The staff of the Willows was very supportive of our situation and helped with the paperwork for a POA. They allowed us to decorate mom's room so it wouldn't look so "clinical" although the rooms have wallpaper borders. There is a variety of activities for the residents to choose from, and they are invited to attend and not just figure it out on their own. The business office was very helpful in wading through the Medicaid paperwork. The Administrator was welcoming and kind and knows my mom's name. I would highly recommend "The Willows of Kilgore."

My Mother was a resident of the Willows. She passed away August 6, 2022. All we as the family know is, our Mother fell two times. The first time my sister was not notified. The second fall my sister was contacted sometime after 3:00 am that our Mother was on her way to the hospital in Longview Texas. That hospital did not have any beds so they transferred her to Mother Francis in Tyler Texas where they revealed that she suffered a fractured bone in her neck and broken bones in her back. She was 91 years old. I understand that my Mother was fragile but what I don’t understand is how can a woman who was walking, talking and eating to go to not walking, not talking and not eating. The doctor who was her physician wanted to perform surgery on a 91 year old woman, she couldn’t have survived this surgery so he released her to go back to the nursing home, The Willows. Our Mother died. Autopsy report revealed preliminary death pulmonary embolism and multiple blunt forces, what happened to our Mother? Not getting no cooperation, getting hung up when call the facility, the staff even told the ME office that they didn’t have a fax number for medical records then called the ME office to apologize and provide a fax number. Why did this have to happen? What is going on with this facility? Why has two other people which one was my Mother’s roommate has died? All we want to know is what happened and that the staff I want you to know that you also have loved ones how would you feel if this happened to your Mother? This is not right, what are you hiding, how can you live with yourself and God do not like ugly people. I know that Mama wasn’t going to live forever but I didn’t expect for my Mother to leave this world so bruised, not able to walk or talk at the very end of her life. It’s too emotional to even continue. I will miss my Mama. Shame on you.

My mom went to The Willows in Kilgore for physical therapy after having a stroke. I made them discharge her today and brought her out of that place. After 20 days: therapy people were doing great but mom had only been bathed once, soiled clothes were left on her for several days, personal items in her room were missing or tampered with and bed linens were left unattended so had to change them myself. Just a bunch of lazy workers there to get a paycheck. It was very difficult to sit in my mom's room and listen to the other residents screaming and yelling for the CNA's while they were constantly being ignored.

Today I needed help with my Mother. She became some one that needed around the clock care. Thank you for those that eased my worries and took the weight off my shoulders. Got the coverage she needed, got the transfer made smoothly for her and me. Seeing that familiar face that Mom and I both know and love. The calls to let me know that she is settled and the call to make sure that the transfer and that I was steers free. Y'all are the BEST. Thank you.

Though not a new facility, the staff is exceptional and treat my mom and our family like their family. They are not shy to dismiss one from duty if the care is not up to par. I feel secure with leaving my mom in their care.

We had a wonderful experience at this facility. My father came in for rehab. The nursing staff treated us like family. We highly recommend this facility over any other in Kilgore.

I got to the facility in the morning the residents were having breakfast in the cafeteria and it was one of the residents birthdays. The kitchen staff was very friendly and interacted alot with the residents and my group of nursing students. the Nurses and other staff members were very friendly towards us and worked well with the residents. they knew the residents very well and the needs of there patients and the best way to meet those goals. whenever a resident had a need the staff was quick to address their needs and help them out. The facility was very organized and they had alot of activities for the patients. I would have liked to have seen more turning of the patients to prevent bed soars which are common in an assisted living facility. all in all I would give this facility and positive review because I was generally impressed with there patient care.
