I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Absolute worst experience ever. It took them nearly 2 days to resume critical meds when admitted, the therapy treated her awful, and she was left in bed screaming and crying in pain when she simply asked the nurse to help her move her leg- he refused. The place is unclean, nurses and staff rude and dismissive, and may have caused my mother her life. She is in the Hospital now septic because the staff and Dr. Skinner would not listen to my concerns about serious issues/symptoms I saw from her. I have taken care of my mother for 8 years now and all I requested was a simple blood draw that they made me feel crazy for. I called an ambulance when they wouldn’t listen (I was out of state and could not be there) and they refused to let me talk to my mother to tell her they were coming, or talk to her after to see if she was any more conscious when they sent the ambulance away. She is now septic in the hospital and all of this could have been avoided. Do not go there.

I cried this weekend about my Daddy since my Dad been there he has several falls .They said he slipped out his chair . When dad was home he never had this many problems. They told me they only check on the resident every two hours. I replied that is not enough checks and that why my Daddy has so many falls, and my dad said he can't find staff. MY Daddy was not shaved and he use to love taking bath and shaving but they complained he does'nt like to bath now and that bother me . They only can shower on certain days and if you don't shower those days you just miss out . This weekend i requested he get lab and I understand but something is not sounded right I am doing an out cry for all the older people please check on your family member please . This place use to be good place the level of care and staff care has gone down . the food has gone down. Staff are on there phones i have complained just ignored my out cry. if anyone is having the same problem hit my email we have to protect our parents . Before the covid outbreak we visited our Dad everyday change his bed wash all his clothes and shaved him bath him our self i am worry about all the older people not just about my daddy . We have to be there voices

My parent never gets her meds she ask for the food looks gross! She gets lied to. She is in her right mind and they treat her disrespectful. They do not want to work. At night they wake my mom up turning on the light to change her roommate around 2:00 in the morning trying to wake her up. She wears a bandana on her head. Told my mom she could only stay gone to visit 48 hours when it’s 72 hours.

I visited this facility

The facility is filthy, housekeeping obviously doesn’t do anything. I know that they didn’t clean the room my loved one was in because there was food under her bed for 3 months. They are NEVER staffed properly, one CNA to 32 residents. There were several days she didn’t get a bath because of staffing. The food is not eatable most of the time. She got a pork chop that was so hard and dry that it could of broken a window if thrown at it, she was told she couldn’t have a snack because she wasn’t on the “list’”. She is diabetic and needs her snack to keep sugar from dropping too low. I have witnessed more than once, management being rude, to staff as well as to the residents. The DON bully’s the staff they do have. The ADON has gotten in the face of an employee, putting her finger in her face, then had the gall to call the law on the employee. I have heard them tell employees to SHUT UP! I will not ever place another loved one there, at least not until some house cleaning is done, and that’s building and the sorry Administrative team.

I visited this facility

I was a patient at the plaza. I had 2 broke arms ,1 broke leg,1 crushed leg. I was there for 9 months. If it wasn't for the aides ,nurses and physical therapy. I would never have made it home. I liked it so good. I'm having a knee replacement. I'm planning on going back for therapy. I would recommend it to anyone

I am a friend or relative of resident

The Plaza at Lubbock is a horrible place. It was okay and things went unseen the first couple of times I visited. The other few times I had been by to visit, I witnessed a nurse being very rude and impatient with the roommate of whom I was visiting, It was friday at around 7pm. The nurse said "I don't have time for this, Im trying to go home". ( waiting for the elderly woman to take her medication) as I was walking out there was vomit in the drinking fountain and I informed one of the staff members and she said to me " I would be careful were you drink out of in this facility" I replied with "excuse me?" she then apologized and said she will have someone clean it up. Another time I went to visit I was told that a man in scrubs that has not been seen there before came into the room to undress my loved ones roommate and she refused to let him so he threw her down forcefully onto the bed and she started to yell which woke my relative up and he left the room. This woman has parkinson's and starts shaking violently every time a staff member walks into the room. The staff say she is "difficult" and gives them trouble but she speaks only spanish and all the times I have been to visit my relative or I have to interpret for them. I have never seen a bilingual person go in to speak with her. She is not trying to be difficult, she has legitimate reasons for being "difficult" but they would not know that because they have no one on staff that can understand her. I asked about a interpreter and they said they do have one but she's always busy. On top of all of this my relative has developed ring worm in different areas of her body as well as another woman in a different room, So I am guessing they are not sanitizing the shower stalls or the laundry correctly. Also they do not follow the menu, my relative says they runout of food sometimes so all she is offered are the sides to the main dish.

I visited this facility

When I was a kid growing up in Lubbock, our church youth group used to take Sunday Morning Service to what we ignorantly referred to as "the old folks home." Though it is certainly an awful reference for a venue where I have had numerous family members pass on, its negative connotation is somewhat warranted"”a place where teen "angels feared to tread." I watched elder family members practically whither away here and in a few other similar places throughout Lubbock over the years. Often, and most likely ill funding, weak and apathetic nurses and staff were flaws I believe that potentially contributed to the abridged lifespan of some family members. And then, there was that hospital-like odor that is still easily evoked by sense memory. It is as if the Grim Reaper is breathing down my neck as I write. In sum, they were not homes, but rather, abandoned vineyards. Fortunately, The Plaza at Lubbock has been more like the Garden of Eden for my 83-year-old grandma, all five of her children, extended family and friends, and for me, her 42-year-old grandson, who now lives in New York City. The Plaza has so much to offer, and I have seen my grandma go from being bedridden at home to an energetic, sociable, alert lady who walks about on her own, confident in herself. From debilitated to rehabilitated"”my family has The Plaza's wonderful comprehensive rehabilitation and activity programs, and highly dedicated and kind staff, to thank for this miracle. Prior to her becoming a long-term resident at The Plaza at Lubbock, my grandma, who was somewhat agoraphobic, is now the queen of Dominos during game time if she not playing Wii. She is pals with her nurses; she has even nicknamed her favorite tech, "Little Bit." She has even been caught flirting with the fellows a time or two, too. My grandma, whom I love so dearly, enjoys the innumerable amenities"”she can even get her hair and nails done on-site. What she enjoys, as well, are the various entertaining outings and the variety of in house activities. She has not been so active since I was a child, when she and my grandpa operated their own large vegetable garden. Furthermore, The Plaza allows 3 day passes to go home, her home, and they send her equipped with all her necessary meds and other necessities for her overnights away. Also, family and friends can come visit for meals or take her out. The Plaza even has a private dining room for large family/friends meal gatherings. I polled my aunts and uncles, my cousins, my sister and asked them to rate The Plaza at Lubbock"”they along with myself, all gave it 5 Stars. I heard through the grapevine that the mother of Lubbock's wealthiest realtor is a resident, too (cannot confirm that, though); but I do know my grandma has been financially poor her whole life, and her stay at The Plaza is completely covered by her Medicare and Medicaid plans; moreover, what is most important is that my grandma personally benefits from living there, and The Plaza seems to have contributed much to her newfound riches of spirit. This is definitely no "old folks home!' Check out The Plaza at Lubbock at http://www.lubsnf.com
