My wife is in a long-term care facility, Heritage Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She has been there for three months now. The place is clean when you walk in. They have smoking areas outside for people who smoke. I don't think they cleaned it since my wife has been in there. I saw cigarette butts, but it is outside. They could do an upkeep on it. The people are nice. At least to me when I go in there, they're all friendly and nice, and if you ask them questions, they are willing to answer everything. My wife is not too happy with the place. She doesn't like the food. Most of it she won't eat. I've talked to her psychiatrist three times now, and I did a one-on-one interview with him on Wednesday, and he was very nice. They gave me a complete rundown of what was going on with my wife. As far as the place is concerned, I would rate it somewhere between a B-minus and a C-plus. They have private rooms, but the one that my wife is in is a shared room. There are two beds. Her bed is right inside the door, then there's a curtain after that and an area on the other side. There are two armoires for them to put clothing in. They have a chest with five drawers and there are two drawers at the bottom of the armoires. They can hang clothes and put their private things in there. Then it's a shared bathroom, of course. They have activities. They have a television in the dining area where they can go in and sit and watch TV. They have a lounge here in the front, but there is no TV, just windows that you can look out and watch cars drive by. They have activities which my wife won't participate in. And then she gets therapy, I was told, three days a week. I think the staff is good, and that's my personal opinion from my interaction with them when I go in to visit my wife. If I ask them questions or want them to do something, they're very attentive.

We got mom into Heritage Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. We're rather pleased with that. It's fantastic. They're very nice to her. I call her every day. I got her a cellphone so that we could talk to her, and the nurses are very, very cooperative and they help me. The administration has been super cooperative, so I'm very pleased. I'm very impressed with the staff. She says sometimes the food is a little dry, but it is OK. She just doesn't eat that much. The outdoors are fantastic. The parking is a little tight, but beyond that, it's fine. It seemed to have everything that we needed and mother needed to get in there, so we just took it.
