My parents have moved into Neches House. It has been very positive. The staff are helpful and attentive. They have an LVN on site during the day, they do not have one onsite at night, but she is very helpful in coordinating their medical needs. They have a nurse practitioner who visits the site every Friday, so they don't have to leave to go to a doctor's appointment. They have a courtyard. The meals are really good. I've eaten there once with my parents, and it was very good. The only thing is that it's a little dated. The rooms were big, but the decor was a little dated. They have bingo, Valentine's parties, and Mardi Gras parties where the residents get together and have cookies and stuff. They have members of the community come in and do church services. They have crafts. They have an on-site beautician. One thing that they have that I think is really special is once a month they have a family night. They invite all the families to come. They provide the meals, and the families provide the dessert. The families can come and be a part of the dinner that night.

This facility went without a licensed nurse on staff for over a month. After my mother (a resident) passed away, no one from this facility came to her visitation or funeral. They did not send a plant/flowers. They could not even be bothered to send a sympathy card. After my mother had a fall, no one contacted her family. We found out days later when she asked us to take her to the doctor because she was hurting. When we confronted the staff, the “handyman” said it wasn’t their responsibility to let us know she fell, It was our mother’s responsibility to let us know. This is unacceptable!
