I went to Whisperwood Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. It's more of skilled nursing, but they do have lifetime residents there. I'm not impressed with that place at all. It felt more like a nursing home, and I didn't want my parents in that kind of atmosphere. They're too young for that. It was nice, but not a place for my parents. I can't say a whole lot about this facility because I was not impressed at all, so I didn't stick around. And they were very expensive. It was going to be $5800 per person, so that wasn't a matter of one rent and then a second person rent. They only do one person per room. But I'm not paying like $11,000. That could have something to do with the fact that it is skilled nursing, and they have a lot more staff there whereas my parents aren't up to that point of needing that kind of stuff yet. It's a lot older building, it has probably been around since the early 1960s. It's old on the inside, but they are trying to do some renovating. There's a community bathroom in the hallway and things like that. There was no individual bathroom in their rooms. I didn't try their food. I didn't even see a dining room, so it makes me wonder if they don't get their meals in their rooms. When you first walk in there, you've got offices and then you've got the nurse's station. It's like a wagon wheel and they've got hallways for different people. There's a hallway for anyone that's a couple. Then for people that have severe dementia and Alzheimer's, they have a hallway for men and a hallway for women, and those units are locked. And then they have three other hallways.

This is an older facility. It is not fancy…but it is very clean, well maintained and professionally run. The staff is attentive, caring and respectful of my loved one’s dignity. This is not the first loved one I have had in this facility…I cannot say enough about how how caring the staff is. They are awesome.

My sister is in Whisperwood Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. It is a very good nursing home, and she is happy there. I go visit her every day, and they are very caring and very nice. She is bedridden, and the staff is very nice. While I am there, they are always kind and they ask her, "Do you need anything, do you want anything, do you want us to change you?" They are always coming in and seeing how she is doing. I think they are very good nurses. They keep the facility clean. They said that they give her a bath every other day. They give the women baths one day and then the next day the men. It is just way far for me. It is all the way on 4th Street. It is a pretty clean nursing home, and I do not see anything that is dirty. The few days that I was there with her, they brought her pretty good food. She ate all of it. The only thing that I noticed when you put the light on, it took a while before they went in to check and see what you wanted.

This place needs to be investigated. I cannot believe the level of “care” my father has received. The nurses are negligent and irresponsible. My father is always having his things stolen, finding other people in his sad and worn bed, and being accused of things he didn’t do. No one pays attention to the Alzheimer’s “wing“ which is just a filthy hallway with a few tiny and dirty rooms. He has been attacked by other residents and then blamed for it with ZERO witnesses. In the midst of our mom being put on hospice and passing away, this negligent facility was constantly calling and demanding we move our dad. Oddly, they have no cameras to prove he ever hurt anyone. He has been the one with head wounds and a bloody lip. There are little to no activities to engage the residents. They just sit in the hall staring out, or sit in the “lounge” on a old couch watching tv. That’s it. They have tarnished my dads record with their ridiculous claims and now no other place will take him because of it.

The Medication technician ate my mom's psychiatric medication instead of giving it to my mom. She ended up in a psychiatric ward for 2 weeks. They also threw out all of her family photos. Shoes went missing, as well. On the abuse hotline with HHS right now.

Although this facility could appear cleaner and do something to minimize the lingering odor of urine in the facility, I am satisfied with the level of care that my loved one receives. I visit her on a regular basis and I try to visit with her room mate and friends while I am there as well. When I have asked my loved one if there is anything I can help with or if there is anything I can do to make her experience better, she always expresses she is happy and comfortable where she is. She never appears nervous or scared and despite the things I feel could be improved upon in this nursing facility..SHE is happy and as healthy as she can be. Though it can be difficult to get a call back from staff, I can easily go into the facility and ask to speak to the people I need to speak to. I happen to work in a field where I am in and out of all the local nursing facilities and I can speak that the "cleaner" and "newer-looking" nursing facilities are not all that they appear to be on the outside... As in anyone's case who lives in a nursing facility, family or a volunteer advocate should be as involved as possible in their care when possible. Find out who your loved one's favorite nurses and staff are and stay connected with them as well. After 6 months of care here, my loved one is happy with her home and I have personally witnessed the level of care the staff have provided to her when she has had health issues arise.

This is the most unprofessional place I have ever been to. The staff does not care about your loved ones. We have been through so much with this nursing/rehabilitation center. My loved one has fallen twice where they are left alone and not checked on. We have found him half way dressed sitting the hallway late in the evening with his head hanging off the chair right in front of the nurses station. They don't make sure they eat or stay hydrated even after pointing all this out with the staff and director over and over again. They can't seem to realize when someone is sick until it's way beyond what it should be and they end up in the ER with major issues. I witnessed a resident hunched over on a couch with her head on her knees and hands dragging on the floor asleep and the nurses station just a few feet away with nurses going through there and not bright enough to say "lets get you to bed". We had to go get a nurse and get them to take her to bed and that's not even our loved one. We have seen a lady resident going up and down the hallway with no clothes on and had to point it out. We witnessed a lady fall in the living room and hit her head. Things come up missing. Too many issues to point out. This place should be shut down.

We visited Whisperwood looking for a facility for my mother. We were not impressed. The building was run down and the attempted improvements were poorly done. There were many staff members standing around the nurse station, but we saw none interacting with patients. The young lady we spoke with was nice but could not answer questions fully. We noticed a sour smell within the building. When taken to another staff member to answer our questions, we were met with disinterest.
