I have been to ECC twice for rehab and will gladly go back if I ever need to. They have best care and a lot of activities. I recommend this place to anyone for a short time or to live. Therapy was as fun as therapy can be and I made a lot of friends while I was there. Ask about their cats, they are so sweet.

I have had the best experience with Ennis Care Center. My mother needed rehab from her hip surgery. The staff are so caring, they were very attentive and gave the best care I've experienced. She was very hesitant and can be hard to motivate, but the therapy staff could get her to do things I never could. It only took two weeks to get her back to where she was before her fall. I'd recommend this place to anyone who needs therapy.

My uncle is here and has been in several nursing homes before this, and this is without a doubt the best of them all. The staff here truly care about him AND us. He's a veteran (and VERY proud of it), and they have a large veteran population that made him feel welcome and his transition easier, and they even have a direct relationship with the local VA and can accept his VA benefits, which has sadly been very difficult to find.

I feel great comfort knowing my mom is in good hands. They have the best staff that truly care about the people they are taking care of. The Administrator and Director of Nursing are wonderful, and the Director of Nursing has been there over 20 years. The Chef and food have always been excellent, and I always choose to eat there when I visit my mom. They always have a wide range of activity and recreational therapy programs that mom loves. They even have the animal shelter bring puppies for the residents to bottle feed and they have robotic cats and dogs used for therapy. She LOVES this. I would recommend Ennis Care Center to anyone looking for care for their loved one.

My mom is a resident here. When we were looking at different nursing homes in the area we had heard that the Ennis Care Center was the only 5 star facility for over 6 years in Ellis county. I would agree they earned all five stars but what really matters most to me is that my mom always seems to be smiling now. The staff have really taken the time to get to know her, and that shows in the activities she gets to enjoy that seem to be designed just for her. The food is always good, the facility is clean and inviting, and the staff say hi to me by name. They've welcomed my family, never asking us to leave, they even said I could visit as much as I want with my mom's beloved yorkie. What was really neat is when she sundowns or is having a rough moment, they not only take the time to sit with her in the calming sensory room, but she is given a robotic cat to help soothe her. It truly is a special place, we are so appreciative.

After a fall, my father was permanently brain damaged. It was incredibly hard on my family as 1) he was so smart and active and independent, but 2) he was taking care of my mother who has Alzheimer's. Our world was really upside down. But things got worse because no one was helping us figure out what to do about our father/how to afford for his care/how to move forward AND he was belligerent. Ennis Care Center (and Debbie [admissions] and Sharon {head nurse]) talked us through the process and accepted our father. It was NOT easy -- he gave everyone a run for their money but Ennis Care hung with him. We have since moved him only for geographical reasons for our mother but we are so grateful to the staff, their devotion, the way they called him "Colonel" (he is retired military) and helped us transition into a new life. We cannot thank ECC enough. Don't be put off by the older building (I think I read or heard somewhere that it is the oldest building in Ennis or Ellis) because the people more than make up for it. And lastly, we have learned from looking at other facilities that Ennis makes sure all their staff rotate and learn all the names of all their people who they care for. This makes a big difference as they get to know their people AS PEOPLE.

My mother in law was sent to this "care center" for physical therapy after spending quite some time in the hospital battling liver cancer. She was placed in a room that required she share a bathroom with another tenant. The showers were at the other end of the "facility". She was required to be on a no/ low sodium diet, yet the staff fed her bacon, eggs topped with cheese, and so many other items loaded with sodium, that she filled up with fluid and busted old, healed sutures. This was done AFTER we agreed on a no sodium diet with the staff. After we showed nurses how to tend to her dressing needs, the nurses walked away and stated to someone else that they would just "Youtube" it to figure it out. The mattress on the bed was 1/4" thick. The place is completely lacking in care, fallin apart. After only 2 days in this place, my mother in law's health had regressed by an entire week or two. Would NOT recommend this "care facility".

I visited a friend at Ennis Care Center 2 years ago, and I was not impressed because it didn’t smell good. The only thing I have to say about this place, when I went to visit, it looked fine, everything was OK, but there was a distinct smell. My friend didn’t say anything bad about the place, nothing. She was all right there. Her room was OK. They even offered her to bring her own furniture if she wanted to.
