My mom has moved into The Village of River Oaks. We chose them primarily because it's pretty close to where we live, and they have a Hoyer lift accessibility. The place is brand new and beautiful. Everybody seems very friendly and helpful. They have activities all day long. They got puzzles, cribbage, painting, and of course they got food. There's food out for the residents all the time, and they've got outdoor areas where you can sit outside in the sunlight. They've got a nice view of downtown. They publish an itinerary every day and hand it out to all residents. They have a piano player that comes in once or twice a week and plays piano for them. I think it's pretty typical for a living facility. The food is fine. It's not Four Seasons, but it is good and it's quality food. The place is very expensive though. There's nothing perfect, but this is probably the closest you could get.

Everybody at The Village of River Oaks was very welcoming. The rooms felt nicer. I felt like I could live there myself. It seemed like they spent a lot of attention on their residents. It was very nice. It felt more like I was living in an apartment or something like that, with staff to help me. It had a good feel to it. They have an area where they do a lot of their gatherings. They had a nice dining area. They also had a valet and a salon where they could get their nails and hair done. It seemed a little bit more posh. It was very clean, too. You could tell that they took very good care of it. I liked it. The people were very helpful. They were very nice. I saw some of the residents there. They all look like they were well taken care of. Everybody seems to be pretty happy there.

My parents will be moving into The Village of River Oaks. The facility is more compact. The prices, especially the down payment, are a lot more reasonable. It's just a really nice community. The lady who showed us around was really nice. I liked her a lot. She knew all the patients that we saw by first name. She knew all the staff, and she was knowledgeable about every single room that we went to. They have a shuttle service that is included with the rent. It takes them anywhere they want to go for up to a ten-mile radius around the community. If they want to go further than that, there's a fee for that. They can go to the museums, zoo, and galleries around the area. They have a gym, a balcony, and exterior and interior common areas. There's a pool on the ground floor. They have salons, different gaming areas throughout the building, and a covered garage. It's right next door to two luxury condominiums and upper-income neighborhoods, so crime is not going to be a factor. There is light, water, and sanitation included in the rent. They have a 20-point stipend per day that they can use for their meals. There's a physical trainer who has classes that they perform. They have doctors and a medical staff that comes by on certain days. Everyone that I met was courteous and polite.

The Village of River Oaks gave me an extensive tour of the memory care area. I got to see the residents out in the common areas. I talked to a few staff members, and I saw the rooms. Overall, it's very good. They limit their memory care to 35 residents, which is at the top end of what I was comfortable with. A couple of the residents there were very nice. They stopped and talked with me. Everybody seemed very happy to be there for sure. The facility itself was on par with the other places I visited. It had a small outside area. It had a large common area for the residents. It also had a salon. There's not a lot of ground space. However, everybody seemed pleasant. The staff members I talked to were fine.

My parents will be moving to The Village of River Oaks. I once was invited to a barbecue there, so I went. The people there and the director, Laura, she was very nice and offered to show me if I wanted to see the apartment. I said I just want to meet the residents, and so she took me around and introduced me to more than a dozen people who were just so nice. The residents there, the staff, everybody was just really nice people. It had a good home feeling to it. It wasn't super duper fancy or crazy, but it was really nice and kept up clean. All the residents were clean, they were all well taken care of, so it's more the feel of it that I really liked. My dad was not in the best of health and I explained that to the directing nurse, and I asked whether they can go in as independent or assisted. She asked me to write up some information about his medications and prognosis, and they accepted him and his mom. I don't know how long they're going to be independent, but that's a good place to start. They have the option to make their own meals or go to the dining room that serves three meals a day. We stayed for lunch and it was so good. They also have a full kitchen, a full refrigerator, and everything in their own apartment. Every Friday night they have happy hour down in the main guestroom or ballroom or living room, and so they get together and they have drinks, and they have a band or something every Friday. Once a month, they do a big event out on the patio, which is really nice. It just brings everybody together; that was the barbecue thing that I went to. They also have daily exercise classes every day, a pool, and they have an activities room. The facility is eight stories, it's very nice. The monthly fee is a bit high compared to some of the other places we looked at. The company is currently painting their apartment and they'll be moving in.

The Village of River Oaks was beautiful with lots of beautiful common areas. The menu in the dining facility looked fantastic, the people and the staff that I met were very nice and professional. It's a new facility, and I like the location. They also have meals, but I did not sample them.

I had an in-person tour of The Village of River Oaks. It was super close to our house. The staff members were also super nice. The facility was also super clean. The layout was fine. It was just I don't think it would work for us because it was more of an urban feel, I guess, kind of a high-rise living. My dad's going to want more of a country feel, and trees and grass and that kind of stuff.

I chose The Village of River Oaks. The building was brand new. It's only four years old, so everything was new. The main thing is they had a big suite available that they gave me the deal on. That was probably the primary thing was the value of the size of the suite, where it was located, and that it was a real good value. Secondly, I would say the distance or the time it takes me to get from my house over to there. I'm familiar with that area. I don't have a problem as far as remembering how to get over there, and the drive isn't impossible. I was looking for memory care for my parents. We saw the building. The guy was very thorough and was answering questions, which you'd expect. He was very enthusiastic, very animated, and accommodating. They had parking. You could park your car inside the gate, so that was good. It looked nice going into it. Aesthetically, it looked fine. They did have an area that I thought was sort of unique. It was like going outside, but you really weren't going outside. It was all like a certain floor. You could go out and sort of enjoy the fresh air, but it's like you couldn't jump out of the building or anything like that. You can enjoy the outdoors, but not be on the first floor where somebody might wander into traffic or who knows what they might do. It was safe for people to go out there. It was a pretty big area, so a lot of people could mill around in there to feel some fresh air.

I was very impressed at The Village of River Oaks. I went to see their memory care. Everything was bright. Everybody seemed active and doing things, and the atmosphere was just nice. The staff was excellent, and the rooms were very nice. The location, for me, is excellent. It's just right down the street. I can walk to it.

My overall experience of touring The Village of River Oaks was excellent. Their amenities are unbelievable, I think I could live there. Their food, the service, the people, the facilities, they're very, very nice. It's only like four years old. They have an indoor swimming pool, they have a pool table, movie nights, a craft room where they can do puzzles. They also have trips to museums and things, if you like. They have very, very good food, I can attest to that. My brother will be moving in there.

We went to The Village of River Oaks. They were very attentive, and they scheduled me quickly. I felt like they were listening to our needs. It was very nice and upscale. If I were going to a senior living, I would want to live there. They had great relations. I felt like I was accommodated there. It was early in the morning, so I wasn't able to see as many of the people that live there in action. The facilities were very clean, and they had medium sized rooms. It looked like a real living space. It felt like a tiny apartment rather than a hotel room. I had a good impression of that. They had a swimming pool. There are shopping centers in the River Oaks area, and they had buses to shopping. I had a good feeling about it. However, I felt like the staff didn't have a background in medical stuff. The person was from a hotel. He couldn't really answer specific questions about elderly people's needs. The food looked delicious. I didn't try it, and I was a little confused because there were prices next to it. I couldn't tell if the dining room was a restaurant or like a cafeteria. It was unclear if they were going to be paying, like if you want a chicken. I didn't know how that worked. The facility was new and up-to-date. They gave us wine at the end. I felt like they're trying to sell me the place.

I didn't want to go to The Village of River Oaks because I thought it was too far out from where I needed to be, but after seeing it, I decided it's lovely, and I'm moving in there. I walked in and there was a very, very warm feeling about it. I looked at some others that were very cold, and this was very comfortable and decorated beautifully. It really is very, very lovely. It has an elegance about it, and I'm very pleased with it. The staff was pleasant and took me around, and they're following up with things that I needed. They've been very good. It's a very good facility, very nice, laid out well, and there were a sufficient number of elevators at different locations.

This memory care facility has the most important thing you should be looking for. Caring caregivers, Resident directors and executive and assistant directors. The medic team the caregiver director are all OUTSTANDING. After over a year I can say they care. They are constantly trained and what we all want for our parents or loved ones is being well cared for. Everything else you can visually see which is great. But the care, you have to know. 5 stars. They are also so receptive to any comments and will do everything in their power to make it better or change

We visited The Village of River Oaks. They had some very nice apartments, although some of the better ones on the higher floors were taken up. They didn't have a very flexible plan for meals. Essentially, you have to eat all your meals there. They had very nice kitchens and you can cook on your own if you want to, but you have to pay for meals, and that's not a very workable situation. The other thing we don't like about the place was it's awfully crowded. The buildings were very crowded together. There's absolutely zero green space, so you're essentially living in a hotel and also the lower floors look out on a whole bunch of electrical stuff. There's no room to break it up with some green space. It's not a place that we would consider moving to. There are many places that allow flexible meal plans, and this place does not. The people who work for them are wonderful. The price is on the high end, but it's not because of the rent on the apartment, but because you're required to eat all the meals there.

I had a nice visit with Luis, who took the time to understand my parents' unique considerations. The place has all the important amenities, and the food tastes very good. Their pricing is competitive. I also love the location. I think it would be a good choice for my parents.
