My aunt has been living in this apartment for a year and for most of that year, she has not been able to use her central AC because the drain pan leaks on her bathroom floor when it is running. We have been told for more than 6 months that the drain pan has been on order. They put an AC unit (similar to a window unit) in her bedroom, but it is noisy and does not adequately cool her living room. I have reached the end of waiting patiently for this to be fixed. There are also other safety issues that I have notified the management about that have not been fixed, either. I regret moving her to Meadow Lake.

Meadow Lake Senior Living was very clean and very organized. The lady that gave us the tour was knowledgeable and super friendly. The memory care unit was small and real comfortable. We came there on a Friday afternoon and it was nice and very inviting. It's just a little far out for us, but it's a nice and secure facility. They have a nice walking area outside, but they also take them on a lot of outings. One of the residents was telling us they had just gone out to eat at one of the restaurants in the city of Tyler. We saw this calendar and it was moderately full. Not too much, but just enough to keep them active and keep them engaged with what's going on in the community. The room we saw was rather small. You could get a full-sized bed in it, but we actually saw another resident's room. She allowed us to go in, and it was a real comfortable room. The bathroom area was big enough. It's sufficient with a little kitchenette area.

My wife is in the memory care unit at Meadow Lake. I was in there with her yesterday. I took her out and we walked around for maybe a quarter mile. It does not have a whole lot of people on the memory care side, which I kinda like, so they make sure they get a lot of attention from the staff. They have activities for them, they have an activities director, they have a TV where they can go in and watch TV, they play games, they have church meetings, they have people come in and play music, and they play bingo. They had a lot of turnover within the last two years, but they're doing much better now. They were one of five places that we visited here in town, and this one was the best in my opinion. They are on their third director since my wife went in there, but they're doing really well, and they're being really responsive now. Food is great. They have their own little dining facility in the memory care area. Meadow Lake itself has a restaurant, and for special occasions, I will take my wife and we will walk down there, and she likes that special treat when we will eat at the restaurant, so that's nice, and I like that, too. Their facilities are good, but it got hit with that rolling blackout when we had the freeze here in Texas, so that kinda hurt. They actually got the generators brought in real quick. Surprisingly enough, it was one of the least expensive, and they got a lot more attention from the staff. It is very clean, and they keep it up-to-date, so it is excellent.

My mother is in skilled nursing at Meadow Lake. The staff is really kind and nice to my mother. The physical appearance is excellent. It is clean and spotless, it has beautiful surroundings, it is out in the country, and the rooms are nice. However, the care has not been that great, and they need more care and help like with showers and sometimes dressing. My mother has to practically beg them to come and make her beds. Food and meal service are not good either, and they need to get a new chef, too. During the snow blizzards that we had, they didn't have generators, they just told the people to stay in bed and cover up. Everything was down like the phone, water, and electricity, and I couldn't get in touch with my mother. They need generators for when the power goes out.

My parents have been in Meadow Lake for three weeks now. They have a two-bedroom-two-bath-with-a-study, 1400-square-foot apartment. The food is delicious, and they seem to be settling well. It's a very friendly environment. Everyone has stopped by to say hello and so far, it's been a great experience. On Valentine's Day, they had a chocolate get-together, and they've had some speakers come in and talk about various things. They have a game room where you can go down on a Saturday or a Sunday night and play all kinds of games. They played baseball toss one day, and they've had cards and bingo, so it's very active. There is no pool, but they have a courtyard, a salon, a weight room, two areas to eat, and a restaurant, which was really one of our key issues. They open at 11:30 and close at 6:00, so you're not told when to go eat. You can eat whenever you want, and you order off of the menu. They have a daily special, and then you can also just order off of a standard menu. Every day, they offer salmon and spaghetti, but on their specials, they had steak and shrimp. The restaurant is really nice, but if you don't want to go to the restaurant, they also have a grill that is open from 11:30 to 2:00. They might be serving hot dogs or paninis at the grill. I feel like the dining options are very robust. I love the place. The staff has been friendly and helpful, and they directed me to the right people when I needed help. They've just been awesome. The food is amazing. I want to move in there. I like the layout of this place because there are only twelve people on a wing, and it's an L-shaped wing. It's open, the hallways are very wide, and they have little pockets of things. There is a ping-pong table in one of the hallways and a pool table in another one. I felt like it was very open, and you could probably have two wheelchairs or two walkers pass each other and not feel like, "Oh, I need to get out of your way." I like the facility. I felt like it was conducive to seniors. You have to put down a huge deposit, but I like their monthly rent price because it's very fair. The deposit is interesting, although we did it because I fell in love with the place. It's on so many acres, and they have a lake and ponds everywhere.

My sister in law was in MEMORY CARE for 3.5 years and we were very pleased with the cleanliness of the facility, the many structured activities and most of the staff. I want to commend especially the med aide Ashley, activities director Joyce and the REGULAR morning and night personal care aides. We had cameras in her room which I monitored frequently each day allowing us to report any substandard care or intrusions by disruptive residents. I highly recommend the use of monitored cameras. One concern was the frequent turnover of the Memory Care administrator. No information was given to us concerning this matter. Over all this facility is a good choice for Memory Care in Tyler.
