My mother was at Adar Healthcare. There were a couple of staff members that I thought were very worthwhile, but the rest of the place was just terrible. The facilities were old and antiquated. They didn't even have electric moving beds. The nurses or aides had to crank the foot of the bed to move it. Sadly, it looked to me that the people who were there were there because they had no choice. A tornado hit the nicer nursing home here in our town, so there was only one left unless you want to put your family member a long way away. There were a few staff members that appeared to care. The rest of the time it was like these people can't do anything about it, so they're stuck, and it was $6,000 a month. It was horrible. They hired a new director of nurses right before we came there. Her name was Debbie, and I would say she was a very high-quality employee. She was very good. Also, there's Amanda in the business office, and both of them were very, very good, caring, and trying to do everything they could for us. Everyone else at the facility that I dealt with was extremely under-par. It was awful. The food was terrible; it looked like cat food. From what I could tell from talking to them, the management overall didn't care, and that's why it was changing. They charged enough to remodel the entire place and hired top staff, and yet there was nothing.

This facility does not have enough staff on the Weekends. They are understaffed, only 2 or 3 CNA's to handle 50+ residents. This is unacceptable. The elderly should be cared for better for the money they are charged. The elderly should not have to wait and wait when they have to go to the bathroom when they can't get up by themselves. The response time when pushing the nurse button is 30+ minutes on weekends. This is unacceptable. The food is terrible. The elderly need to have a say in what meals they want. Fried foods for their evening meal is not healthy. When complaints are made nothing is done to fix the problems. The residents are at the mercy of the administrator. The owners of this facility need to inspect on a regular basis.
