My mom is now at Winkler Court - Carthage, TX. I like that everybody is friendly, and everybody tries to find the answers if you have questions. The place itself looks nice. Everybody has their name on their door or something that sets them apart from other people. There's a bunch of jigsaw puzzles that people have put together. They frame them and hang them up on the walls, so it's really colorful. There's a beauty parlor, and I think you're able to bring in your own stylist or a barber or whatever, and they let them use that. They have an inner court that doesn't have any access to the outdoors. If the resident is not supposed to be outdoors, they could just wander in the inner courtyard, and they're safe the whole time. All the doors have alarms on them in case somebody wanders. Everybody is really helpful. I don't have any complaints about the staff. They said they geared their diet towards patients with dementia and then they accommodate other diets like diabetes or low-salt diet and things like that. The biggest meal of the day is at lunch, and the lighter meal is in the evening. At breakfast, you can have eggs any way you want, so it's pretty much your choice what you want for breakfast. The place is seasonally decorated. There are fresh plants outside and in the courtyard. They have a lot of activities. Every month they reward like 4 or 5 people who were most helpful to other residents without having to be asked or somebody asking them to do something. The reward is you get to go in a limo out of town to a restaurant.

It was great. They've been wonderful. As a matter of fact, they keep going over to my parents and bringing them dinners, but my dad is not ready yet. They're really nice and awesome. The place was clean. I can't imagine anybody not wanting to live there. The rooms were really nice and big, they had kitchens, and their bathrooms had grab bars and wheel-in showers.
