I give Parkwood Independent Living the highest marks! the floor plans are open and spacious. The food is excellent - my family and I ate there many times with our loved one. The staff was not only kind, caring, and professional, there was little turnover which is a big indicator that the management and staff work well together and are happy. I have visited friends in other facilities in the area but Parkwood is still number 1 in my book.

My favorite of the ones I visited was Parkwood Independent Living. My mom wants to go see it when she gets out of rehab next week. The property feels like home and does not look institutional. The clubhouse in the center is very tasteful, beautiful and inviting. Then you step onto a covered walkway and walk into your own apartment, which gives the residents a sense of apartment living versus institutional living. Some apartments on the ground floor have a small fence in the backyard. The front patios were decorated and the apartment itself was in mint condition. There's a brand new carpet when somebody moves in. They provide carpet cleaning for the residents free of charge twice a year. Another impressive feature that's included in the price is weekly housekeeping and linen changes on the bed. Most of those other places didn't have that. And the staff who gave me the tour was very knowledgeable. She even had a family member who lived there. With regards to food, they include two meals a day, seven days a week. The building is very well maintained, too.

It is not easy to downsize and move. I have found the move to Parkwood to be the right move for me. The apartments are very nice and the staff works hard to meet our needs. We are blessed with an excellent and caring staff. All new residents are warmly welcomed to the Parkwood family. We enjoy many activities together- games, music programs, special events, trips to eat out, Sunday morning church services, Bible study, visiting with neighbors and of course good meals together. I am thankful and blessed each day to be part of the Parkwood family.

Parkwood was a blessing for our family. When I needed a place for my Father in law Parkwood was my first choice. When I walked in, Kim King walked me through everything this property had to offer. My Father in law has been there 18 months & loves it. He has friends and his independence since losing his wife. I have referred to a friend and her Mother now lives at Parkwood. Do yourself a favor & visit this amazing place for your elderly parents.

My mother lived at Parkwood for almost the last ten years. We recently moved her to another facility because she needed more care and assistance. I can say nothing but good things about my experience with the staff and how well they run the property. They always had my mothers best interest in mind and took very good care of her. I can also say that the price to live at Parkwood was very reasonable and did not increase much over the years she was there. Thanks to all the staff that made her years at Parkwood very enjoyable.

As a frequent visitor of a resident of Parkwood Independent living, I would like to recommend this facility to anyone who is looking for the best senior living accommodations! The staff are professional and caring. The kitchen/dining area and community rooms are clean and well maintained. Resident apartments are spacious, well designed, and provide a patio, as well as storage availability. The beautiful green space is a definite plus! Pets are welcome, too! My friend is involved with several optional activities, e.g., puzzle playing, mahjong, bean bag boarding, Bible study, library, hair/nail salon, and planned special events. A spacious van is professionally driven for necessary and outings. Overall, happy staff and residents! Food provided is top notch! When I am in need of a living arrangement such as this, I would be blessed to live at Parkwood Independent Living in Bedford, Texas.

I will be moving into Parkwood Independent Living. The tour that I had was excellent. The woman who gave me the tour and gave me all the information was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. When I first walked in, I thought it was a really nice place. Everything was just what I wanted. It was perfect. They seemed to care about their residents. I met some of the people, and they were friendly. They had a lot of activities included with the cost. It was just exactly what I was looking for. The receptionist and I were talking while I was waiting for something, and she was just very friendly. I was very impressed with the workers that I met. The dining area was very nice. It looked very comfortable. Everything was spaced nicely. It was like going into a friend's house. It was very comforting and very inviting. They had a lot of trees that had no leaves yet because it was winter, and there were gazebos in the middle of each courtyard for each building. It was not an overly large complex. There were 3 buildings, plus the clubhouse building. There were covered walkways from one building to the next. They had a workout/exercise room. And during the day, they had structured exercise classes. They had church services there on Sundays, both Catholic and Protestant, which I thought was amazing. They just had a lot of games. The cost included water and sanitation. They had housekeeping that came in once a week. They had nice and large walk-in showers. You would get 2 meals a day, which was breakfast and lunch. Because I still work full time and won't be there for lunch, they could either deliver it to my apartment for $3, or they could put it in a refrigerator and then I can come pick it up when I get home and have it for dinner. And it made me happy to know that. There was good parking. They had structured board game days but you also could find somebody to play games with. They were older buildings, but not ancient. The apartments were renovated, and you could tell they've done a great deal of work and everything just looked nice. There was no worn-out furniture or anything like that.

The staff is great, very kind and considerate. Everyone always greets me by name at lunch. The management has been here for a long time, and things run well. The grounds and facilities are well kept, and with all the trees, you get the feeling of outdoors. I’ve been more active and involved since moving here, and my friends and I have so much fun at lunch. I fell very lucky to have found Parkwood!

Parkwood is so much like an extended family for us caring for aging parents. We have been part of the community for over 6 years and literally not one complaint. Mark, Kim, Reggie and the crew go above and beyond to make sure every resident and their family is made welcome and cared for. There is nothing like seeing Grandpa’s face light up telling us about winning at games or the entertainment.

The staff are very supportive here. EVERYONE knows my name. That's important, because if I don't show up at a meal when I'm expected, someone comes to my room to make sure I'm all right. If I am having problems with my room, often Executive Director or his assistant will personally come to take care of it. I heartily recommend Parkwood to anyone who needs to move to a retirement community. In addition to the excellent food and living facilities, they provide a wide variety of recreational activities such as Bingo, trivia and word contests and musical entertainment. I am VERY happy that I moved to Parkwood.

My older sister decided earlier this year she wanted to sell her home and move to a retirement apartment. Her long time neighbor had moved to Parkwood last year so she wanted to look into possibly moving there. Kim took us on a very informative tour of both the one bedroom and 2 bedroom apartment options. My sister opted for the one bedroom and moved into her apartment in April 2023. Her apartment had just been totally cleaned, painted and had new carpeting when she moved in. We were informed they do this each time an apartment is vacated. She is so pleased with her new apartment and all that Parkwood has to offer. She is on the second floor and has so much shade provided by the large trees around her building. She is very pleased with all that Parkwood provides and is so very impressed by how friendly and kind all the staff members are. As her sister I want to say THANK-YOU for making this move so EASY for my sister.

My dad is a current resident. I started the process about a year ago on finding a community for my dad to still be independent but also have help if needed. I went to multiple communities (help with home for mom). When I first toured Parkwood I really liked the apartments, you had your own place, not inside of a building, down a hallway like a hotel. Lots and Lots of shade trees, sidewalks, gazebo to sit around. Very quiet area and so close to hospital and Dr's. If I was looking for myself I would have chosen here. My dad has taken a bit to find his way from a house to a small 1 bedroom apartment, but he now participates in some card games and social activities. Everyone and I mean everyone is very nice and friendly! Housekeeping, food, can put a fence around ground floor patios for dogs. So many amenities/social gatherings to help residents enjoy their new home & meet the residents. Really great place! I would recommend Parkwood to anyone looking for themselves or loved ones for independent living.

We are so thankful we made the choice to move our mom to Parkwood. The staff go over and above to meet the needs of the residents. We have personally experienced their immediate response in medical emergencies, their desire for each resident to participate and feel included in activities, and their day to day care for the residents. They communicate well with the families and truly give 100%. Our mom is very happy living at Parkwood and we would highly recommend it to others.

My mother in law lived at Parkwood and loved it. She liked the trees and the open airy feel of the community. Her apartment was great, it had a nice kitchen which was important because she liked to cook and bake. It also had a large patio and she enjoyed having her plants and sitting outside. Her apartment was very comfortable and the community is well maintained. The staff and residents were so friendly, it's a very welcoming community. Parkwood has a family atmosphere and a caring staff that's always willing to go the extra mile to make the residents happy.

I did a tour of Parkwood Independent Living. It was nice, but I think it's way overpriced. The staff was very sweet and caring. Their lunchroom and breakfast room were very nice. The apartments were a little old and outdated, that's why I was thinking the pricing was outrageous; it had nothing to do with the people, they were very kind. The food services looked great. We went in at lunch, got to see things and try the food and everything. The apartments were pretty outdated, and I just think of the crazy amounts of money for them. It's $2600 or something for a one-bedroom. The staff were great. They did have amenities. They had a transportation van that could take you places. They did bingo, music, and different things and activities. They have a lot of stuff on the ground, and they had different people come in for activities, that was awesome. We did try the food there and it was good.

I have visited Parkwood Retirement Community. It was a pleasant place. The upkeep was great. The person who assisted me was very receptive and very enjoyable to talk to. We were there basically during lunchtime, so we didn't see any activity. They have a very nice salon. I know they have some cooking thing going on that you could be involved in. They have a walking trail nearby, and there's a medical center very nearby.

I toured the independent living side of Parkwood Retirement Community. It's very nice, the apartment was very nice, and everything was really nice and well organized. I think my aunt would love living there. The person who assisted me during the tour was Kim. She was amazing, very knowledgeable, very kind, and willing to help. She was awesome. It became lunchtime while we were there so we could smell the food cooking and it smelled delicious. We didn't have any of it though. We were told that they have movie nights and they have a night once a week that they go to dinner and different things like that. I think the accommodations seemed very adequate for something that my aunt would be happy with.

My mother has been a resident for almost 9 years. Having previously lived in her rural home for over 60 years, I wasn’t certain how she would adapt to apartment living, but the entire staff at Parkwood immediately made her feel a part of the “Parkwood family”. Many of the staff who were there when she moved to Parkwood are the still there today! There’s no need to repeat what others have said about the wonderful staff, numerous amenities, and the variety of activities available to residents, but I do want to mention how impressed I was with the way things were handled during the Covid 19 closures. Yes, protocol required the dining room be closed and clubhouse activities be cancelled. This required meals be delivered to the residents in their apartments, but the activity director went “above and beyond” to make certain that the residents weren’t isolated. When weather permitted, concerts, games, and activities were brought to each of the three building’s outdoor courtyard/gazebo. Social distancing was practiced, but everyone was encouraged to participate. This kept the residents engaged, but in a safe environment. Also, each year Management makes arrangements for convenient in-house flu vaccination clinics, but this year they also held Covid vaccination clinics as soon as the vaccine and booster were made available for seniors. I appreciated not having to spend hours searching for an appointment time and making Mom wait in long lines to receive the vaccination. These are just two small examples of many why I feel so thankful to have found a home for Mom at Parkwood. I can't thank the entire staff enough for all they do - they are wonderful. The care and respect they show everyone is so greatly appreciated.

I was very impressed with Parkwood Retirement Community. They have gone through quite extensive renovations since my mother-in-law lived there about five years ago, and it is very nice. The people were very friendly and gave us a lot of information. They also sent me a virtual tour of the 2-bedroom apartment. It's independent living, and I went to see it just this afternoon. The staff was very knowledgeable and very friendly.

I have moved into Parkwood Retirement Community. As soon as I walked in here, I loved it. They're very pet-friendly and very people-friendly. I've been here now five days. The food is to die for. It's wonderful. They even have oatmeal in the morning. They're just delicious meals. The chef is doing a wonderful job. I like the fact that the facility is very homey and friendly. I feel truly at home in my apartment, and I haven't really felt that before. They move you in, and that was a great. It was a great factor in me coming here. They came and packed me up and moved me here, so I didn't have to worry about that. Cleanliness is wonderful. The staff and the people here are very friendly. They have bus transportation. I'm pretty new on activities, but it looks like they have pretty good activities.

My Dad was a resident at Parkwood for 10 years. He loved living at Parkwood. Dad made friends, stayed active, his apartment was great and we all LOVED the food! The management team knew my Dad and we felt kept a special eye on him. I learned from speaking to other resident family members they felt their parents were getting special treatment too. What a great feeling to know that your parents are living “independently” yet the peace you get knowing there is an extra set of eyes watching out for them. Sadly, our Dad “outgrew” Parkwood and was unable to live independently and we decided he should move in with my sister. When it came time for my husband and I to find a new home for his mother (mom) we immediately contacted Parkwood! Luckily, Parkwood had a vacancy, and we were able to move Mom in! She has been a resident for almost three weeks, and she LOVES Parkwood like my Dad did. She has made friends, is active and LOVES the food! Here is to Parkwood! Cheers!

We toured Parkwood Retirement Community. I did a virtual tour and then I did an in-person tour. It was a great tour. The staff was very informative and very helpful. The buildings themselves were older, just by the looks of them on the outside. Inside the apartments, they're way more spacious than many others that I have seen. They've got lots of space. Lots more than I thought they would have. Each apartment complex has a storage unit, not in their apartment, but outside of their apartment, so that's very nice. It's a pretty good location. There's not too much traffic and they're right near the hospital. They will provide breakfast and lunch. You can also take extra food back with you to your apartment if you want it for dinner. They also had transportation, if needed, for doctors' appointments. They also go to Wal-Mart weekly and they alternate between Kroger, Walgreens, and Albertson's. They do fun activities where they take a group of residents to see Christmas lights etc. The only thing that was different for them is that the resident has to pay for their own electricity. The facility pays for the water, the sewer, the trash, the internet, and the TV. They offer activities in their common area. They have a beautiful garden on the interior area. There is an outside garden, but it's in the center of the complex. Each apartment has a washer and dryer connection on the 1st floor. On the 2nd and 3rd floor, they do not. They have a laundromat pretty close to all of their apartments so that they can go and do their own laundry or they can pay to have their laundry done. Having only dealt with one staff member, I would have to rate that a 4. If the rest of the staff are similar to the staff member I met, or they go above and beyond like she does, I would put them at a 5. They had the most reasonable prices. The facility was excellent for the most part, but there's always somewhere to improve. I saw the dining room, but it was not during a meal.

Mom lived at Parkwood for several years and loved it. She had a large two bedroom apartment and it was very roomy. She loved the kitchen and the patio. The outdoor space is wonderful, tons of trees and grass. She was made to feel welcome from the moment she moved to Parkwood. The residents and staff are one big family, everyone is so friendly. We looked at many places in three states and this was the one that felt like "home". We cant' say enough good things about Parkwood, it was a wonderful home for mom.

I went to Parkwood Retirement Community. There was a little disadvantage there because they were still operating under strict COVID guidelines, so I didn't get to see people, or anything happening, and she said they were starting back mid-March to the use of the dining room, and other stuff. The largest two-bedrooms they have are very, very small. It would not work for us. I loved the staff member. She was wonderful, she was really, really very nice, and I liked the other women that were there. It's just difficult when you don't see anything happening. They have meals, they have exercises, a fitness center, they have a book club, entertainment, socials, and games. It's old, and it's thirty five years old. There's a difference in the feel.

We have lived in Parkwood for 5 and 1/2 years and so thankful we found a place that feels like home. The room is just what we needed as we have an extra large bedroom that I can set up my office in it. The house keeping is womderful. They clean every thing including the stove, micro wave and refigerator. The activities director is the best I have ever seen and they have some thing to do at all times even through the viris restictions they always find some activities to keep us busy. It is so nice to have a beauty shop were we don't have to go out for hair, toe nails etc. If we need a Flu shot they bring in a nurse to provide for all of that. I would rate this as one of the best and most reasonable independent living facilities in the area.

My mother has lived at Parkwood for approximately 4 years. Parkwood has been a blessing for my mother as she can still live independently and for the social activities. There are organized games, rides to the grocery store and doctor appointments, field trips, parties, music. (Pre-COVID, social distancing in effect at the time of this review). The apartment is nice, laundry nearby, grounds are well-kept, and the maintenance team responds quickly to even small requests like a light bulb needs changed. The staff are wonderful and go above and beyond and truly care for the residents. The staff reaches out to me if there is any issue or concern with my mother. I highly recommend this facility!

My parents are at Parkwood Retirement Community and it's been great. The director bent over backwards to help us get situated. I couldn't be happier with how much they care about everybody and how helpful they are to the family, and not just the people living there. Everything looks good. It's clean and well taken care of. We've had no issues at all. They have field trips, exercise classes, and trivia classes. There's always something going on. They've been very happy with the food. It feels homey.

We visited Parkwood Retirement, and it was nice. The staff was very nice, followed with us up very well, and brought us a gift around Thanksgiving. Everybody seemed happy. It was cheerful, comfortable, and had a little more space than other facilities. However, it was spread out quite a bit. There were three or four buildings, and there were a lot of ramps going up and down. It would be hard for us to get around.

We visited the independent living section, although they also have assisted living. Their large 1-bedroom apartment is nice, but the 2-bedroom is small. The place is very well-maintained, and their staff is very excellent, friendly, and personable. They have amenities like a fitness center, they also have shuttles that run every day to grocery stores or to take the seniors on excursions, to see musicals or the theater. They really do a lot of things all the time there. I liked everything about them except for the size of the 2-bedroom apartment. The people that I saw looked very content and happy where they were.
