My sister was there with stage 4 breast cancer . I can tell you first hand that she was treated terrible. She was left in soiled pants for long periods of time . She couldn’t sit up to eat and they would just bring her food and leave it .. it was a horrible place. If you don’t let this review show I will contact the state people need to know these things before leaving their loved ones here.

My main complaint was the problems the business office n I had with the medicaid office n my Dads finances. The Medicaid office couldn’t get Dads retirement income straight. They finally did. Medicaid is done with his case . But we are still getting an outstanding bill that nobody knows where it’s coming from. We were getting 2 bills on Dad a correct one ( which was paid off ) n one that the office lady can’t figure out where it came from. Dads been gone sense last September 2017. This is 6/5/18 n were still getting that bill. It’s nerve racking ! Dad paid his full checks to Sunflower every month . He was supposed to get $60. for spending money per month which never happened. They required his full payments. The Medicaid office couldn’t look at his bank statements n figure out that was all the money he had coming in. Once when I called that Medicaid office n explained all this to her , the lady said, “ “Well what do you want me to do?” There’s been at least 4to 5 different people working in the financial office. It’s been a nerve racking fight the whole time. He’s gone n it still is with this incorrect bill. Answers to questions below: *The rooms weren’t cleaned sometimes because of low staff members. *I had great relationships with the staff members that were there consistently through the years both my parents were there. I would say lifetime friends. *My parents enjoyed the visits from Elvis n anything dealing with music n worship. They loved it when church groups came n regular visits.

My dad has been a resident here for a month or so and we have had many ups and downs getting him adjusted. Most of his care givers have been very helpful but getting him a bath has been a real issue. He is on a bath schedule but apparently it's only a suggestion. Totally unacceptable!!!

Stinks most of the time of urine. Not much going on activity wise. Friendly and helpful. The smell is unbearable.. that is the biggest complaint. Go and be an active part of your loved ones care no matter where you put them.

Mad as a wet hen!

I signed my daddy into this facility on September 2, 2014; I figured out Sunday before thanksgiving how much of a terrible mistake that was! I had hospice plus (great company) going in every day during the week as a 'second' set of eyes and I just felt he needed more baths than twice a week his head always smelled soured when he only had 2 baths a week plus with having no bowel/bladder control I just felt he needed more cleaning as I know when I took care of him at home I kept his bottom super clean when I changed his diaper I always used warm water and a wash rag to clean all the urine and feces off plus I would put a heavy coating of cream on his bottom I also taught my siblings to take care of his changing the same way! He kept me clean when I was a baby he deserved the same from us! Well at sunflower if you didn't demand the diapers to be kept closed they lay in the bed with only a sheet over their privates as the diaper was never closed! My daddy was put on oxygen and morphine the day before he passed but none of his children were called to be informed of this fact! It took me calling the day after all that happened and asking what was going on with him and her informing me that if I had a way out there I needed to come see him, she was crying as she was telling this to me!!! I then called my 2 brothers and told them to get up there ASAP as daddy was dying! I told my husband we had to go to kaufman because daddy wasn't going to be there tomorrow! We all got up there luckily having time to tell him we loved him! My husband was beyond pissed and went to the desk demanding an answer as to why we weren't called to spend his last 2 days with him since the hospice nurse on duty had told us the morning nurse had left word at the front desk to call the family in. Not one of the 4 of us received that call, if my sister hadn't been there that day we wouldn't have known about what was going on! I wasn't able to get there until his last 20 minutes of his life just enough time for my husband son and myself tell him we loved him and goodbye! That was just unbelievable that we were treated like that! Or that he was treated like that! I should add, they took him as a Medicaid contingency patient which means that his room & board would be paid by Medicaid when he was accepted to Medicaid, sunflower park required me to give them a credit card or some other means of payment knowing they had to wait for Medicaid to pay them! (All of you Medicaid contingency folks realize that you are not required to guarantee any type of payment if you're waiting on Medicaid to approve your application! Sunflower should never have asked for a payment for the first month! They took him as a contingent Medicaid meaning they take the chance the application wouldn't be approved so if they didn't get paid Medicaid takes up to 90 days to run your application thru it's share the patient has to be taken care of like they r getting paid for that teeny tiny room! I gave 1 star and shouldn't have checked any stars! God help you if sunflower is the only thing you can find to put your loved one in, you'd be better off leaving them at a neighbors house! There's a better home in Wills Point you should use !!!

After my experience this past Sunday I am being VERY generous giving 1 star! My father was a resident at Sunflower park for about 3 months. This past Sunday my daughter phoned to request they not take a dinner tray to my Daddy because we were going to bring dinner to him their response was, "great, we'll see you soon." I walked into my fathers room to find him on oxygen & unresponsive!! When I asked why he was on oxygen I was told his oxygen level had dropped below 95 so they put it on him the day before...I have NO problem with them making that decision my problem is his children were not notified!! They had also given him morphine without notifying his children!! When hospice left my fathers room Sunday morning they left orders for his children to be notified which Sunflower Park neglected to do! If I hadn't showed up when I did my siblings note myself would have been present when our father passed...it was bad enough none of us were with him on his last day until the last 3 hours of his life!!
