    I visited this facility

I was there last Saturday, and after reading all the great reviews. I'm wondering if they visited the same place. First of all, we had to knock and ring for five minutes before someone finally opened the door and the conditions there are absolutely HORRIBLE! The rooms are filthy. I had to call the front desk to get my son's urinals emptied (they were left hanging on the side of the bed and he was trying to eat his lunch). The bed next to my son's was so filthy that we had to pull the curtains so we could have a half way decent visit. The man who slept there left dirty clothes on the floor with fecal matter on them, and the bed looked was full of urine. There was a urinal on the floor and the person who reluctantly came to empty the ones for my son, walked right by the one on the floor like she didn't see it and when she emptied them she didn't use any disinfect or anything she just poured them out and brought them back and that smell lingered through the entire visit.i They don't keep good records, the food is bad, and people who are on special diets can't get the foods they need. The rehabilitation person who is supposed to help my son walk hardly ever shows up. The internet is off and they don't seem to care, that means the outside world cannot be reached by the residents. There was no one at the front desk and the front doors are locked and we had to wait for someone to let us out, which is against the law. If they have a resident capable of leaving, they need to lock that person down, not the entire facility.

Sherman Healthcare is well presented and nice. The staff is very nice and take care of the patients, but I have some problems with the night crew.

Mom was in Sherman Healthcare Center a week before she died. The staff was very nice, very thoughtful, and helpful; everybody seemed very caring. The cleanliness was good.

    I visited this facility

I had a family friend that could not live on her own due to a sudden health problem. Her husband and son chose Sherman Health Care Center, which also provides rehabilitation. She required a lot of assistance at the beginning and I always saw very attentive personnel as well as personable. They always made small talk with the patients to assure them comfort. They helped her over a period of a approximately three weeks, before she was transferred to another facility closer to her son. Even though most of this stay was acceptable, I rated this a three on the scale because as she progressed and the closer it was that her stay would end soon, a few of her personal property started to disappear including a cell phone. So in this case, the attention given to patients was satisfactory, but I would recommend that they screen their employees a little better to ensure this NEVER happens again.
