I love Brookdale Dowlen Oaks. I think it's a wonderful community for my mom's situation. She has Alzheimer's so she's in a locked unit, and it gives me great confidence in her protection. The staff is also wonderful. Her room is perfect and it works well for her. There's enough room for her bed, her dresser, and her chair. It's a little apartment type of living. Everything is positive and it's a great community for memory care. I highly recommend it. I don't know of anything else like it. I can't say enough good things about it. They just had the Halloween party kind of thing where they decorated the place and that was nice. I came in at a very good discount. They were running a special so as long as she stays in memory care, I'm $1500 less. It should be $6000 but I'm only paying $4500 so I think that is a very good deal.

The staff at Brookdale Dowlen Oaks was very friendly and very helpful. It was clean and well-kept. There was a clear path. There weren't stuff in the hallway or anything like that. She did show us the rooms in memory care and they were good. She took us to the cafeteria in the assisted living and said that there's a private area if family comes and they want to be off to themselves. She took us also to the cafeteria that was in the memory care and there were a few people in there and it looked nice. It was just quiet because it was after lunch. My husband likes the outdoors, and I liked the fact that they had a backyard garden-type thing, a bench, a pergola, and stuff. They also had gardening. They had a raised garden for anybody who wanted to do that. The staff showed us and told us about some of the activities that they do in the memory care unit.

My tour of Brookdale Dowlen Oaks went fine. People were nice. It's a good facility. The staff who assisted me was very nice, very polite, and very helpful. It's a nice building. It's very clean and tidy. It's a welcoming place. The sizes of the rooms were nice. The dining area was very nice, big, and clean.

Brookdale Dowlen Oaks would have been our number one choice, but the outside area was just not covered at all. The room had a microwave and a tiny refrigerator, but you had to bring everything else. The only room they had available downstairs was small and I didn't like where it was because it faced a parking lot. The staff was very nice and very caring. We had lunch there but it wasn't very good.

I toured Brookdale Dowlen Oaks. Their dining area was airy, bright, and cozy. I thought it was very nice. They mentioned some of the things they have on their menu, and it sounded good. Some of it was for Cajun, and my parents are Cajun, and I know they would have liked that. I noticed that their activity schedule had a lot of activities listed, and they were preparing for a Mardi Gras party. We saw a room that is set up as a model. It was a studio, and it was very attractive. They have furniture in there so you could get an idea. The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating.

I did a tour of Brookdale Dowlen Oaks. It was nice, and they have nice people. It was also very nice and clean, but it was really expensive. They had bingo and quite a few activities. I saw the individual room and a nice studio; it was very clean. The staff was good, I met a few of them. I didn't see the food, the menu looked like it was pretty good. It seemed like everything was pretty good.

The community layout of Brookdale Dowlen Oaks was very efficient. They had a nice outside area, a dining room, and pretty spacious rooms. The activity areas are good as well. I didn't see any organized activities, but they had plenty of things on the calendar to do. Their staff was fabulous.

We found Brookdale Dowlen Oaks for my mother-in-law. They were able to accommodate all the needs that we had financially in terms of the staff, the length of time they've been in business, and they had really good remarks when we looked into it. Plus, we talked to a couple of people who worked there that family members knew, and they highly recommend them. They've been working there for a long time, so we've had some inside information too. We haven't had anything that we're upset about at all. In fact, we're really happy that they keep us in touch concerning the whole COVID thing. We get emails constantly. They keep on top of things, they've done really well, and my mother-in-law seems really happy there. She's happy with it. They don't have too much in terms of activities right now. They have a lot of things available, but they've developed COVID. Two staff members and two residents came up with it, so they've had to lock everything down again.

I was very impressed with Brookdale Dowlen Oaks. They've got a real lovely, sweet, homey atmosphere there. They're very courteous, kind, just real down to earth, and very friendly. It was a very nice place. They had everything you needed. They had a place to sit and read, a place to watch TV, a place to gather, a place to worship for church, and a place to get outside, just to be free. They pretty much had it all covered.

Brookdale Dowlen Oaks did not have a fully furnished apartment available when I visited, but once one become vacant, they go in and redo the whole thing. The apartment they showed me looked very nice, and it had all of the amenities that we would need. The staff was very nice, very informative and very interested in the well-being of the people who stay there. They had transportation, and they would take people to events like shows in town, to church, and to restaurants. They said they would provide us lunch if we made an appointment.

We enjoyed visiting Brookdale Dowlen Oaks. The staff was very informative. It's a small place, yet cozy. They had activities set up and there were different areas for different entertainment. I like that they had a baby area where if the residents wanted to cuddle up with a doll and regress to when they were parents, they could do that. There was also a workshop area with make believe tools to entertain residents as well. The staff was very pleasant. It's a nice facility, but it felt a little bit clinical. It's like an apartment building, but it's not as wide, and it doesn't have as many green areas as the others.

Brookdale Dowlen Oaks was very nice. I have nothing but good things to say about it. It's easily accessible on Dowlen Road. The room was like a large hotel room. The bathroom was handicap accessible and very nice. They had games, bingo daily, restaurant and coffee available, and there were people socializing. The atmosphere was very nice, very upbeat, and caring.

Brookdale was a little rundown facility. Also, they didn’t have a Medicaid bed. They had to put you on a waiting list for that. However, their prices were better than the other facility's. The staff was friendly. Their amenities were OK. They didn’t have a swimming pool. They did have some common areas that were OK, but there wasn’t anything to write home about.

Brookdale Dowlen Oaks was a little rundown. It was OK, but it felt more like a nursing home than anything else. The grounds were fine. The staff was friendly. The dining room was not as nice as the other facility I visited. They’re not very interested in working with Medicaid.

My mom has been in Brookdale Dowlen Oaks for a couple of weeks now. It is really a nice place, they have good food, it is really clean, and they have a friendly staff. Overall, it is just an excellent place. Mom is happy there. She has a nice-size room and a big bathroom. She is very happy in it. It has all new carpet and everything. It's got a big refrigerator in it and a sink area. It is just nice and meets her needs.

I visited Brookdale Dowlen Oaks, and it was in the process of renovating. The staff was nice, but the people that live there weren't nice. They didn't say hi. It was a little cold to my father. They did have a little courtyard out there. It was nice; it just didn't work for us.

It was a very nice place. It was very clean. They were all very nice. Overall, it was a good visit. However, I just think my mother needs one-on-one care more, whereas this is a larger facility, and I was afraid she wasn't going to get that one-on-one care there. Nevertheless, they treated us well. They were very friendly. They showed all around, and everything went well. Cleanliness was good. It was very nice and homey. There was an activity going on at that time for the residents, but some of them were sitting in, and some of them were just in the lobby or stuff, and of course some of them were in their rooms.

Food is excellent. Most of their staff have good work ethic. There are some out there who just want their paychecks.
