We chose Brookdale Sherwood for my mother because they seemed to provide all the services that I was looking for. It's neat and clean, and the people are friendly. The room is nice, neat, and orderly. The countertops are nice. The cabinets are nice, and they're not falling apart or anything. They painted the room. All the paint looks fresh. The carpeting looks good. It's laid out comfortably for a senior. The dining room is very nice. The menus are placed inside of a leather jacket and you open it up and read what you choose to eat. The staff is always friendly, helpful, and willing to do whatever you need. My mother eats there and she's been eating the food, so I think she likes it. She has been to bingo and to their pizza night.

Brookdale Sherwood was OK. The facility was very clean and well organized. The dining area looked great. The rooms they showed me were set up very nicely. It looked like there would be lots of room and lots of things to do. The staff was very good and gave me all the information I needed. They had a seating area outside the front door where they could sit and get fresh air.

I was pleased with everything that I saw at Brookdale Sherwood. My only concern was the patio in the back. The outside area was dirty. There was trash that was overflowing and trash on the floor. Everything was fine inside; I have no complaints. I only met one lady and she was very friendly and very accommodating. She did great. I did not see any residents. I guess that was kind of the downside to the visit. It could have been the time of day that we were there on a weekend. We saw one resident in the hallway and two of the residents getting in the elevator. Other than that, we didn't see any residents anywhere in the facility. It was quiet and nice. Maybe that was the reason my aunt preferred the other place to Brookdale because she didn't get to experience seeing anybody there. They showed the community room where they do puzzles, watch TV, and have group activities. The apartments were very spacious and very nice.

My friend moved into Brookdale Sherwood. The staff has been great. They have done a good job of making my friend feel welcome. For the most part, the food is pretty good. There is a refrigerator and air conditioner in the room. They have a yard with a patio in the back, a salon, and a room where they do exercise.

All the employees that we have dealt with have just gone above and beyond anything we hoped for! No matter who we talk to they try their best to help us.

I like Brookdale Sherwood. I like the director. I like the ease with which they just have everything ready for their residents there. The residents seemed happy. I like that we were offered a place with more than one room. We only met the director, and we just kind of saw the other staff moving around back and forth. She's very friendly, very knowledgeable, and very empathetic. She understood, and she knew what was needed. She tried to be very helpful with offers of what we could do and what they could do. I liked that about her. She didn't try to cover up the fact that they had a hard time during Covid. Nobody was going anywhere, but that they were going to start taking them out again if Covid improved. She was very nice and told us everything. It's not very far from where I live, so that's really a good thing. I'm going to try and take my parents there. They were just really great. They did their job and are doing the very best they can with the situation in the area. They're still working on the facilities. They have little activities, like exercise class, arts and crafts class, and bingo. They try to keep the residents busy and doing things. I was very impressed with that. I met their activity person, but only for a minute. She told us who she was and introduced herself. She seemed very energetic, like she was ready to go on to the next thing. I was impressed with her.
Truthful and disgusted

The Food is horrible, We are looking for another place to move our loved one. They could afford to serve 5 star food for what they charge.

They were very kind, very informative, very good people. I really enjoyed the tour that they gave us at Brookdale Sherwood. The rooms were very expensive, but the facilities offer so much with meals, and it was very clean and beautiful. They showed us an apartment for two and an apartment for a single, which were both really pretty. They had church services every week, a really nice dining hall, places to visit, and places for games. It was just a dream for a retired person, but my dad is an old country guy and that just scared him to death. He didn’t want anything to do with all those nice facilities. He would have been more comfortable in something plain and simple. He’s kind of a loner and a musician, and even though they said they would pair him with other people with the same likes where you could do the same kinds of things with other people around you, Daddy was just closed off. Daddy was going downhill with his health and you need to be an independent person at Brookdale. You can't be dependent on nursing care; they would help you with your medications and help you go back and forth to doctors and things like that, but they didn't have the facilities for taking complete care of you. The rooms do not have an electric stove -- just a small refrigerator and a microwave because they don't want you cooking in your room, I guess, and they supply the meals all day. You can go down to a restaurant or a roomy nice cafeteria and eat there.

I visited Brookdale. The person who accommodated me was very efficient. She had all of the paperwork. She had a nurse on her staff come and talk to us about the extra fees for the additional help that my mom needed. She gave us a tour of the whole place. She was really friendly and very helpful. The rooms were very good and very nice. The only stipulation there was to bring your own furniture. They had all stuff that they could participate in, and they have a group meeting so that everybody can come and tell what they like and dislike about what happened during the month. I liked that it was kept very clean, very nice, very open, and very spacious. All of the people there knew each other really well. They had more activity rooms. They even had a chapel, which was really nice, and they had bible study.

The Brookdale Sherwood in Odessa was very dated, and they had started renovating it. The lighting and the feel of the place was more like a nursing home. It did not have the equipment for strengthening the muscles that the seniors needed. The staff wasn't as friendly. The facility was just not up to standards.

The Sherwood Place was really good, but the manager was talking in circles. You would not have any idea of how much it will cost. We asked her how much it is going to cost a month, and she could not give us a straight answer.

We were able to look at Emeritus at Sherwood Place, and to me it was so much more like a nursing home, but it was very clean. They do have activities like bingo and bridge, but I did tell them I really don’t like them.

One of the reasons we chose Emeritus was they let the residents bring animals and my mom had a dog. The place was very clean. The food was fair. I had no problem so far.

I took a tour of the Sherwood Place. The staff was very friendly and seemed to be caring towards their patients and guests. It was very clean and safe. The patients or tenants there seemed very happy. We were guided by a nice lady. She showed us all the aspects of everyday living at Sherwood place. The food looked like it was well balance and healthy. They had lots of activities and groups in place for the tenants there to participate in. We met a few of the patients and most of them were smiling and laughing. The patients rooms were well kept and inviting. If you cant be at home then this is a good option. The outside landscaping and building were clean and kept up. A nice place to call home. Id say it was a decent size with enough room for guests. Im not sure how comfy the furniture was because we didnt lay on beds or sit down. Overall i think it would certainly be a nice place to live, although nothing is as good as home.
