I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

The staff does a really good job. The kitchens does great and the overall view of the nursing home is great in my eyes. Very caring and compassionate employees. I know the residents really enjoy Bingo and are very attached to staff members

This little facility is a hidden treasure!!! The staff seem to really care about the ppl who live there. The therapy staff were great too. My dad enjoyed getting to get stronger in therapy and then continued to visit the rehab dept to encourage others. Truly a family environment. My dad remains there and welcomes new residents to help them enjoy their stay.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My dad had to go to Elkhart in June and stayed there for four months. It looked like a place where people were left to die. People were just lying in the hallway and didn’t seem to have people coming to visit. The staff though were helpful and friendly with me and my dad. They always went out their way to call me and let me know if something happened and they had taken him to the hospital. Dad had a private room. It was pretty spacious with one bed, a TV, a bathroom, a closet and dresser. I was happy because his sugar levels balanced out. He’s getting more healthy food there. They don’t really have any activities except for TV out in the main lobby. They would take them to the store sometimes but I didn’t see people coming together for an activity or special event.

I visited this facility

I visited this facility for my mother and it was nasty. Call lights going off and workers walking by and not even bothering to answer them. The staff was rude and when asked questions they said "I don't know" and walked off. When i walked into the place it smelled like pee, BADLY. I talked to some people who lived around this place and they said not to take my family here that they abuse the residents. That was from the neighbors. I wouldn't take my mom there.

I visited this facility

The place was very home-y and cozy. It was quiet and smelled like gingerbread, though I'm not really sure why. There were some residents watching TV (one of them was on a wheel-y bed) that seemed to be enjoying themselves. The staff was pretty helpful and seemed to be considerate towards the residents. They were also very friendly. The tour of the place was interesting; it wasn't that large of a place but they made do with what they had. They had a nice kitchen and the living room was always occupied. The quality of the place was overall pretty high but there always seemed to be a mess somewhere. It looked like the janitors were a bit overworked. The overall health of the residents seemed to be okay. They always looked content or happy. Overall I think I would recommend the place to people living around that area, but it's not so great of a place that you should go out of your way to stay there.

MY MOTHER WAS MOLESTED

My mother(an alzheimers victim) was sexually molested by a man who was also a patient. After being caught by an aid, who reported it to supervisors. Only to be told ' DO NOT TELL THE FAMILY', fearing the old mans' life would be in danger, they quickly sent him to the mental hospital and then discharged him. SO IF YOU WANT YOUR MOTHER TO BE TOUCHED AGAINST HER WILL SEND HER TO 'ELKHART OAKS CARE CENTER' AND IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE KEPT IN THE DARK ABOUT A MAJOR INCIDENT INTRUST TERESSA DEFORE I think she is the DON or the Administrator.....doesn't really matter to me I KNOW WHAT SHE IS
