I have chosen Heritage Oaks Assisted Living & Memory Care for my mother-in-law. It's close. It was also a place where my best friend had taken her parents and they loved it, so it was also a recommendation. I only saw one room, it was empty, but it looked like a nice-sized room. It looked freshly painted, it was very convenient, and it was nice. The whole inside was nice with the fireplace, and it looked very comfy. They say that the patients there all take care of each other, they squabble a little like brothers and sisters, but they all care about each other, and that impressed me. They have things for the patients to do. They have recreation, and they have a great big courtyard with flowers everywhere. It's just very spacious, it's very well thought out, and it's very well put together. The staff only took 30 minutes to show us everything, but she did it in a really fine manner. I was very impressed with the looks of it, the feel of it and the comfort of it, and the way the people there were smiling.

The whole Heritage Oaks Assisted Living & Memory Care building is built in a circle. One-half of it is assisted living. The other half is memory care. There are two areas there. One has a pretty large screened-in porch, and then the other area is not screened in, but it's open and it's covered by a large awning or roof in the back so you can sit out in lawn chairs back there and look at the area that's enclosed. That's the inside of the circle that goes around the assisted living room. The facility seems larger. The lady that gave me the tour was very nice. She was the director there. They had an outbreak, and so they shut down everybody within their rooms. The hallways were very wide for two wheelchairs to get down there at the same time, or a nurse with a cart and a wheelchair, without bumping into each other. Some of the rooms had a door that led to the park (if you got one of those kinds of rooms). The rooms were also adequate in size and they were clean. Like someone had come in and vacuumed the area and wiped everything down and dusted. So there was no dirt. The place smelt very nice. I met the nurse on call and several of the people that were working there, like the people in the dining area, and the man who serves the plates to the tables. I got to see some of the menus that they normally supply and everything was done in there. I met one of the ladies whose mother is there as well, and she said her mother has been there three months and just loves it there. They have a little gardening area and a special kind of turtle that stays out in the garden area. They have classes if you want to learn how to make food for the turtles and be a part of the turtle feeding group. That's an activity that they do that's different. The dining area seems to be larger because it's one large room with several tables. There is another large room for you to watch movies. They do a lot of activities. They have a bus that runs like a transportation service to doctors once a week and they go a certain time to one place or another.

I went to Heritage Oaks Assisted Living and Memory Care. I thought it looked very nice and well maintained and again, I have a friend whose father was there years ago for about six months to a year, I think. So, it's not a bad place to be. The staff was very knowledgeable, very informative. It looks like everybody is sitting in the lunchroom, and everybody seems to be enjoying the food. It looks a little organized and a little laid out.

I toured Heritage Oaks Assisted Living & Memory Care, and that would have been my second choice for my mom. What I liked most is that they have on-site physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech therapist. Their memory care (although it was in a separate part of the assisted living) seemed like it was an okay place. It was fairly clean, for the most part. It was an older building, but it seemed kind of dark to me. They had a lot of dark green paint and just seemed kind of dark. It was just my perception. As I walked in, it was very dark in the hallways. There was a common area where people were eating lunch that had more windows. Overall, it just seemed not as welcoming and inviting. The staff was wonderful. I really loved all the information that she gave me. I loved her as a person, I just didn't like the feel of the facility.

Heritage Oaks Conroe was lovely, it was a really nice place. The staff members who assisted me were really nice, and I went there three times to check it out. Everything was beautiful, it was a gorgeous place. I saw some exercise type classes and they had a group come in to play music for the residents. The staff was super sweet.

Great facility! My Dad has lived here for over two years. The care partners are awesome and take excellent care of my Dad. They truly care about the residents. There were some staff changes earlier this year and things have improved tremendously. The management staff are wonderful and very professional. They have many activities for the residents.

Heritage Oaks is wonderful. My mother-in-law had fallen before she went in and broke her elbow, but she's getting therapy there and the people are really nice. She seems to enjoy it and has done wonderfully. The place is very clean and does not smell. I could not imagine what else they could have in there. We're really pleased with the price.

This facility is a shell game. They make it look good up front-aesthetically pleasing-but it is fake. The majority of residents are in their room most of the day, a live RN isn't to be found on site-which unfortunately is legal in Texas-aides do everything from ADL assistance, to CNA work as well as give meds (despite lack of education in doing so). Activities are just a ruse to make it seem as though not only that they offer them but that the residents participate in them. The activities aren't even things the residents can do or have an interest in. The library is a joke since most people need magnifying glasses to read and those are not available. Meals are scantily repetitive over the course of a month and I can't with certainty say that they are healthy. Hot dogs anyone for elders with high blood pressure.

I like Heritage Oaks. It’s a large place, and they do many activities for their residents. The apartments looked great, and their dining room is wonderful. They have a library and church service. I feel that this is a better place for my mom.

Heritage Oaks was just as nice as another place I visited, and the price was the same. The gentleman who showed me around was the maintenance guy. He was not the person who was in charge there, but he was super friendly. They had lots of activities for them to do. It was very nice. I just went up there for prices and did not expect a tour, so that’s great. I thought the rooms were nice.

Heritage Oaks is stunningly new, but it’s my least favorite because of its price tag, and it’s not going to be enough care. You need to be pretty independent and be able to pay for the newness of everything. It’s super nice, but I don’t think there’s enough help. They have a lot of meeting rooms that families can reserve. I think they also have restaurant-style ordering.

I thought Heritage Oaks was an excellent facility. It had good food and projects, and it was safe. It was a little more than what we wanted to pay because it was outside Houston. The rooms were a little small, but it would suffice.

I visited Heritage. The marketing director gave me a tour, and she was very cordial. We went to the dining room area; I met the chef and walked through the serving line. The model apartment that I saw was very nice and very inviting, and it looked very livable. In the tour, she showed me the activity area and the activities that the residents could participate in. However, there was no activity going on when I was there.

Heritage Oaks had the same security as most of the other ones. There wasn't anything special. It was close to where my in-laws live, but it wasn't close to our house, and we just looked at it to see what it was like. For the memory care, the rooms were smaller, and they didn't have anything kind of unique for a couple. The staff was very nice and everybody was always smiling. There were people that my in-laws know and that live there, so that made it nice for them if they were going to live there, but it was too far from my home.
