This is one of the worst facilities. My uncle is there and he is not being treated well. The nurses don't even clean him up. The nurse said my uncle likes sleeping in poop. I wish someone could help report them the only way it works if we all get together.

I visited this facility

The building is sub standard and at least 50 years old. Four residents must share on restroom which is not big enough to bring a wheel chair into. There are no handrails. They blame the staff for the problems but the building is old and not safe for wheelchair bound residents among many safety related problems of an old building.

I visited this facility

The staff and atmosphere of the facility has changed significantly over the last 8 months! The staff are more accomodating. If you reach out to one of the directors, with anything, they make you and your loved one a priority and resolve even the smallest of problems. They are honest and upfront with you from the start. I have seen the new DON personally caring for and interacting with the residents. The new business office manager is sweet, caring, and honest! It's a completely different vibe then a year ago. GO SOUTHERN and keep striving!

I am a friend or relative of resident

DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONE TO SOUTHERN SPECIALTY. I would not even give one star for this facility but in order to leave a review I have to give one. This facility required the full month payment for my cousin in advance so my aunt paid it immediately. My cousin had cancer and the facility could not manage his pain. His doctor gave instructions to transport him to the emergency room via ambulance. When I relayed the instructions to the nurse I was yelled at and told that I needed to let her do her job and that my cousin did not need to go to the emergency room. She stated she had 30 years experience, she's a nurse and she knows when a patient needs to go to the emergency room. That night my cousin's pain was unmanageable at their facility and suffered dearly throughout the night. The next morning the facility transported him to his doctor appointment and the doctor's office immediately sent him to the emergency room. My cousin never went back to Southern Specialty and four months later, my aunt has not received a reimbursement for the days she had prepaid. We have called for two months regarding the reimbursement and have only received the run around. I personally have spoken with Brittany and Raymond regarding this matter and have been promised they would follow up and return my phone calls. Not one phone call was ever returned. As of today, Brittany informed me that the account had been "zeroed" out and I needed to contact corporate to speak with Vivian. Of course, I had to leave a voice mail message. DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONE TO SOUTHERN SPECIALTY. They will not be cared for.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

I put my brother in Southern Hospitality Home. I like it and the staff. The nurses are very nice and very helpful. The rooms are adequate and nice. My brother likes the food. The dining room is nice and not cafeteria-style but more of a dining room in a home kind of setting.

This place is hell on earth for its patients! Urine and Poop fill the air; patients don't get bathed for days or even weeks; call lights stay on for hours. If you hate your family member than send them here. I had to rate this place 1 star because my review wouldn't be excepted otherwise. NO STARS!
