Rooms are big for Semi Private Rooms. Private rooms are nice as well as Private Suites! They have closets and drawers separating room and not just a curtain to separate room. Facility is beautiful with big huge windows, staff is great! Staff is helpful with Medicaid Pending Questions and they also have a Medicaid Liason and a Worker for Medicaid Benefits!

We took my sister to The Garrison Geriatric Education and Care Center, and our experience with them has been pretty good. It wasn't quite as great as we thought it was going to be, but I guess nothing ever is. They promised you a lot of things will be a certain way so that they can get you in there and then it kind of changes, but I know that they've had a bunch of management changes, so maybe that has something to do with it, and we're hoping that it gets better for her. The rooms are pretty good. It could use some updating though, like some paint. My sister says the food is not great. The staff is good, but they're shorthanded and it seems like they are like that all the time. One of the best things about it is they always have something going on each day for the residents. The physical therapy department is also awesome.

Please don’t take your loved ones here! My 93 year old grandmother was here after a fall for rehabilitation. The nurses seemed knowledgeable, the therapists were great, the administrators were responsive, but the Aids... the ones that have constant one on one interaction with the residents were terrible! I would say bordering on abusive. When I visited I was appalled by the care my grandmother was receiving. Unclean living circumstances, bed sores from lack of attention and help moving, a complete lack of interest in her needs. Call time to get an attendant to help us after we rang the bell for assistance was sometimes over 30-40 minutes. Sometimes they would help her into the bathroom and just leave her there for so long that her legs would go to sleep and really start hurting! My grandmother has Alzheimer’s and she never complains but because of that, the aids just continued to neglect my grandmother’s needs. I spoke to the staff multiple times, the head of nursing, and even higher ups not thw administration. They all seemed supportive and kept promising they would see to my concerns immediately. Apparently, they were either lying, or they don’t actually have any control over the actions of the aids because it did NOT get better. By the time we moved my grandmother to another facility her wounds were now open sores bleeding profusely. It was so bad that the staff at the new place were crying when they saw how badly she was treated. I know there are not that many skilled nursing facilities in Lubbock, but please take special care when thinking of this place. They were absolutely horrible to my grandmother.

Years ago The Garrison Center was the place to go if you were in need of help with a loved one. Unfortunately, now, the quality of care is poor. The way the nurse's and aides treat patients with they think no one is looking is despicable. The front office workers are less than inviting, very unhelpful and quite bluntly, very rude and do not bother to make you feel welcome. If you have a problem you will constantly get the run around and never have any problems resolved. They have not had a social worker on staff now for sometime but keep saying she starts in 2 weeks. Yes, when you need a social worker to help you with very important decisions no one has the ability to help you. The lack of communication among co-workers and between employees and the family is an embarrassment. I am certain if Mr. Garrison was still alive today he would never allow for something with his name on it to be run so poorly and inadequately.
