We went to Ventura Place. The lady who did the tour was very friendly. They knew exactly what we were looking for. They're very helpful in what we will need and what we can and cannot have. And they got a lot of the residents that were there to do a meet and greet kind of thing, so that was pretty cool. The rooms were very nice. They have studios and one-bedrooms. I did not see any two-bedroom or anything like that. They have activities. They've got the TV room. They have an activities room where the residents can do bingo or other arts and crafts. They've got a little exercise area that will be supervised. They have common spaces like a courtyard, a library, and a beauty salon. The staff was very good and very friendly.

We toured Ventura Place. It was nice. They were doing some renovations on it when we were there. It was a little bit cheaper than where my mom is right now, but you had to get up and get yourself dressed in the morning and get yourself down to breakfast. It's three stories. You could live on the second or the third floor, but you have to get yourself down like they don't come up and help you get dressed if you're not feeling too well. That's not their job. The staff who gave the tour was nice. He showed us around. We were asked to stay for lunch, so we had lunch, and lunch was very good. They had a laundry room where you do your own laundry. They offer games, a pool table, and some card tables. They have a hairdresser there. You have to pay for the hairdresser, and you have to pay for your own laundry, too.

The atmosphere at Ventura Place is great. I didn't find anything bad about the place. I had lunch there yesterday and the food was very good. We had roast beef, red potatoes, salad, and carrots. The rooms were terrific. The staff was excellent. Matthew was a very charming young man.

The facilities here were nice. The people didn't look depressed. I was very favorably impressed by that one. The rooms were very nice. None of them were furnished. They're all unfurnished, which is good because I have my own furniture. Some of them come with a washer and dryer, and some don't. The manager showed me around; I was very impressed. The people were very nice. They seemed to take good care of the place. I was very impressed by the place and the way I was treated. They were very nice. They weren't high-pressure. They just showed me what they had to offer, which was what I was looking for. The building was nice. It was old, but it had been remodeled. I was favorably impressed. It had been redone and it was in good shape, so everything was very nice.

Ventura Place was a lot more open. There were cottages, so you could have a lot more privacy and freedom to go outside. You could have your car, but they still offer free shuttles. So, you could still get transportation if you needed it around town. They had a gaming area where it had checkerboards set up and other games as well, nice exercising equipment with elliptical machines, a salon, and an elevator so it's very easy to get around in the main building. They put up a volleyball net while we were there and they had volleyball in the chairs with the residents and people who were just visiting. That was fun. They have facilities all over the United States which they showed on a board. You can go and stay at least two weeks at any of them and so you always have a place to stay. They were having lunch and they let us join in and order anything we wanted. They had at least five things that day and I think they changed their venue up daily. It was a three or four-course meal. There's a fish dish, sides, and desserts at the end. They had seasoned meatballs with a sauce that was over it and pork tenderloin with the gravy over it. It was delicious and had a lot of variety. The main guy there showed us everything and was very nice. He was the one who allowed us to sit down and try out the food. He gave explanations about the rooms and their sizes in great detail. He took the time to showing us all and it was very well done.

I visited this facility

Ventura Place is an independent living facility, so it suits our needs. My father would be able to keep his pet. It is a large community. It's a very welcoming and loving community. The staff members that we met were very friendly and very helpful. They were just very helpful, and they answered our questions. They listened to what our needs were, and they were met. The only thing that we were really interested in -- and that we saw -- because this is what my father was needing, was the dining room, and it was large. The facility was beautiful.

Ventura Place would have been my choice, but it was just too big for Mom. That place was excellent, and it was my pick, but it's just too overwhelming for my mother. The staff was awesome, it's a beautiful place, and the dining area was nice. I don't have any complaints about this place. It's not a good fit for my mother, but overall everything was great, including their facilities.

Ventura Place's best feature is the nice dining facility which was sort of like a restaurant. I'm just not ready to be around a bunch of old folks. I was well-received there, chatted with for a period of time, and had a pretty thorough tour of the facility. The staff welcomed me pretty well. The rooms had a kitchen, a bedroom, and a living area, which was nice.

Ventura Place was very clean and very nice. We were ready to move there, but we had some issues with my mother-in-law. Nevertheless, the rooms were very clean, very nice, and very accommodating, and the food was good.

I was very impressed with Ventura Place's dining room, the general living room areas' cleanliness, and with the facilities in general. I only saw the inside of one room, but I was very impressed with that as well. The staff was very friendly and very helpful. One day I was there and there was a program on because it was Memorial Day. They had musicians and speeches about the United States and the people who fought for this country and piano recitals. They had a library and a little chapel that's very small but there and available for ministers from different denominations to come in and have service there on the weekends. They have a shuttle bus available to the residents four and a half days a week to bring them to doctors' appointments, shopping, or places that they might like to go around the city of Lubbock.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I have several friends that are in Ventura Place, which is very near my home, so I am very familiar with the location. I like everything there. Everybody is nice and helpful. I have eaten several meals there, and the food is excellent. The main building has three floors and houses a lot of individual centers. They have a lot of things going on all the time. They have bus transportation for anything you want to use it for. As far as I am concerned, it is a top-notch. The only thing that is holding me back is that my son lives in Houston, and he prefers I come to Houston.

Ventura Place was very good. I really appreciated the attitude of the people who talked to me. They were friendly and helpful. I had lunch there, and it was very nice. I was impressed because it has a very positive atmosphere. It was homelike, but then it was a little bit like a hotel. It was clean and neat. I liked it.

I have friends who are there at Ventura Place, and I've been there many times. It is big, and it is a wonderful place. The people there couldn't be nicer. I don't have one thing except good stuff to say about Ventura. We ate many meals over there, and the food was great.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I've been to Ventura Place several times. I have two acquaintances who are living there. Everybody who has interviewed me and talked with me has been very pleasant, very nice. I can't say enough in favor of it. It would be definitely my place to choose when I'm ready to go. They have the 1-bedroom or studio and the 2-bedroom, and then they have cottages. They have card games, and they have the health room with the machines that you can work out on. They take buses for activities away from there.
