My father was in Coral Desert. It's wonderful. It's hard because we couldn't go and see him, but we were allowed to go around and talk to him through the window. Also, when he started to have a hard time answering the phone, they picked up the phone and held it for him or dialed it for him. One of the reasons I absolutely wanted him there is that I had been there previously myself. I went there so that I could rehab my hip after I had it replaced twice within seven months. My father did not participate in activities because he was so dizzy and unable to walk without assistance, so he just chose not to, but they did have things for them if they chose to do so. They have many options for food and lots of treats if they want it. His dietary needs were met really well all things considered, being that he can't chew very well because of broken and lost teeth. I also provided him with the protein drinks he loves. They made an effort to make things that he could eat and even help him with his shaking by giving him heavier-weighted utensils to help him be able to eat by himself. I could also call in and talk to a nurse to check up to see where he was at, and he had a social worker there who kept in touch with me. I was also able to talk with the physical therapist all the time. They were just so good, not only to reach out to me, but I could get a hold of him when I needed to. I love the staff there.
