I like Apex Oaks. Their people are excellent and just professional. It's small and cozy. My wife moved to the memory care. When we first went out there, she had a bare room, so you have to supply your own furniture, so we went, bought furniture, and decorated her room. The food is actually good. It's not institutional food like you usually get at other places. The dining room feels homey. It's a great place.

Apex Oaks at Clear Lake is a memory care community only. It's a smaller complex and it's new. So, those were the things that led us to think that this place might be the right one. It has two big cottages. Some of the things they provide for the folks were impressive. They seemed like a closer type of community feeling. The staff was all very, very nice and very informative. All the people we met were very open and friendly. The facility was very well kept. It's just very nicely done. It's got some nice outside areas for the folks to be able to go outside, too.

I highly recommend Apex Oaks. It is awesome. Mom is just getting extremely good care. They're constantly checking on her and helping her (as she needs a lot of help). The place is clean. It's beautiful and they do a lot of activities with the memory care residents. They do some painting and gardening. They also take them out and let them plant flowers. She has a bird feeder outside her window and she just does all kinds of things to keep herself active. The nursing staff and everyone there is just wonderful. She likes all of them. The food's good, too. They have a nice big outdoor area. So, when the weather's nice, they can go out there and sit. That's where they have little planter boxes to plant flowers. On Friday, one of the ladies sent me pictures of my mom out there planting flowers. Her room only has one room, but it's got a nice-sized bathroom and she's happy with it. Every time I talk to her, she tells me how happy she is to be there. So, our experience has been great.
