I visited this facility

We did the tour at Lakeshore Assisted Living and Memory Care on a Saturday, and it was very unprofessional. The lady was all over the place. She wasn't as dressed as professional on that day. We had to ask all the questions. She never told us a lot about the facility. She just wasn't personable. The chairs that they have for the memory care center, they said, they were getting those on order. It didn't feel homey. The room I saw was like a room with a bathroom.

I visited this facility

We went to Lakeshore Assisted Living and Memory Care. I don't know if they didn't know I was coming, but when I got there, they didn't treat me like they did at the other place. It just didn't meet all my expectations as far as thoroughness. We would have probably chosen that one because it was closer to where we were going to be residing ourselves, but they never followed through. The lady during the tour was very nice, but I felt like she was hurried. They weren't as new a facility as the other one. They offered a salon and crafts. it looked a little bit like a tired facility. It was not dirty or anything like that, but just maybe needed an extra hand and sprucing it up.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My aunt moved into Lakeshore Assisted Living and Memory Care 2 weeks ago. So far, everything has been very good. She has a private room, but it was a shared bathroom. They do not have private bathrooms available. The common areas are adequate, and they seem good. It's the memory care area, so it's kind of scaled down. The staff seems to be good, especially the supervisor- level people. There is an onsite beauty shop. They have ball toss games, exercise videos, tactile, and activity mats. But there needs to be more interaction to draw the residents out of their rooms. The physical condition of the building is good, and it is kept clean. It is an older facility, but it has been well-maintained and updated.

My mom has moved into Lakeshore Assisted Living and Memory Care. It was very nice. It has nice colors, and the residents seem to like it there. My mother has dementia, so sometimes you have good days and bad days. Overall, that's just her. The people there are very friendly, very watchful, and everything. They're taking very good care of her. The place is pretty clean. They play ball. They throw a ball around. They fold up some of the laundry. They paint and just stuff like that. They'd rather keep them busy doing things. When my mother has a good day, she's happy there. Sometimes though, she has a bad day (it's not their fault, it's just her). She doesn't even recognize me on those days. They all have, pretty much, a room to themselves. In some of the suites, they have a bathroom. The suite room where my mother is in shares the bathroom with her neighbor. They're both in wheelchairs. They have to be helped with that anyway, so it's not a problem. The room is very nice. It has a big window, so she can look outside if she wants to. It has plenty of room. I haven't tried the food, but I've seen it. It looks a lot like a balanced meal.

My father is in Lakeshore Assisted Living and Memory Care. I like its very close proximity to my home. I like the way it was laid out. They had the interior courtyard with the rocks and my dad likes rocks a lot. I liked all the people I was dealing with there. The staff is very friendly, very helpful and they answer questions to help transition medications and things like that. I've seen the food and it looks good. It's not necessarily the food my dad would choose to eat, but he has to eat a softer diet now. That's what they're preparing for him, but everything always looks fresh and well cooked. The layout is great, cleanliness, new flooring, the facility was redone after the storms last year, bright colors, very attractive, and wide hallways. Now that COVID has become a real thing again, they've kind of curtailed activities. He got in right as the second COVID surge started. The first day that I went down there, they were having an exercise activity. I haven't seen them under normal circumstances. Their price seemed reasonable with other facilities. I thought it was a good price for the care.

Lakeshore Assisted Living and Memory Care is very nice and very clean, but I found it too expensive for us. I found the staff very friendly, and they interacted with the residents. Everybody seemed upbeat, comfortable, and relaxed. The director told us that there was one resident that had been there for 12 years, so evidently it's good. We went over everthing and kind of looked around. I saw the dining room, and it was clean, the grounds looked kept up, so I was impressed with the facility itself. Just from my observation, the staff was really friendly.

Even before Covid, the communication from admin was poor and the staff to resident ratio low. With covid, the poor families were left believing and hoping their loved ones were being cared for. The communication was next to nothing and months went by without news or the ability to go inside the building to check anything. If your loved one is independent and can basically do everything on their own, they will do ok here. If they need assistance, you are taking a chance on their health and safety.

Arbor House of Rockwall (Lakeshore Assisted Living and Memory Care) seemed like a really nice place. The staff was very friendly. We talked to a resident and who's very happy with the care she gets there. The person who showed us around was very friendly, knowledgeable, and very nice to talk to. It was a fairly large building, seemed fairly new, and was very nicely kept. They were cooking a meal, which smelled wonderful.

Arbor House at Rockwall was a nice and clean place. It's something I will keep in mind if the need ever comes up for my wife to go to a memory care unit. It's a very clean place. Everybody was real friendly. Even the people living there were friendly. I liked the apartments. It would be something that could fit our needs eventually. I've seen some women reading in the library and they were doing crafts and sewing. The lady that I first met was friendly, she listened to me, and seemed to really care. She introduced me to the people working there.

Arbor House of Rockwall was very nice and in a good location. It seemed to be very clean and well managed. The staff was extremely nice and informative. A lot of things were going on for the residents when we were there, like puzzles, and some residents were gathered around the TV. The dining area was clean.

I like their memory care unit at Arbor House. They had special activities all the time for them, and they had a separate staff that worked with them, like they had their own activity director back there. It was clean, and the staff was friendly.

I am a friend or relative of resident

Arbor House is simply wonderful and an answer to many prayers. My grandmother (100 on 3.15.14) faced a rapid decline in her health so was relocated from her childhood home and away from a lifetime of friends to be close to family. Our fears that she would further wither and decline were unfounded. Within a few days or nourishment and timely medication delivery, she was stronger. Within a few weeks of physical therapy, she was back to her former spunky witty self -- and wearing her signature high heels! She is thriving, adores the staff, says she can't remember the last time she felt so much joy and health, and feels like every staff member is trying to spoil her rotten. She misses her old friends but is enjoying meeting new ones who she says are delightful. Words of thanks are inadequate to express continued appreciation to AH and staff for bringing such love, health, and happiness into however many years (and we hope many!) she has left on this side of heaven.

Arbor House is a brand new facility. They have outside doors and patios where people can walk outside. They have windows and courtyards out there. Apartment rooms are bigger, brighter and more expensive. However, I worry about the nursing staff because they don't have a stable staff. You're not sure if your parents are being looked at or if the medication things are being done. I think that's very important.

memory care staff

All staff here welcomed my mother in law with open arms. She has been here less than a month, and she is already comfortable. She has already adapted to a schedule that is flexible according to HER needs and fine tuned to her personality! There is never a time I enter or leave without knowing the staff love her as a person, not just another patient. The prices are fairly reasonable for a secure memory care facility. The surroundings are elegant, yet somehow offer a casual, relaxed feel. We never dreamed she would be so happy anywhere!
