I visited this facility

The place that I like the best down here is the Tradition-Buffalo Speedway. I like all of their amenities. The staff who toured us were very welcoming, very informative, and very helpful. I tried their food, and it's excellent. There's an indoor swimming pool, a gymnasium, an indoor courtyard, and balconies if you're not on the ground floor. There are several facilities for eating, like a café and formal dining. There's also indoor parking. It's just wonderful.

We thought The Tradition-Buffalo Speedway was very nice. The employees there were all very nice. It was light and bright. We ate lunch there, and the food was very good. The apartment seemed nice, clean, and a good size.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

The Tradition is a beautiful setting for our Mother and she has come to feel that it is her new home. She has stabilized during her two and a half years on the Memory Care Unit and my family is grateful for that. She has received good medical support during a few challenging times. The Directors of Nursing Shay and Stephanie have been responsive to both my family and my mother during this time that she has been in Memory Care. I truly know that they genuinely work diligently every day to provide for the residents at Tradition and I can speak on behalf of my own mother and say that that has made difference for the better for her during this time in her life. Shay also referred us to an excellent private care practitioner in Houston which has also been helpful beyond words which led to our mothers successful recovery. The nursing directors have been clear about what our mother has needed and were correct. They knew the limitations of what can be provided , they both told us their assessment for her care needs , made recommendations for a sitter and our family responded. Our mom benefitted. Food is very good. Environment is clean and attractive. Staff are professional and kind. My only recommendation for the Tradition administration If feasible would be to hire more caregivers. A sitter is an additional charge. A sitter also keeps mom safe due to her advancing memory loss. More staff would help out on this matter. Overall, I give the staff and facility high marks. Thankyou.

We went to The Tradition-Buffalo Speedway. We've been there several times. We toured it about three or four times. It was very good. We had dinner there. The food was outstanding and excellent quality. I wish they had a bigger apartment. The apartments lack storage. I liked that one. The parking is good; you're under the unit. It's all brand new. It had a nice swimming pool. It's all very good except the location. I don't wanna go there because there's nothing around it. It's not near a restaurant or shopping. You had to get in your car and drive to get there. There's a gas station across the street. I think it's 5 stories. It's all clean and tidy. People are friendly. There were no loose moldings or doors that don't fit right.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Recently my mom went from independent to respite to hospital. She was in respite for 6 weeks. While in hospital, J* asked me to meet with the care team. At this time we were trying to obtain rehab for 2-3 weeks, so care team, meeting was pre mature. When I arrived at meeting, there were 3 administrators, including R*(VP of Dallas and Houston locations), C* (vp of Houston division), J* (director of marketing), and the director of nursing (new to the job 2 weeks, therefore had minor contact with my mom). They wanted to discuss admission to assisted living, even though we had only recently admitted to hospital. 1. Told if mom needs more than 8 meds there was an upcharge. This included vitamins, Tylenol, hand lotion, and could include chapstick because she could eat it (said by C*). 2. There is an upcharge if she needs assistance to toilet. And a different upcharge if she needs assistance to dining hall. 3. I suggested 24 hr nursing provided by a licensed nursing agency that I would pay for myself. I would still pay upcharge “in case they didn’t show”. Though if she required care that they cannot provide later in life (hospice care), that’s ok, because there is a “really good” hospice company. 4. I suggested going to independent living with 24 hour agency licensed nursing care. They would not allow this, since if they did not show up, mom cannot “independently evacuate “. If I attempted this, R* would call adult protective services. 5. The first week my mother was under their care, the tv didn’t work. They left an 86 yo woman in a room with tv or radio, complete silence. No staff member realized this was a problem. Would never recommend this company. They will blindside you when your loved one is acutely ill to discuss costs and administration under the guise of “care team”compassion. The use of intimidation and bullying highlights their lack of empathy for family members during a difficult time.

My parents are at The Tradition-Buffalo Speedway. It is very, very nice. I don't really have anything to compare them to, but I think they could be better. Some of the caregivers are kind of lazy, but I don't know how that compares to other facilities. Maybe we were just expecting too much. The room is fine. I think right now because of the pandemic everyone is limited, but my parents were not really interested in any of their activities. There's two of them and they keep each other company, so they don't particularly want to go socialize. The food is good, they enjoy it. They have wonderful amenities like a very nice sitting area, like parlors that people can utilize. It was built last year so it is still fairly vacant. It is always beautifully maintained, completely lit, and temperature is controlled just right. They clean it every day and it spotless. They have a sitting area, a dining room, and it is all beautifully maintained. It is dusted and vacuumed every day. They don't really use the courtyard, but I can see it is nice. From their room they could see the fountain in the courtyard. They have a physical therapy room that my mom uses. She has a physical therapist that comes in three times a week. During this pandemic I think I am not allowed to walk into the physical therapy room, but my mom says there are bicycles and different machines in there that they use. It is really convenient that there is a physical therapy right there for her, and she did not have to go to a different place to do it. They have a very nice dining room area, but right now my parents like to have their meals brought to them in their room. Because of the pandemic they are doing that without charging extra for the meal delivery. When the pandemic is over it would be good for them to eat in the dining room. It is beautiful and I think they will enjoy the meals even more if they eat it in the dining room, when it is really, really hot. You know by the time they bring it up to their room it is not as hot, but they still like it just fine. It is really a wonderful place, and my parents love the facility.
