I moved my wife into the Memory Care Unit ((MCU) of Homestead of Denison 4 weeks ago after doing as much research as possible on several other facilities in the area. I was very happy to find out that the MCU is a women's only unit which is rare. I found their Admissions Director (AD) as well as their Financial Director (FD) more cooperative than most of the other facilities that I dealt with. The AD was willing to meet with me in their lobby when other facilities wouldn't even let me in the building (because of Covid-19). Watching their virtual tour on Youtube certainly helped as I wasn't able to tour in person. It certainly helped with the FD that I was working with a Elder Care Lawyer too. After a 10 day period of not seeing my wife as suggested by the staff, I finally got to see the facility first hand and meet the rest of the staff. I'm very pleased with the staff as I have gotten to know them quite well as they accepted my wife as part of their family and she tells them all how much she loves them. We did have a bit of an issue with diet as my wife needs to be dairy free and gluten free. Those issues were straightened out in a timely manner and has been good ever since. I visit my wife daily and several times have been at meal time. I've tasted most meals and they have been pretty good. It took them a couple of moves to get my wife with the right roommate, but I'm pleased that they took the time to see that that she was as comfortable as she could be with her roommate. I would like to see more activities in this area as she seems to be bored at times. Overall, I'm very pleased with with my choice of The Homestead of Denison. If the future changes I definitely WILL be back to write another review.

Please do not take your loved one here. They took horrible care of my grandmother. They didn't feed her, they didn't keep her clean, they lost her clothes and let her sit in her dirty underclothes and rags. They lost her glasses, they lost her teeth. They let her fall 12 times in the last few months and didn't report correctly. Please, PLEASE find another place.

My friend was in this facility for 11 weeks. She was sent home because insurance would not approve because they didn’t receive the paperwork from the facility. I asked when we left if she was able to stand and walk with her walker. I was told yes. I get her home and she cannot take one step by herself. Pretty much an invalid. Told me she had therapy one hour a day and the rest of the time in the bed. She was there 11 weeks, and you sent her home without any help? How dare you. I don’t see how you sleep at night

The Homestead Of Denison is very clean, well-kept, homey, comfortable, and warm. The environment is very nice, and my mother likes it. The staff is very attentive and friendly, and it has a very family-oriented feel. She plays games, goes to church, sings, works in the garden, and helps in the library. She's a little social butterfly now. We're very pleased with the place, plus my mother said that the food is like Grandma's cooking. The place is laid out great and has easy access to everything.

I liked Homestead, and I thought it was clean. I had a friend who had her mother there, but they didn’t have an open bed for mother when I went to put mother there. The people were nice, and the caregiver seemed to be appropriate. It didn’t smell, the food looked good, they had good therapy, and activities. My friends’ mother was happy there.

My mom got there at The Homestead of Denison yesterday afternoon. Before, I had an aunt who was over there. She liked it there. It is a really nice place. It is really up-to-date. It is not an older facility. It has a bigger room and also a big dayroom that is really bright. The nurse's station is right there in the dayroom too, which I like the best. It is a good place. My mom's room is a whole lot bigger, and her bathroom is bigger. There are two beds in the room, and each patient has their own nightstand. There is also another table that is built in on one side of my mother's bed. It is a lot nicer and a lot bigger than the other place.

The Homestead of Denison Texas is definitely a home away from home. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, from the lobby where there are tranquil fountains to the deluxe suites. The staff are top rate and very compassionate, you can tell they love what they do.The food is great , and prepared by professional chefs. There is always some kind of activity going on to keep the residents entertained. One drawback I noticed is the layout. It is like a huge maze and can be very hard to find your way around, especially since there isn't very much of a room directory.Overall, this is a great facility and your loved one will be well taken care of. They will be pampered with a spa, salon, and great meals as well as lots of interaction. There are seven courtyards complete with waterfalls and walk through gardens that are sure to please anyone.

The staff was quite pleasant and fairly quick to attend to my Grandmother's needs. She stayed there after she broke her leg to have round-the-clock care and to do physical therapy and ended up staying there for six months. They had pianos in the facility and fish tanks. The decor was nice and well-maintained. At times the food was less than desirable, however, you could order special menu items for the patient, or the family could eat with the patient for a nominal fee. She excelled at her therapy there and liked the nurses and therapists quite a bit. They brought her medications rapidly and came in to check on her several times throughout the day in addition to coming when they were called. The carpeting in the facility wasn't very comfortable, but the color was comforting enough. Several of the nurse aides were very strong and able to lift large patients. There was even a male nurse there who was young, friendly and helpful. The facility even allowed patients pets to come in and visit the patients, which was beneficial for patients to be able to see their pets. They had a coded entry system to get in the facility (in the back doors) so anyone off the streets couldn't just walk in and patients with memory issues couldn't easily just leave. The facility was close to the former hospital, which was nice while it was there. My Grandma was quite happy with her stay and the team members were helpful in making her transition over to this facility easy. They also had scheduled activities for everyday and a bus to transport patients to appointment, shopping and various places.
