My mom has been at Royse City Health and Rehab for about 2 years now...I absolutely love this facility...My mom first went there with the beginning stages of dementia...She is now in the final stages...The entire staff is so caring and helpful..I have never had a problem being updated on her care by her nurses..They go above and beyond regarding the care for the residents... This facility is very clean and updated. .The financial office has always been there for me to make sure her Medicaid is up to date and helps me if any problems arise..She is now going through the final stages with Hospice there and I can honestly say this facility has given my mother the best care and I am so thankful for them.

I was a resident there for about 6 months and on November 1st I was sent to the hospital which I am still at. Approximately 5 weeks ago my ex wife and son went to pick up my personal belongs. Well it turns out that they were given 2 boxes. Well when they got home one box had some of my things but I was missing all my clothes and hygiene products and a backpack with my whole life in it along with things I kept that my son made in school also his first pair of shoes I bought for him. Here we are a month later and they still can't find my stuff. Including my power chair.

My family member was at this facility years before she finally passed. I saw a BIG difference from when she first admitted. It used to be such a nice place but Tyla the DON has drove this place into the ground. Horrible care under her supervision. I’ve been through 3 Directors she is by far the worst. I would report staff not changing my family or giving her showers and she bold face lied and said say she would take care of it but she would never follow up. I have to ask to have the room cleaned because if I don’t it won’t get cleaned. A few of the floor nurses are nice but this facility needs a new director of nurses. The patients are suffering.

My mother went in for care and not even 48 hours she had passed. She was blind and diabetic and the staff was truly atrocious and uncaring. The selfishness and bothered some staff didn't respond to my mother and give her the care she needed. Momma was only there for respite hours and she took her last breath on this earth in a place where there are deplorable employees who apparently could careless about the lives of other beings.

My mother was admitted yesterday morning with a broken pelvis. The response by the staff has been poor. I tried from 7am this morning to get a phone number to her room to no avail. Pierre, the nurse I spoke with was very unhelpful and when I finally spoke with the head nurse, Tula, at 11:00 am she finally gave me a phone number and made sure someone went into my mother’s room to answer. Once I spoke with my mom, she said the staff has been very “lackadaisical” in responding to her needs. Her doctor told us that she was not to put any weight on her feet, but I found out that the therapist had her stand this morning and rock back and forth. Needless to say, I’m not a fan so far.

My mother was a patient here and received horrible care. Nurses would come into her room with meds and would get her so agitated and then she would refuse meds. She detoriated very quickly. I moved her to another facility that gave her living care and she did make a slow recovery.

My mother was there twice about a year apart due to hospitalization just get her strength back. Mom is now 92 and has not been back for over a year. The staff and activities were great. Mom especially liked getting her nails and hair done each week. The PT staff were awesome. The helped her learn to change her own underwear with the help of a grabber device. Being there gave her a much greater quality of life than she had before. She really enjoyed her stay there. It was much better than the rehab she was previously in in Mesquite. They gave her no help.

Royse City Health and Rehab was a very nice facility. It was one of the newest ones that we looked at. The staff that we met and the tour that we had were very nice. My relative is blind. They did offer things for the blind, but due to the care that she needed, they were not equipped for that particular care, and it was full. That was one of the reasons we didn’t go with them, but it was an awesome facility. It was brightly decorated and really colorful. They had all kinds of activities and an open area for patients; it was just a good atmosphere. The staff members that I met were very, very knowledgeable.

Some of the nurses and aides are caring, some seem to just be there to collect a paycheck. There are never any washcloths when needed and the tray with water and remote is almost always out of reach for bed ridden patients. The communication between doctors, nurses and aids is almost non-existant. I know my loved one is taken care of better than I could, but I still expect more for the amount of money being paid.

I have to admit that, at first, I was very apprehensive about sending my mother to an assisted living facility. However, those fears were quickly relieved by the staff at this facility. I found the admissions personnel to be very understanding and compassionate. They answered all of my questions and made me feel very comfortable in making this decision. The nursing staff at this facility is among some of the best. The nurses truly care about the residents and treat each one as an individual with individual needs. The physical therapy staff is very professional and encouraging to the patients. The nursing aids are very attentive to all of the patients needs. I personally would recommend this facility to anyone that has a parent or loved one that needs a Skilled Nursing Facility.
