Sunrise Hillcrest is a pretty new place. It's been updated and the people are super friendly and very helpful. We've just been in the facility two or three times briefly because of COVID. But the thing that we were most interested in was having physical activity for my mother-in-law to continue rehab. We've reserved a one-bedroom for her and it's spacious. The facilities that we looked at were not the largest, but they were certainly the most updated and functional. It's exactly what she needs. We were impressed with the fact that a lot of the staff had been there a number of years, so we took that as a good indicator that they like the facility themselves.

I chose Sunrise of Hillcrest because of the longevity of the staff and the attractive gardens and flowers that the residents have access to. So those were two important things. It's a very pretty place. It's pleasant. The staff, a lot of them have been there for 10, 15 years, so it leaves the impression of a stable environment. Her apartment has one bedroom and one bathroom on the first floor. We had lunch there with my aunt, and the food was very good. They had a nice variety of choices on the menu from which to choose. It was very good. I saw a library, kind of a video room, and a separate eating room that you can reserve for families if you want to have a special event in the facility there. There was a little bistro deli kind of thing where you could get coffee.

We really like Sunrise of Hillcrest because it was a little bit more intimate. It's only 50 units. I felt like my loved one would have an opportunity to be better looked at or cared for. I felt like it would meet our needs better. Everything was super clean. It was very bright. There's a lot of sunlight in there. The staff was super nice. We spent more time with the gentleman going over the things that they offer there than we did at the other place. They had a nice outside patio. It was very bright there, too. They had several common areas where you could go and visit with the residents, so I liked that too. We're going to take my dad back to see them next week.

Everything was fine at Sunrise of Hillcrest. The location was right next to a busy freeway, but I don't think it affected the residents. They stay there on the grounds, and they don't go out near the freeway. You can't really hear it, but I think it bothered my husband, so he just didn't care for it. The rooms were fine. They're not as big as independent living. They were smaller, but they were still nice-sized, very clean, and bright. For amenities, there are arts and crafts and there are lounge areas. They have a resident dog. It's a large dog and he kind of walks around all day and visits the people in the lobby. He goes up into the hallways and will go into the rooms if you call him in there, and they pet him. I think that's very nice. It's nice to have a pet on the premises. Everything was fine except for the location.

We will be moving into Sunrise of Hillcrest. We chose it because it has the level of care that we will need going forward. My husband has ALS and Alzheimer's, so we expect that our care needs will grow. From what I observed, Sunrise is very warm and welcoming. It was clean. All the residents were walking around happy and engaged. One reason we chose it is our home that we're leaving backs up to a creek and this backs up to a creek. Also, they have a dog that is a part of the community and we love dogs. It just felt like home when we walked in the door. The dining area was very cozy and I saw some menus, and they looked really good. I like that there's a variety. We'll be able to eat whatever we want and both enjoy it. The staff is very friendly and very knowledgeable. Austin, who has worked with me, has gone above and beyond in helping me with this decision and what we need to do.

I liked the size of Sunrise of Hillcrest. It was very bright and cheerful. I thought the people that worked there were great. Unfortunately, they were full and they didn't have any openings coming up. I watched it being built and I didn't realize they'd been there 17 to 20 years. It's been there a while, but it's a lovely facility and they have memory care on the upper floor. You can escalate your care as you need it, and I liked that. They had other levels they could add on depending on how much more you need it. The people that I met were great. They offer a lot of activities for people.

I toured Sunrise of Hillcrest, and it was a very positive experience. Right at the moment, I would probably pick that one if I were picking one for today. It's pretty both inside and out. Very comfortable. I like the size of it. It's not a huge place, it's just small, and the price seems right. I think I liked everything about it. The apartment is smaller than I'm used to, but I expected that. I think I could become very comfortable in the spaces provided there. It was Christie who gave me the tour, and she did an excellent job. She answered all my questions. She's a charming lady. We looked at the dining area, and it looked pleasant and attractive. The community certainly looked clean.

Sunrise of Hillcrest was very good. The woman who gave me the tour was very informative and I got a lot of good information. It was time well spent. I learned a lot. I like that it's smaller and it's close to where I live, so it will be convenient. The cleanliness was very good. I only saw a studio and it was nice, bright, light, and well appointed. It was a very nice facility. In assisted living they have medication management, laundry once a week, housekeeping once a week, and they have a lot of activities available to the residents. The staff was really friendly. They have a nurse onsite 24 hours a day, so that's good. It's a nice location. There's room to go outside and it's very pleasant.

The Sunrise of Hillcrest was beautiful. The tour was wonderful. It was also a very nice place. They played card games, they had puzzles out, and they had a workout room. They had a courtyard and they offered a beauty salon. They offered all that. I saw a menu and it looked wonderful.

My mom will be moving into Sunrise of Hillcrest. I like their focus on Alzheimer's and dementia, and the fact that they had more caregivers or attendants per resident. They seemed like they had a better organized set up. They were very professional, they answered all the questions, and they had good plans for what they were going to do with my mother. The place was in good shape, from the walls to the carpets, and all that kind of stuff. What I liked about them was that the showers for the residents were in the room. The shower had a very low rubberized type of threshold that was going to be easy to get my mother's wheelchair across it. I talked to the lady who heads up the activities. They have a very wide range of activities, and I could see there were a few of them that my mom would probably benefit from. For the dining area, they have a kitchen where people were preparing the food, and then they carried the food out to the resident sitting at their tables. The place is about four minutes from our house.

Sunrise of Hillcrest was the first one to actually respond to my request for a tour, so they allowed me to come in. It was a beautiful place. The staff did very well. They were very responsive. It had a beautiful drive-up appeal, was on beautiful grounds, and it was furnished very nicely, too. One of my biggest concerns is how well a place is kept and the property was very well maintained. Also, it's probably 15 minutes distance from me.

I actually visited Sunrise of Hillcrest and saw their memory care. I just didn't have a good feeling about it, so I just let it go. There's nothing wrong, there's nothing I saw that was wrong, it's just the wrong feel for my mother. There was a little bit of a creepy feel for me. Also, this was a couple of years ago, my mom was in better condition then. I was just trying to prepare myself, and I guess part of what was difficult, which might happen anywhere, is seeing almost everybody so out of it. They were fairly far along with their dementia, so it was a depressing experience for me. I can't tell you that all of that was due to the place itself. The common area was fine, there were several people out watching television, and another group activity was about to happen. Some people were moving on to the next thing. It was fine, it was clean, and the people who worked there seemed friendly.

Sunrise of Hillcrest looked amazing, but it was out of our price range. The gentleman there was really knowledgeable and very helpful. I'd give him a five. We liked that the residents could have large or small pets. They just have a lot of cool little things. The place was beautiful. When giving medication, they make sure to take the resident to a private room if they happen to be in a public room or in the dining room, so they're really great about dignity for the elderly. The rooms were nice, spacious, and clean. They have happy hour and exercise activities. The dining area was quite spacious. The place seems very dignified and I didn't see any sad patients. Overall, they just seem to have good care over their patients and they make sure to give them the best quality of life possible.

Sunrise of Hillcrest was very nice with excellent facilities, but they had very limited parking. The staff was very courteous. They had two dogs that residents could pet, and they love having that dog right next to them. I liked the apartments and there was a little window that looked out into the hallway. There were also windows looking out to the street and trees and they had a little brook that ran behind the place. The window gave me the impression like you're at the front of your house and you could look out and see who's coming up to your door. Their chef explained that if somebody wanted something that's not on the menu for that day, they have stuff they can make for them. They had three meals a day. If you wanted bacon and eggs, they could make it for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They had an excellent layout.

My mom has been in Sunrise of Hillcrest for close to a year now. I go and I ask her every time if she is happy, and she says, “Yes.” I have thought that I might want to move her, but she tells me she is happy and, as long as she is happy, this is where she is going to stay. She is very comfortable there. I don’t have any problem with anything, except their managemen; I am less than thrilled with their continuous changing of management staff. They have cooking classes, exercise classes, games, festivals, and bingo. They have decent food, and my mother does not have a problem with it. They were recommended to me when I was looking for a place for my mom, and I personally visited eight places in the Dallas area and suburbs and called five. For the money, the treatment, the care, the meds that are taken care of on a daily basis, and the doctors’ care, including having her leg x-rayed, I don’t have any problem with these people.

We would like to express how thankful we are to the staff at this facility. We are extremely satisfied with all of the staff members that have been so helpful during this difficult point in our family members life. Upon initially inquiring about this facility, we were amazed at how compassionate and friendly all of the people we met. This was very comforting to us truly made us feel like we had found a home for our family member. The facility was clean, warm and did not have an institutional feel. It truly made us feel as we were home. This was not the case with some of the facilities we visited in this area. Getting the chance to speak with the director and being able hear her passion for seniors, hear about her almost 8 years with the company was truly amazing. We want to thank all of the staff members at this facility for making us feel so welcomed during this troubling time. Our loved one is thriving and we now have piece of mind knowing our family member is well cared for and loved by the staff at Sunrise. Thank you so much!

I visited this facility with a good friends who's family member lives her. It was really well maintained, and was really clean. Patrick is the house dog that greeted us upon arriving and this was very special for us. The staff were really friends and genuinely cares for the residents that live in this community. We thoroughly enjoyed the meal we had and was really surprised at all the menu options that are available to the residents that live at the community. I had the opportunity to interact with the Executive Director and she was extremly personably and I was impressed with long she has worked for the company and her expertise in dealing with residents with memory impairments. I would highly recommend this community to anyone looking for an assisted living facility for a loved one

Sunrise of Hillcrest is nice. I like the people there but the main objection I have is that there isn't a kitchen area. Their price was out of reach, starting at $3,600. I did like the fact that the backyard was designed with foliage. It was nice and looks country. I liked the outside. The facility was clean and well maintained. The rooms weren’t what we want. The dining room was pretty nice.

My impression was that Sunrise of Hillcrest was beautiful, and the people seem very caring. The rooms and apartments were very nice. Dad is in the memory care, and I am specifically talking about the memory care. The room is very clean, homey, and comfortable. The staff seems very friendly, caring, connected, and willing to help. I have eaten there, and the food was extremely good. The dining room was lovely. In the memory care, it is a little bit formal, but it is still beautiful with a gorgeous view of trees, it's very clean, and I am very impressed with the kitchen and dining area were not cut off from each other, so the residents can go into the kitchen and interact with staff. They have memory games, they have beautiful grounds there, and they take some outdoors on walks. It is seemed extremely safe and secure. They are going to buzz if they are going to exit. They have beautiful nature view really impressed me, they have a garden room that they can sit in, and they can do some gardening.

I was the primary caregiver for my Mom (she just passed) - we moved her to Sunrise in December 2012 from an assisted living center in Plano. The Plano center said my Mom required too much care. My Mom thrived at Sunrise. Sunrise at Hillcrest is bright, cheery and has never had that "assisted living smell". Patrick, the facility dog, is a fantastic part of the place - he follows my wife around whenever she visits. In her last month, June 2015, while my Mom was on hospice, I spent 16 hours a day at Sunrise of Hillcrest. That gave me the opportunity to really know and understand the staff there on all three shifts. First, the head nurse may be one of the best health care professionals I have ever known. Also, the aides and med techs taking care of my Mom were simply incredible. They perform unpleasant duties with love, care and concern and I was truly amazed to find that was consistently true on even weekends and nights. I looked at eight facilities in finding a place for my Mom after she was asked to leave the facility in Plano. I always thought that my choice of Sunrise was an excellent place for my Mom but my experience being there at the facility during my Mom's last month showed me how amazing Sunrise of Hillcrest really is - my Mom's last years were much better because of the staff at Hillcrest.

I have a relative living here currently. Horrible. I feel so bad for the residents that don't have someone always checking. The help is so lazy and SLOW. They never respond in a timely manner to the calls. This place is not inexpensive so the help should be more qualified. The head nurse is their saving grace - she truly cares but is only one woman. I would like my relative to move. New Year - new beginnings. Keep looking if considering this place. They reel you in and then forget it!!

At Sunrise of Hillcrest, the place was clean, neat and pretty. It's well located. However, there wasn't much activities going on there. We like to do things like play games, do handiwork or visit people, I'm sure there were activities at Sunrise and maybe it's just the time we visited, but the place was unappealing and the staff were unremarkable.

I moved my mother to S at H from another fancy facility but has received MUCH BETTER CARE at Sunrise! Management is kind, caring & available 7 days a week. The staff are kind, friendly & caring. My mother is very active & Sunrise has great parties & celebrates everything possible. The food has improved w healthier options, my mother & her apartment are Lways clean. The firsts AL I picked had a huge walk in closet & big apartment but I've learned the quality if care & activities are WAY MORE IMPORTANT than the room amenities....mom is never in her room except to sleep!!!!

I visited this facility because my grandmother has recently relocated there from New Smyrna Beach, Florida. She seems quite happy there and enjoys the company of the other residents. I ate a couple of meals there with her and was surprised to find that the food was comforting and tasty. I decided after visiting Sunrise that I wouldn't mind going there when I am no longer able to care for myself. I like it for my grandma because she is able to maintain a sense of independence in her own room but has all the help and amenities there that she could possibly need. My only complaints are aesthetic- the decor inside is in serious need of an update. The location is convenient, and the rest of my Dallas family members are able to visit her often. She often describes the atmosphere at Sunrise fondly. She seems very happy with the staff and the food.

Facility is very expensive. Rooms are medium size but nice. Staff is uncertified, but do treat residence great. Meds are a problem in distribution. Best advice - beware and stay alert if you choose Sunrise. Director is a "people pleaser".
