Holiday Harrison Regent was inviting, very clean, tidy, and neat. The staff who gave the tour was very warm and friendly. I think there were several opportunities for residents to gather in different areas. There was a library and an exercise room. I met the activities coordinator. I also saw that there was an area where they could go outside. The girl who gave me the tour also spoke about a park that was nearby within easy walking distance.

I toured Holiday by Atria- Harrison Regent. I didn't find anything I didn't like about it. I was impressed with it. The rooms are very nice. They offered a great deal for what you have. They have good programs. I did not eat there. I was offered but I haven't had a chance but overall, it was a great place. We went through the beautiful library. Where they ate, it was very clean, neat, and organized. We went to other places, we saw the rooms and I was pleased with the size of the rooms and what they had to offer in the rooms for a person if you had a wheelchair or something, it would be easy to get around. The staff has been very good. They've called back and I've talked to them several times. I was very pleased with the staff.

I liked that Holiday The Harrison Regent was a pet-friendly place and that they had their own little patio. The residents seemed to be very happy and knew each other well like it was a community and not like they were shut in. They were like little neighborhoods. I liked all of the community aspects of things that they had available to them like the food options and the support staff that was in the building. They also have a haircut facility, a game room, and social areas. It was a little older, but it was clean and they were in the middle of remodeling and redoing something so they're trying to keep it up still.

Holiday the Harrison Regent was very warm and accepting. They really make you feel like you're home. Some people have mentioned to me that they think it's too old. It was built in the 80s, but they're going to be fixing it up. I don't feel like it's too old. The apartments are just as good as any of the apartments in the other places. The atmosphere around there makes you feel like you're home. You don't need to put on airs or anything. It makes you feel real good. The one I'm looking at is a two-bedroom, and it has a nice-sized living room and a master bedroom that's large enough for a queen-sized bed. The second bedroom is just a smaller bedroom and I'm going to turn it into a craft room. The bathrooms are nice and large. The one bathroom has a walk-in shower and the second bathroom has a tub and they're nice and big. They've got the safety bars up everywhere where you would need them to be. It had a little button switch, so that if you have a problem, you can push it. I had lunch there and the food was excellent. It was very, very good food. The upkeep was great. You could tell it was a little bit older, but it was clean. The dining area was very open and bright, so you didn't feel like you were in the dark. It had big windows all over the place for you to see out of, and the people there were very friendly, even the people that live there. I brought a friend of mine with me for lunch, and they came up and were very friendly to both of us. I didn't see a pool, but they've got all kinds of exercise stuff. They've got craft rooms and a beauty salon. They probably got more stuff than I would even know because I haven't lived there yet. The staff took me into many areas in the facility and told me what was going on in each facility. They have a beautiful garden outside that you can participate in if you want to. They go on little trips to places and they also have a shuttle that will take you to Walmart or to the mall. They do a lot of fun things. They're going to be painting and redoing all the carpeting and the common areas this winter, and bringing it more up and to where it needs to be. It's a very warm, friendly place.

Holiday The Harrison Regent felt like a hotel. It didn't have that homey feeling like the other facility I saw. You walk in and there's this hotel desk. They had a neat facility where you could walk up to this bar and order something off the menu for lunch. We ate there and ordered a sandwich. The one thing that was nice about that place was the tour guide. As we walked and went through a couple of different rooms, she knew everybody we met. Like in the elevator and the hallways, everybody knew everybody by their first name. That was kind of nice. The food was fine, they had a menu that changed weekly. It was like a restaurant, you had three different entrees to choose from. And if you didn't want that, you could have something from the cafe, that's kind of like a bar, you could order off the menu as well. And you can have it taken delivery to your room or you can come and pick it up and take it to your room, or you can eat in the dining room. The rooms were not acceptable, too small. Closet space was practically nothing and a king bed wouldn't fit in the bedroom. The kitchen setup was nice, but the closet was smaller than my mom's front hall closet in the house. They didn't have any full care, it was all independent. And then you had to go for a special service to get a visiting nurse to come. If my parents needed assisted living, they would have to leave the facility and go someplace else. The facility itself was very clean and very nice. Their activities were all in one room. They didn't have any little private rooms like the other place where they have a movie theater and they had a special room for gaming and a special hairdresser, and a lot of little areas In this place, everything was right there. You walk in and it was like a hotel lobby, and then you see the dining room. They had stand-up shuffleboard right there, they just have a little room where you can play games and puzzles and that's it, that's all they had.

The Harrison Regent was good, but I'm able bodied. To me, it looked kind of like a nursing home, and I'm not quite there yet. The room was pretty nice. It was a good place. There was no kitchenette. They prepare meals there and then take it to their rooms themselves. The staff was very good, very helpful and listened to what my concerns were and what I needed. It was definitely not what I was looking for, but I was very impressed with the whole place.

We went to Harrison Regent, and we had a very good visit there and liked what we saw. It was very pleasant and very upbeat. We had a nice host who took us around, showed us all the different options of sizes and shapes, and all the features of that center. They answered all our questions, and offered us some extra material to read if we were interested in more details. Their accommodations were very nice and spacious. They had just changed the carpet in both of the rooms that we saw, and it looked like it was very clean and very well kept. Both were options that we would consider for sure. So they met our expectations, and that was great. One was a one-studio, one big room. The other was a one-bedroom apartment inside of, in sort of, a larger complex that was really secured, and looked lighted and heated, and really good setup, and near to the cafeteria and the other combination. So it was independent living for sure. We were there at dinner time, so it was a little later in the day, but they do have music performances and other people that come in to do other activities. They showed us the exercise room where they have exercising scheduled. They have lots of games, game rooms, and game tables around. They have a religious service there on Sunday. They have nurses, a hospice nurse, or a home health aide service there. It's a separate business, but they work in conjunction with them, and they were right there.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I stayed in Ogden from December to April this year at The Harrison Regent. It's an independent living community by the Holiday company. I'm vegan, but they didn't seem know what vegan was. They said they could provide vegan food, but they really couldn't. The staff was really nice, though. They couldn't do much about the food. I had a full kitchen so I just cooked for myself. I had a very spacious apartment. The manager of the facility moved out, and I took that person's apartment. It was very spacious. It was a one-bedroom with a kitchen, a living room, and a bathroom. It had plenty of space. It had a back door that opened to the sidewalk. I had a recumbent tricycle, and I could take it out the door and ride it. I really loved mobility so I used to ride that to the Smith Foods store. It's a good place, especially if you like group activities and stuff. It's just the food that was the problem. I was paying extra for food but not getting it. I was there during COVID, so there were no communal activities. I thought the place was pretty old, but it was all right. It's very clean. They had a problem with sewage back up and it ruined a lot of carpets, but they tried very hard to clean that up and make it look new again.

Provider Response

Hello Jon, thank you for giving us this feedback. We are disappointed that this was your experience at the Harrison Regent senior living community. Our community takes our dining experience very seriously and any concerns or suggestions may be discussed in a Chef and resident meeting if needed. We do our best to provide multiple food options for a spectrum of different diets. We are glad to hear that you were happy with your living arrangements and the array of different activities we provide for our residents. We hope to see you again soon. Thank you!

We had a very good tour experience at The Harrison Regent. They took the time to show me around the facility and explained all the different benefits their facility offered, including some of the things that they offered that maybe other local facilities didn't. They also took time to let me know that I'd be welcomed back to try a meal service if I wanted to see the quality of food they offered. I missed it during my appointment, but that was due to my appointment timing. The facility was very well-kept. There were no flickering lights and nothing was out of place. Everything was clean. The residents seemed happy, seemed to respond to the staff very well, and had a positive reaction with them. They smiled when they saw them, and they were absolutely very warm, very welcoming, and friendly. So, just the overall appearance, especially the grounds, were really nice and well attended as well. They had a lot of community activities such as board games, crafts, and clubs. They also had a small gym that was specifically designed for elderly residents, and they also offered room service for a very small fee for those who didn't want to go down to the dining room.

My sister-in-law was in The Harrison Regent for about 3 months. I like that they give you your own independence. If you want to go and have lunch with them, you can. You always had a choice, and that's what I liked about it. The staff was nice, friendly, and helpful. It was nice and it was a clean environment. Her apartment was very nice and it was a good size for her. It wasn't too small and it was a nice living arrangement that they have for her. You have your choice if you need a 1-bedroom or a 2-bedroom, they could help you do that. They had activities, they had something planned almost every day except Sundays. They invited me to dinner but I couldn't make it. And they said that if I ever want to visit again, they'll be able to accommodate me and I could try it out and see what I thought about it. The only thing that was missing was the swimming pool.

The Harrison Regent was very old. It was a dated place that had a lot of nice features, but they had very little activities that I could see. It was a place I decided I didn't want to go to. I only met two people, and one of them did not have the knowledge that I was coming in. I made an appointment to come in to see it, so it was a little bit argumentative there. Once I got inside, the staff was really nice. They had a one-bedroom open for me to visit, go in, and look. It was clean, and it was smaller than what I wanted. It's probably ideal for someone else, but for not for me. I wanted a larger apartment. It was clean, and the whole place was clean for that matter. I did not see dining rooms, but I saw two libraries there.

My son is in The Harrison Regent. He's enjoying being there -- probably because everything is done for him -- but it's a nice location, and they are very hospitable. He enjoys talking to people. He's been quarantined for ten days, but his quarantine is up now. He's able to walk outside around the building, and he's using a wheelchair. He has a one-bedroom, with two rooms and a bathroom. One room is basically a living room with a little sink. We gave him a microwave, and they furnish a refrigerator, so it's just a minibar, more or less. They have an activity calendar. He was not able to do things because of the quarantine, but they were attentive to him, and they kept him in the loop of what was going on. They have an exercise area, they have a place where he can go sit and talk with people, they have a fireplace in the entryway, they have activity rooms, they have a dining room, and he has a balcony on his room. As people walk around outside, during that ten days he was able to talk with them because he was on the balcony, and they were on the ground. The meals are really great. Because of his schedule with doctors in the afternoon, at times he's been a little late for lunch, but they've left it for him, and we have a microwave for him, so he's able to heat things up. I've seen people working on puzzles in the hallways, outside of certain doors and stuff. They have bingo, and they have church or religious meetings. They also have a beauty shop or barber shop where he can get a haircut.

I have been a resident of The Harrison Regent 4 years, During which I have greatly appreciated the kindness and professionalism of the management and staff. Especially during these days of pandemic, I am grateful for their protection of the residents. Management is very kind and gracious in their approach to residents while keeping us safe As a result of their proactive stance not one of our residents has contacted COVID-19. I have been very appreciative throughout mt stay here of the superb management. I feel safe and happy here. It is more than a residence. It has become a home. I feel blessed to be here and would recommend it whole heartedly to anyone looking an independent senior living residence.

The Harrison Regent was really nice, but it wasn't what I was looking for. The studio and one-bedroom apartments were very small. There were no facilities for cooking at all, and the refrigerator was under the counter. We had a good lunch, but not the kind of food that we normally eat. They do the laundry except for your personal items, and they do the cleaning for you.

Provider Response

Hi Waneta, thank you for taking the time to rate and leave a review. I thought that the activities at The Harrison Regent were good. They offer a lot more freedom and independence to the patients compared to the other place my brother was in. Their food was excellent. It's really good. I ate there with my brother a few times and I had no complaints ever. They clean the rooms once a week really well. It's also a clean place and they keep the yards and grounds up well. They offer parking for people who have cars in independent living. They're located not far from the grocery store, so if somebody is in good shape they can just walk there. There are also little shops close by, and the hospital is just like in the backyard, so it's in a nice location. They care about their residents. When my brother's memory started going, they suggested several places that we could look into. So when we looked for help and advice, they were willing to help. Everybody was trying to be friendly. Unfortunately, there was a lot of senior bullying that goes on there and there are several patients that suffer from it, not just my brother. There are other residents that I talked to who also experienced it. Other than that, the food is great. In the past, my brother has experienced things going missing in his room, so someone's got sticky fingers there, and it's not just my brother who experienced it. Those were the only two negative things I saw about them, other than that I would rate them highly. His room was a studio, but it was much bigger than his room in his other place. They took the residents out to movies, restaurants, or other stuff all the time. They also watch movies in the community. If they have appointments, they have dates where they can sign up, and they'll be taken there with a bus and get brought them back when they're through. In terms of pricing, I thought they're priced lower than others. They have better pricing.

The Harrison Regent was too far out, but it was a very nice place. There were people watching TV and talking. The staff members seemed very nice. The community was clean. They had a library, a big sitting room, a dining room, and a small exercise room. We had dinner and it was very good. The dining area was really big and open.

The Harrison Regent was a very nice place, but they couldn't grant the waiver we needed. The community area and the lobby was very open, with extremely high-vaulted ceilings and a huge big fireplace. It's a very nice place. The dining room is open and nice. We had lunch there and it wasn't as good as the one we selected, but it was a good lunch. Their apartments are very nice, and their prices were a little bit less than the community we chose (about $200 less). They're located in the north and away from the city. The farther you get away from Salt Lake City, the cheaper it gets. It's a fine line of what's assisted, and what's independent and what they do offer, but they advertise it as assisted.

The Harrison Regent was very nice and organized, and the food was delicious. The only thing that I noticed about it is that the main building is a little bit old, so it has that old home smell. The apartment that they showed us was nice. It was on the ground floor with a pet access, which is good because we do have a little pet. They also have lots of activities, and most of them are indoors, like exercises and games. There aren't really outdoor or travelling activities. The staff was definitely very nice.

We visited The Harrison Regent. I don't need any medical care per se, but they have medical assistance if that's what you need. There's somebody on duty who could assist with medications. The staff is very efficient at what they do. I'm a vegetarian, and they didn't really have a program for vegetarians, but they were willing to adjust to take care of my needs. The facility is good for what you need. They have a backyard, and they let you have a dog out in the yard, but you have to pick up the droppings. The two apartments that I saw were very nicely laid out. They had their own restrooms and showers that were clean and nice for single or double occupancy. If you need a place for yourself and your wife, they would have facilities for that. I didn't try the food but everybody seemed to be eager to get to supper, so the food must have been good.

In appearance, the Harrison Regent looks like a good, solid, middle-class structure. I am here now and I feel very comfortable with the people who also live here. The services are generally adequate. They have a lot of activities, like card games, puzzles, bingo, and things like that. They also have a lot of activities for the women. I think they do quite a good job with the amount of tenants. They are lacking adequate transportation, and their dining facilities are sometimes inconsistent, so they need to improve that.

The Harrison Regent is a nice facility. They are remodeling since it is a little older and dated, but it has very friendly staff, lots of activities, and seems really warm and inviting. We recently got a room, and my mother has not moved yet. I saw the list of activities, and she likes the stuff that they do, like Sunday services for church, two days a week they have study groups for scripture study two days a week, exercise classes, some clubs, and a lot of sewing and knitting. The room is adequate and has a nice view. The staff seems very friendly and helpful.

Mother-in-law loved the people at Harrison Regent, but she didn’t like the facilities as much as she likes the other place. It has a nice setting arrangement for the food, and it was very good; it was cafeteria style. We had a very nice visit as they were very cordial and nice. The people were wonderful. The facilities were a little older and outdated, parking was not very good, and the rooms were older. They had invited us to activities, and they have art classes.

The Regent was fantastic. The staff was great, the people were great, and the food was great. We really enjoyed it, and it was our first choice. There is a lot of room especially in their 1-bedroom; we’re really impressed with that, but we need a 2-bedroom. However, their 2-bedroom did not have enough space for our king-size bed. The Harrison Regent was a little older. There were very friendly people. I just liked the hominess of the place. We saw a studio, a one-bedroom unit, and a two-bedroom unit, and I liked them. There was flexibility in the way the rooms were set up. The residents were very friendly. There were various programs going on like crafts and book clubs. A computer was set up, too. They had places where you could sit around the fireplace, just be quiet, or have small talk. The little places were on the different floors. I thought that was a unique situation. I didn't see that in other places.

When we went to visit, a guy was playing music and everybody was sitting around, listening to the music, and she said this wasn’t her kind of place. I was impressed, but my mom wasn’t. The Harrison Regent was a very nice home. I like the plan for their schedules and programs. The people I talked to were very nice and very informative. The apartment that I saw was very clean and neat, but the one-bedroom would not do for me because of the stuff that I have. A friend had been there, and she liked the church meetings and the exercise programs. She really enjoyed it, but there wouldn't be any place for me to take my pet outside. There wouldn't be a yard nor any place that would benefit my dog. There's no place nearby either. My friend had a two-bedroom apartment.

I visited this facility

The Harrison Regent is the only one that we visited. They invited us in for lunch, they serve three meals a day, and they have facilities to help take care of you -- the type of thing that we were looking into. It was clean, and they had very helpful people who were very knowledgeable in what they were doing. They even offered to pay my rent before my contract expires on this apartment we are renting. They offered to pay that for three months so that my wife and I could move in with them. They said that if my wife and I wanted to go on vacation -- say to Las Vegas, since we would be with them -- we could go stay at their other place in Las Vegas for a week for free, and we'll get all of our meals served to us, just like oour accomodations here. They got a place in California, and they've got places in Arizona, but they have enough places so that we can go visit different parts of the country if we wanted to.

I visited this facility

The staff was all pretty good; they even gave us a bag of popcorn to eat while we chatted. And they gave us a tour of the facility, showed us one of their rooms, and the things or activities that they do. All of them that we talked to, went through, and looked through were really good. They had movies, and they could eat there, they serve like home-made root beer and made beer floats and popcorn, and they just had things during the day. They have an athletic room where they can do workout or therapy and exercises, and they have places where they can sit together and play checkers or cards or something. We did not eat there, but they had a good menu. The Harrison was pretty nice. The rooms were unfurnished; you have to supply your own bed, your own TV, and whatever else you need, but other than that it was set up pretty good. Security was good; you had to go through the front-door and customer service, register in, let them know who you are there to see, and then if you are going to take them some place about when you would be back.

I visited this facility

Harrison Regent was very nice, but they could have used a little updating. They had very spacious rooms, and they had a good dining room. We ate there, and the food was good. There were some residents, and we talked to them. They had a poker playing night.

I visited this facility

We visited the Harrison Regent and we they were very kind to us. If it had been me, my choice, I would have opted to put mom there. We had lunch and they treated us very, very well. The food was delicious and the dining room was very nice. They showed us all the different options with regards to their rooms. They were nice and they look very comfortable. When the time comes that I need to go to some place, you wouldn’t have a hard time getting me there. They talked of their activities and some are wonderful. They had puzzles in there, games, people coming in to perform for them.

I visited this facility

The Harrison Regent was a very nice, very high class, and very expensive place, but they have the facilities that we would like to have. They have a large population, which means more opportunities for meeting people to make friends with and whatnot. They have a branch of our particular faith that meets there on Sundays. They have learning opportunities and entertainment opportunities on a regular basis. The facility was clean. The apartments were very nice and clean. They're fully re-decorated when someone moves on. You would have a small kitchenette. Some of them have full-sized refrigerators, and some have very small refrigerators. Regarding the staff, the salesman is working hard to keep in touch, and this has been for over a year now. They invited us to different things. They sent cards telling us about an event or that someone is going to come to speak or that they will have a movie. They sent us those cards so that we can attend those things if we wanted to. They did have activities. The only thing I missed is that they don't have pool, and that is a nice therapy for me. Also the staff would assist with the meals, the laundry, and the cleaning. All of those were provided for you. They just didn't have medical personnel on hand that qualifies them to be any better than independent.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My mother was not there long enough for me to rate the services. I don't know what you would get for $1800 but it must be a closet. The rent they asked from my mother was $2795 for a small one bedroom apartment. If she had moved in with a husband it would have been $3295 a month. This was supposed to be some kind of move in special! This just shows that my mother was no longer thinking clearly. Although I was trying to take her to see assisted living communities, while I was at work, the Harrison Regent was calling my mother at least three times a day. Before I knew what had happened she told me she had signed the papers. I was not happy. They hooked her up with a mover and everything. She was moving her furniture over there so quick I was dumbfounded. She gave them a check for around $4200 dollars to move in. She moved some of her furniture over there on March 6th. Two days after partially moving in she had a heart attack. She was in the hospital for 2 weeks before passing away. She never regained conciousness in those two weeks. She passed away on March 23rd. When I went to turn in the keys I was informed that I owed the company $758 because there is a 30 day notice that begins on the date of death! She had paid $1395 for an activity fee that they said was non-refundable although she wasn't there long enough to have participated in any activities and she had paid a full months rent and lived there two days. I was livid. I had several things to take care of, since my mother had just passed away, and had decided that the company was going to be greedy and keep all the money. I didn't have the energy to deal with this at this time. When I actually got a check that said it was a refund of the activity fee. I was quite surprised and thought that this company wasn't quite so bad after all! Wrong. While they were giving with one hand they were taking with the other. They took $931 out of my bank account 18 days after my mother died. This account had transferred to me upon my mother's death. I did not know about it until the statement came in May. Now they were saying that the $931, not $758 even, is what my mother still owed. They withdrew this money after her death from an account that was no longer in her name. If you are keeping up with the count, this is about $3730 they have collected for my mother living and eating there for 2 days. That is with the refund of the activity fee which she never had time to use any of. They lead my mother to believe that, even though they were listed as an independent living facility, they were for all intents and purposes an assisted living facility. They are even listed under assisted living accommodations on the internet. This is not accurate.

I visited this facility

The Harrison Regent seemed to be a very comfortable facility with a home-like appeal. As a visitor, I noticed that the residents all seemed to be in generally good spirits and were quite contented. The atmosphere was welcoming and very calming. As I spent time with the residents of the facility I noticed that they seemed quite happy with the rooms at the Harrison Regent, as well as with the food at the facility. I know that it can be difficult to find an assisted-living facility with good meals but this facility seemed to have high-quality food. In addition to having good food, the facility also ensures that there are plenty of activities to be engaged in, from participating in sports-type activities (such as using a Wii system) to volunteer activities. There are also a lot of amenities for the residents, such as available transportation to various places (e.g. for a doctor's appointment), game rooms, and free laundry services. The staff at the facility were also very welcoming and accommodating, and seemed to care deeply for the residents

I visited this facility

I was very impressed, friendly, out going caregivers, great greeters, sweet tenants and very smart small condo's. Not all condo's were given walk-in tubs or wheelchair showers. Other than how far away it is from my home, I feel it was better then the more expensive Emeritus Estates, located in North Ogden, Utah.
