The reason why we chose Pilot Point Care Center for mom-in-law was because that's where her mom and other relatives went, and it's just close to home. It's a very, very caring nursing home. They are very concerned and they're excellent. My mom-in-law likes some of their meals very much, and she's a picky eater. They have bingo every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. They also bring in singers. They have church every Sunday and then other things occasionally come in, but nothing regularly.

My stepfather moved into Pilot Point Care Center. We chose it mainly for the care. They're updating the facility, it's an old facility, but the staff and the care are really good there. They're hard- working, they're very good, and they communicate. When things are happening, they keep in communication with us. The rooms need to be upgraded. They have a recreational time every day, he's not able to focus on stuff like that, but I do know it's on his calendar. They do bingo and bowling. They have customized his meals a little bit. They couldn't get him to eat, so they were asking me what he liked and what he didn't like, and so they kind of customized his meals a little bit. That's a plus.

Pilot Point was an older facility, but was all functional. It was probably a little bit homey too. It was a sizeable nursing home; certainly it had a lot people. With my experience in a small community type nursing home, I would say it’s as big as any of that size. The cafeteria was relatively quiet. That time, Alice was more advanced. There were periods when she was pretty lucid, but most of the time she was more subdued. They tried to do therapy with her so she got all the attention. She also had a nurse on duty 24 hours. I thought they were very efficient and caring. She had a room by herself. They made sure she wouldn’t fall out of bed. I just couldn’t see what else they could have done for her. They kept her comfortable. She liked to listen to music and they would make it a point to introduce her to that or allow her to hear this. I never got there and she was not clean. A couple of times they would bring the food into a room and I would help her eat. I thought she was getting the care that I would accept.
