My mom is a resident of Carriage Inn - Lake Jackson. Her overall experience has been positive. She has enjoyed the community and the activities. Her room is nice-sized, it's a little dated but well-maintained. The residents enjoy the food, and they seem to have a good amount of choices. Their dining area is very pleasant. They have waiters, and they can choose where they sit. For activities, they have monthly gala nights, bingo, ice cream, popcorn games, and book clubs, and they also have weekly excursions to local sites. The best thing about this community I would say is the community spirit. They look out for one another and are very welcoming. Their staff are very warm and friendly.

Low quality housing, but prob better than most in LJ, so they charge more than the better places in Houston, who have competition. No building security, theft was common in Assisted Living, food is just unacceptable if not unsafe and served off-temperature, “emergency” call pendants and cords aren’t tested and often they just don’t respond to them, staff does not wash hands or use hand sanitizer (especially med techs and those serving food!). COVID and stomach “bugs” are common and easily passed to all residents. Many staff encourage and accept gifts and money from residents, even those with dementia. A few staff are really sweet and caring; they are the only good spot in this place. But they can’t overcome the grifters, nor the poorly run and underfunded mess that they call “assisted” living here. Go elsewhere. My folks were here less than 4 years. My father died of a massive stroke; no one in Assisted Living (not even the head nurse) realized anything was wrong for several days, then they said he just probably had a urinary tract infection. Hospital said otherwise; he died a week later. I moved Mom.

Carriage Inn - Lake Jackson was an overall nice place. I liked the location and convenience getting in and out and accessibility. It seemed a little on the small side. Everything seemed just a little small. It wasn't as spread out. Although the staff was pleasant enough, I did not click with them as well as I did at the other facility. They had the proper amenities that people would need to be able to sustain themselves, to be able to have a pleasant life and still have the proper level of care needed or assistance needed. They had a courtyard, a salon, a barber shop type thing, and a barber comes in periodically. They had a bus, so they could go shopping and get out from the facility and do various tours and stuff like that, something to keep people occupied and entertained.

The staff in the residents at Carriage Inn - Lake Jackson were all very friendly when I toured. The accommodations were very nice, they had more space and a full kitchen compared to the other place I toured. All the shared spaces or community spaces were very nice, the outdoor courtyard was beautiful, and they had flowers and pathways. It's just a nice facility all around. The living space was also more accommodating, there was more space. It's outside of our price range, but they still have better prices than the other ones I toured.

Carriage Inn - Lake Jackson was very clean. The people were very professional. The room we looked at looked really nice, but for my parents, coming from a four-bedroom, 2,800 square foot home, it was a shock. What was available as far as the two rooms and a very, very small living room area was a turnoff. The good thing is they had great menus and a great lunch area. They even had a hairdresser there, nails, and an ice cream parlor. It had some really cool things that they liked. It was just a lot of walking in the place. It's a big place. Other than that, they really kept it up well and the staff seemed to be great and very knowledgeable. She wanted us to see everything and we did. She was very helpful. It was topnotch, clean, and smelled good. Most of the places you go into don't smell as good as that one. They definitely have one of the best facilities I've seen.

The people are very informative. The two ladies were very informative. They showed us all over, showed us the room, sat down and talked about it, and discussed what my uncle's needs were, and we were very impressed with all of that. The place was very clean, it's right close to my house which is even better. They answered all the questions that we had plus gave us so much information. They gave us the menu and it was very healthy and I think things would be something my uncle would like. It was very clean and smelled good. The room has everything you need, the bathroom was real, nice, roomy. The room was nice and freshly painted. I think it was just the showroom. I think it had a sink, a small table, and two chairs.

It was very nice and very clean. The room was very spacious and very well lit, but I didn't think that the lady that gave us the tour was very knowledgeable. Other than that, there was nothing wrong with the place, it just wasn't what we needed at the time.

It was very elegant. It was very nice. It was like a very fancy hotel. They have a limousine that carries the people around town to do their shopping. The staff was very cooperative and extremely friendly. I have worked with the afterschool program and every Christmas we take our children there to sing and to do a little play for the residents when they come to eat their meals. We have been doing that so long, they know us very well. The apartments were kind of an open concept, bright and cheery with built-ins. I have not eaten there, but I have observed what they get there and it's very nice. Whenever we come, the kitchen always provides cookies and treats for the children and that's very nice. It is all homemade, not store bought. The dining area was like sort of going to a cafeteria with round tables. It was like an open concept. They can see out the back windows to the back gardens and they can see out the front windows to the street. There is a fireplace that they can see from where they're sitting. I would love to eat there. They have activities probably more than anybody can handle. They play games and they have special speakers come and give program. I would definitely recommend this place to others.
