My mother is a resident of Carriage House Assisted Living. It's clean and the people are nice. They have a nurse that comes once a month, a nurse practitioner. They take care of the medicine, give them the medicines daily, give her frequent reminders and stuff like that, that she needs. Their food is good there, I eat lunch with my mom every Sunday or so. The staff is polite and nice. There's a couple that was kind of grumpy, but I can understand. Sometimes with dementia and stuff like that, it's hard. The facility is all nice and well-taken care of. They're always clean. It's a nice, big, room and kitchen. It's got the little kitchenette thing and refrigerator. its a large room for her, she's by herself. They have activities, several things throughout the day. I haven't been to them, but my mom goes, and she enjoys doing some of them. It's kind of expensive for what I am paying for. It's $3600 a month there, and I know someplace is higher than that. If you need mental care, it's higher; she has dementia. They do not have memory care. They just give her frequent reminders and she's done well so far. She is forgetting stuff.

About Carriage House Assisted Living in Denton, Texas
Prior to the development of assisted living communities, older adults had limited choices of where to live when their abilities became less than 100%. Many older adults that simply needed assistance with cooking and meals ended up moving into the medical environment to provide the simple assistance with daily life. Residents found themselves paying for many of the medical services found in skilled nursing homes that they did not need. Unlike a skilled nursing facility, the Carriage House Assisted Living is like living in your own home, yet residents enjoy the security of knowing that the staff is there for them 24 hours a day if needed. The service packages of the Carriage House are designed to meet the individuals needs of the resident without charging for services that are not needed or wanted. Our residents' personal safety is one of our main concerns. Residents can rest peacefully knowing that a 24 hour staff is available seven days a week. Emergency response systems are installed in each apartment as well as smoke and heat alarms. Daily monitoring of residents is included in basic services, and individual monitoring throughout the night may be arranged. To learn more about this provider's license and review other available state reports, please visit: Texas Long-Term Care Provider Search

My love one really likes the Carriage House . The staff is so friendly and good to him. They are always checking on him making sure he is doing fine. The place does not smell and it is very clean. That was one of the reasons I choose this place. They have lots of activities for the residents. They do his laundry and give him his meds. I recommend this place to everybody. If they had a wheel chair van to take the residents to doctors appointments it would be pretty close to the perfect place.

I didnt like the atmosphere at Carriage House. The staff wasn't very friendly. The food was alright, but the dining room was very crowded. The rooms were very small. They had activities and they go to casinos and grocery stores. Their staff members need to be more friendly and they need to make more room for wheelchairs in the dining room.

Carriage House is a nice place and my mom likes it there. It's very quaint. She's been there for about a month and a half. The staff is very helpful and they recommended a doctor close by for her. Anytime I had a question, they were all over it. Mom seems to like the food. The place is very clean and they just upgraded. When I moved her in, they repainted everything and put in new flooring throughout.

Carriage House is gloomy. I didn't find it welcoming, and it was a small population. I didn't feel welcome, and I didn't feel as though I would fit in. It had a dim gloom sort of an atmosphere. It wasn't a place where I would want to live. I thought it was maybe some place that some people would go who didn't have a choice. Another thing was they said I was going to have lunch with the residents, but all of them already had lunch, and I ate with just the lady giving me the tour. I think they prepared a special lunch as opposed to what the residents may have eaten, so that in itself was not impressive to me.

Carriage House Assisted Living was kind of run-down being an older facility. The staff was pretty pleasant and nice. The room we went in had a broken skylight, and there was some water damage. They were doing a little repair while I was there.

I visited Carriage House twice, and it was good, but expensive. My husband would have a private room and a private bath there, which he would like.

My loved one lives here. I appreciate the staff that care for my mother. They truly care and have taken the time to get to know her needs. The management takes the time to listen to my concerns and the nurse helps out in any way she can to assure mom is well taken care of. The food is made from scratch and my mom really enjoys the soups that are made everyday. The menu gives a wide variety to eat and there is always something she enjoys. We also enjoy the activities. There is always something for mom to do and they keep her busy.

We're OK with Carriage House. It's very good. They have a good cafeteria, good meal arrangements, good housekeeping services, good nurse attendant services for prescriptions. They're independent rooms. They're 1-bedroom rooms. It has medication assistance. They had daily activities like bingo, music, ice cream socials. It's just like ordinary food. It's a meal prepared and brought to you.

I have been here for 1 year. I like that I have privacy. it's quite. I've made lots of friends with residents, and the ladies working here are wonderful.

They are not equipped to handle patients with later stages of dementia, or to even recognize behavior associated with dementia. My mother died weeks after her admission.

We were extremely pleased by the appearance of the facility. It is important for us to make sure that my grandmother still has some independence, but also gets the assistance that she needs with cooking and cleaning and also having medical help just a moment's notice away. Even being in the same town it would take me over fifteen minutes to make it her, and that is not an option any longer. The facility itself looks more like a home than an assisted living facility, with beautiful columns out front. The rooms were spacious and quite private, with a small kitchenette, living room and bedroom, although studio apartments were also available. Pets are also allowed, which is important to my grandmother as she has a ten year old cat who she loves like a baby. What really impressed us however were the services such as the in-house beauty salon and library area. The staff was not only warm and welcoming but extremely helpful and knowledgeable. The rates were quite competitive and I think this is going to be Gran's new home.
