I was there this morning looking for a place for my dad who just had knee surgery. They showed me a private suite that he would get and I think he will love it! The staff was very helpful and friendly. They answered all my questions and I left Retama feeling extremely grateful that my dad will be well taken care of until he can go home.

I am 76 years old and have been living at Retama Manor for 12 years. I love living here at Retama because it definitely feels like home. I'm able to walk outside in our big yard. I usually walk about 1 mile and then go inside to workout in the gym at least 15 minutes each day. The kitchen serves good home cooked meals. The activities department is always doing something fun.

The rooms we saw at Retama Manor Victoria South were clean. I had no qualms about the personnel running the place. I rated it a little bit lower than the other facility because of the urine smell in there. The people seemed content. Also, they had a larger number of patients to take care of.

The staff at Retama Manor was very understanding. They bend over backwards to help her and make her feel comfortable. They have a delicious menu, and they get to choose their three meals a day. The staff was very professional and very caring. As far as rehabilitation, they were excellent.

I love the cleanliness of Retama Manor. Other nursing homes in town smelled like urine and Retama was the only one that did not. I took a tour and the staff was very friendly and answered all the questions I had and actually pointed out some things I would never have thought of. My mom only stayed for a short time in one of their private suites, which we were greatful they gave her. But if or when we get to the point where she has to go to a nursing home for good we will definitely choose Retama Manor.

I worked a Halloween charity event at this nursing home as part of Our Lady of Victory's Leo Club program. The staff seemed very kind, as they helped the elderly play the Halloween games that we had setup. (cake walk, fishing over curtain, bean bag toss, etc)Food was sold from the buildings kitchen. The food made by the cooks at this home was decent, but the thought of eating only food of this quality over an extended period of time is well, rather depressing. The grounds were very clean, and obviously maintained well. (In other words, the outside area is a pleasant space)The building in general seemed very outdated; however, it did seem that it had been maintained well.I would recomend this nursing home because I know it is one of the cheaper ones in Victoria Texas, and it seems to be a bargain vs. the more expensive ones like Twin Pines.
