I went to Whispering Pines Lodge I, but it was more of a nursing facility and my cousin didn't need that. She would have a shared bedroom, and it just didn't fit my cousin. It's a little bit older. It was more of a hospital atmosphere. The staff was wonderful. She wouldn't have gotten choices there. You just eat what they give you. They had bingo that was going on while I was there and they just had a Halloween party.

Whispering Pines Lodge was in the middle of renovations, so we didn't get to go very far. There was a smell of urine, but it wasn't a horrible place. The people seemed nice and the semi-private rooms had a bathroom with a sink and a toilet. Once they get it renovated, I think it might be nice. They also had a list on the bulletin board, and every day something was going on two or three times. They had a secure unit, but they couldn't take us through it because there was a lot of remodeling and a lot of painting. You can decorate the rooms though and put stuff in them. They had the hospital bed type of thing in the room where the nurses can raise the patient or lower them.

My father had been in Whispering Pines Lodge after surgery. I had mixed feelings about it, the people there were very nice, the nurses and staff were doing everything they can, but they have so many people in there, and they tried not to just make them stay in their rooms, so there's traffic up and down the halls all the time, and at all hours. It wasn't an atmosphere that I think would help him. They were clean, friendly, and did the best they could. The rooms were okay, double occupancy, kind of small, but they had their own bathroom. He had physical therapy, and they got him up and going really fast. They had movie nights, but he did not do a whole lot, because he was recovering.
