Laurel Groves Assisted Living Center is a small facility. It's privately owned by a hospice nurse who is very hands-on. She has contact with the residents almost daily herself in addition to the hospice nurse that we have for my husband. So, I'm impressed by the personal care he gets from the owner. One of the things I liked about it is it has great big windows overlooking a landscaped area with a lawn and lots of trees. He also has a nice size room, big enough for his bed and recliner. He has a nice, clean, new bathroom. Another nice thing about it is there is a fenced area outside that has shade trees, a garden, and a nice place to go and sit and be outside, which is important for my husband. They give him three meals a day and an evening snack, and they always invite me to stay there and eat with him. I believe the food is very good. They offer some church services on Sundays and I know they have an exercise program at least one day during the week.

The Laurel Groves Assisted Living Center is clean. They give the residents a lot of interaction, 3 good meals a day, and they take good care of my grandfather. They meet all the needs he has, and they're kind to him. It's more of a community than just a sit-in-your-room-all-day type of facility. They get them out and have activities for them if they want to join in. It's got more of a homey feel than a facility feel. They do bingo, and they have game nights and movie nights. Each room has a kitchenette set up in it with a big spacious bathroom set up for those with walkers. There's plenty of room to move around and if they need somebody to help them, there's plenty of room for somebody to help them in there too. The rooms are a decent size to fit a TV, a bed, and seating chairs and tables if they want them. They have two different sizes of rooms. Some are bigger than the others, and some have two people in them. I know they have sisters that live there together in one room, and I think there's a husband and a wife too. I haven't tried the food, but my grandpa seems to like it. They have a big dining area with seating and stuff. They have puzzles that they put together there. They laminate them and put them on the wall. It's a colorful, bright, well-lit, and nice dining area. It has plenty of space too. They help him with everything and if he goes in needing less assistance and then ends up needing more assistance, they don't end up charging more. It's well-priced for everything that they cover. They have a lady that comes into their salon. They also have an industrial kitchen and a visiting area inside. They clean the rooms, and they do their laundry weekly. They have big hallways and big doorways. It used to be an old hospital, so it's set up nicely for walkers and wheelchairs, and things like that.
