Emeritus at Henderson used to be Kingsley Place. My wife was there for a year, I was there at 2 different times – 6 months and 3 months. This is a one story building. The environment and the dining area was good. They had a good chef. She managed the whole thing and she was really sweet to me. If I have a complaint, she’d come out and talk to me about it. They had bingo, memory games, exercise and all other things. My wife had Alzheimer’s so I put her here. I was in one part and she was in the other part. They kept an eye on her, they called me anytime and I was there in minutes to see her. She couldn’t get out if I’m not with her. It worked out well. The staff was wonderful. They didn’t really care for her as they should. I had to change her pants and bathe her. I did a lot of things they should have done that’s why I left after a year. Then, they started to give her a bath every day, they take very good care of her until she died.

The Memory care program at Brookdale is superb. Most places you go people are just in their rooms all the time doing nothing. But, every single person was out in the living area or dining area doing an activity. They were all smiling and dressed and clean and the community smelled wonderful! The rooms were spacious and felt like home. Each resident has their own room decorated with their own furniture. They were about to have lunch and they all sat in the dining room and it looked wonderful. After lunch, they were going on a scenic ride to look at historic homes. The director told me at Christmas they go see lights and will be in the parade!

Brookdale Henderson was an older community, but it was very clean, and very open. The staff there was probably the most helpful that I have met. The dining area was very clean and very nice. They have a physical therapy room and a small exercise room. The director went out of her way to help me with whatever I needed. The outside center court area was very nice, very well put together, and very pet friendly. It seems like a really good place for those who want to go outside.

I know Emeritus is top of the line. The tour was great. They don't have the type of security with some long-term care, like skilled nursing. The staff is very professional. Just a great facility. Just high class.
