the fact that the grounds of the facility had a very homey, warm, and inviting feeling. The environment was nice. Their food is great with a large selection, and Mom is totally satisfied. Every main meal comes from a standard menu that they have available all of the time with three different entrees to choose from for every meal. They do have a variety of activities that appeals to different people’s interests. My mother personally is not involved in a lot of activities, but that’s by choice. They do have things going on every day like bingo, crafts, meetings, and musical performances. They do take the residents on outings and take them out to lunch. They take them on scenic drives and go to various events. We’ve been 100% satisfied.

My dad made it in Sunrise. When they received him, the circumstances were that they refused him, and then they received him, and then they refused him, and then they received him. He never actually got in and out. He only went in there for like three hours. His furniture was there. We moved him in, and then they moved him out. I would never have anything to do with them ever again. The staff was great -- the ones that interviewed us, getting us in there were great. The facilities were great. The nursing staff that we had contact with was great. Then after my dad went in there, my dad had an episode, and rightfully so, they took him to the VA Hospital at that time. They said that he needed to go from assisted living to memory care. Then they turned around and said that he would not even qualify for that, and then they turned around -- and we're talking about within 24 hours or so -- and said that he would qualify for that if after an interview and their evaluation. So then he went to another hospital, they came over and interviewed, and then that hospital told us that he wouldn't be accepted. And then, Sunrise told us that he would be accepted, and before he got there, he died. The person that was in-charge -- not the one who signed the contract -- told us that under the circumstances, since nothing has ever been there except the furniture, they would only charge us for the remainder of the month, which was two weeks. Now, that person represented, in my opinion, Sunrise. And then, we were told about two weeks later by the administrator that it was not true and they'd charge the full 30 days for other than his furniture being there for about three hours. The Sunrise at Holladay was a nice facility and the people -- other than the people who control the money -- didn't come across as controlling the money. They really come across as caring about the person and that was nice. To me, it looked modern; it looked better than some others that I've seen. If it wasn't for the circumstances, I'd sue them because they had an employee which represented their company, and if she shouldn't have said that, she should have been reprimanded, and that is fine. Although she is to me one of the nicer people in the whole place, but to me they scream of money.

I visited Sunrise at Holladay for my mom. It seemed very nice. However, I was there on a Sunday, so it was hard to judge, but everything seemed okay. There weren't very many people around to make a good assessment of the people who work there. I did speak with the manager and he was very nice and very informative. However, the facility didn't quite fit what my mom would like. The facility was nice, but it was cramped as far as the way it was positioned in the parking and so forth. Also they weren't doing any activities.

I don't know what happened. Everyone told me this place was beautiful and lovely. It was a pretty place, but I would not recommend it in the least. The lady who gave us the tour let us INTO people's homes to tour. The first one, she said she had a general type permission to do so with. The others, she went and checked to see who was not in their rooms and then let us into their rooms. I would be furious if that happened to my grandfather. No respect for privacy whatsoever. At one point, we asked for a moment alone to talk and she wouldn't leave. She also acknowledged that she was ignoring my grandfather because he was in a wheelchair, apologized for it, and then continued to do so. She also ignored his request for the papers regarding the price list and kept trying to give them to me, even after I explained that HE is an adult of sound mind and she needs to be selling to him. Their activities are things like, "Watch the Carol Burnett show together", which frankly, is not an activity. No one was particularly happy looking. We just walked out, didn't even bother to take the pamphlets with us. Maybe it was a fluke bad day, but the disrespect my grandfather was treated with disgusted me, and if that's how their staff behaves, then this is one of the last places I would recommend.

Sunrise was very nice. They had a nice little dining area, and they do a lot of activities there too. That was definitely our second choice. We understood that they had a five-star hotel chef, so I was sure that the food was good, but I didn't personally eat there. They had two separate dining rooms. They had one for the people who needed more care than independent, and they had one for the people on the independent side. They were nice dining areas. However, I thought the rooms were too small, and they weren't as nice as the ones where my father was. I liked that they had a lot of people who were very friendly. This is a BMW of Assisted Living Facilities, both in quality and in cost. They also had a memory care unit and a independent living unit. All the residents we talked to seemed happy and we witnessed many activities during our tour. Was introduced to one of the on-site nurses. We were impressed with the attention to detail that everyone showed. They have a concierge service to handle all the needs a resident would need including arranging for the purchase of medications. You pay for the quality - the room cost was higher than others we visited.

Sunrise is huge but it can be independent and dependent. It's in my neighborhood, it's right where I live and so I know of people who have people there. It's a beautiful facility. I haven't been visiting people there but I know people that are there, I've been inside. It's very nice, very elegant, very well taken care of. I know they have church but I don't know what other activities they have. I would not hesitate putting my mother there.

The Sunrise people were fabulous, nice and they loved to help. If I could choose some place more pricey, I would probably have gone with one of the Sunrise facilities but I can't. They have very small rooms but they have little nooks and crannies with furniture and a TV where they can invite friends and family and be with them and be out of their rooms while still have some privacy. Their people seemed to be happy.

This facility is absolutely gorgeous, one of the best looking I've visited, and I've seen dozens upon dozens. The insides are decorated in dark, soothing shades, with hardwood floors or fine carpets and artwork on the walls. My friend in this facility especially adores the facility's dog and cat. The cat especially loves to be held and pet. She finds comfort in stroking its silky fur. From what she's said, she used to have a cat when she was younger. I'm not sure how much younger, as it can be difficult to understand her, but the cat doesn't seem to mind. In fact, from what I've seen, the two have a sort of rapport together. She talks constantly to it and it purrs loud enough to sound like an idling motorcycle. This facility, and its pets, definitely have been good for her.
