I'm very pleased with Oxford Glen at Grand Prairie. The care is excellent. It's a very good facility. The staff is excellent. My husband seems to enjoy the food. They have chair exercises, bowling, and games. They keep them pretty busy, and they try to get them to participate. It costs a little more, but it's worth it.

The lady who gave us the tour around Oxford Glen at Grand Prairie was very personable. She was very helpful in trying to find out everything about my aunt. The place was impeccable. Being that it is only memory care, I understand that it's going to be more expensive, but I think they have a better care system and they have many more activities. Their main objective is to keep the residents out of their rooms, to be out amongst each other, and have that socialization. They have crafts, they do bubbles, puzzles, exercises, dances, and all kinds of different activities. I also think the ratio of the staff to residents is probably better. Everything smelled good. It was a nice, clean environment.

The tour was nice, but we didn't like Oxford Glen at Grand Prairie because the residents had to share a room. You have to have a screen to separate the two people. The staff member was friendly and helpful. The dining room was huge and that's where they do a lot of their activities. They have a nice patio area. The residents seemed happy interacting with each other. It was all-inclusive. It was clean.

I've got a friend whose parents live at Oxford Glen at Grand Prairie, and she very highly recommends it. I would give it a 5 based on her recommendation and based on my own evaluations when I visited there. The people were caring for the residents. It was a lovely facility with views out the window. They had a garden area for the residents to actually be able to garden on their own. I know there can't be a person for every resident, but each and every person there was involved with the residents during the visit, and I have stopped by at two or three different times of day because I wanted a true evaluation of all of these facilities. If I could, I would have put my mother there. I highly recommend it. The only thing they needed to improve on is when I walked in the front door, there was not somebody there to greet me, but I sat there and waited a few minutes and every person that I saw was with residents, and to me that's not negative. That is a positive because they care so much for the residents that they tend to neglect the front area.

My mom was in Oxford Glen. Their staff was really good, and they're very caring, but she wasn't encouraged to be independent a lot, and she kept going downhill. It's a very quiet nursing-home type environment. There wasn't much stimulation for her there.

Oxford Glen looked nice and very clean but was more expensive than the others. I think the rooms were nice and looked very comfortable, and the staff was professional. I think the only thing they needed to improve on was the price.
