My husband is in rehab at Retama Manor Nursing Center/Harlingen. He recovered there twice from bouts with pneumonia after we chose it. They have just been outstanding with the rehab department. The nursing staff members are really quick to answer. They'll do anything to make you happy. If you don't like the meal, they'll go back and bring another meal. So, we've had a wonderful experience. He's in a double room, but he's been by himself the whole time that he's been there. They are really careful and try to keep them by themselves, because they kind of prefer privacy. It's a large room that has two beds, two TVs, a closet, a dresser, and double bed tables. They do have activities, but my husband is not one to participate. I know they have bingo, movies on their big TV screen, and tables for them to play cards or do whatever they want to do. Most of their food is good. The layout is spread out in every direction. It kind of gives you less noise. It's pretty quiet. It's not high, but it's way out of our pocket range.

My husband was in Retama Manor Nursing Center/Harlingen over a year ago for rehab. It was OK. The staff was helpful, and from what I saw, the food was mediocre. It was clean, but at times there was still that nursing home odor. It was a fairly large place, and the wing he was in was more for rehab, so the people weren't there that long. They also had a regular nursing home wing. The grounds were pretty, and both the outside and inside areas were very well kept. Maintenance staff were working and painting here and there. In the room where my husband was, there were a couple of dents in the wall, and they came in and fixed them while he was there, so the maintenance staff seemed to be pretty good. It's on the pricey side and Medicare paid for it, but I ended up paying for a couple of days, which did not make me happy.

I was admitted to this facility for rehabilitation after I fell and injured my back. I am doing much better after receiving therapy for 10 consecutive days, therapists were very helpful and got me back to walking and am now able to get in and out of bed on my own. I highly recommend their rehabilitation services. The room was clean and maintained clean throughout my stay. Nurses were professional and responded quickly when assistance was needed. I even liked the food! All staff were very friendly, courteous and efficient. The room I was assigned has a nice tv, cable, landline and a great lift recliner.

Today is my brother's birthday! I called to wish him a happy birthday. Last year I called also on his birthday. His nurse Norma has been so kind on taking my brother the cordless phone to him. My brother had a stroke and does not speak and is paralyzed. I know that the nurses and staff are busy and sometimes understaffed. May God Bless Norma and the entire staff! Thank you Norma for taking the time to let me sing to my brother! I wish I lived closer!

While visiting the Retama Manor Nursing Center I noticed that all the nurses were working hard to satisfy the needs of their patients. They do their best to keep their patients busy while they try to tend to every need that each individuals may have. Sometimes I think that the nurses may be too over whelmed that they forget who they are working for, but in this facility the staff really care for their patients. They are very knowledgeable and humble and I am glad that they are the ones treating the loved ones of our community. I am very grateful that they are so helpful when we go and visit and assist us if we need anything. The facility is very clean and there is quite a bit of space that it is not overcrowded and there is room for all of the residents. The building itself is very luxurious and it well deserved for the patients that reside there.
