I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My brother is at Baytown Rehab Center. They have physical therapy and three meals a day. So far, it has been very good. I like their staff; the majority of them are helpful. They have activities and some music too. There are some things that are outdated, but other than that, there's nothing you can't work around.

I visited this facility

Baytown was a little bit better, pleasant, it had a good entryway, and you don't get that scent of sickness. I knew people that stayed there, and again, the problem was the lack of staff. The staff member that showed me around was very friendly, and was willing to answer questions about the facility. They have physical therapy, activities for the residents that can attend, and they keep them engaged. They have people come in and do shows for them.

I visited this facility

Our mother was evacuated from her home due to Hurricane Harvey. She is on hospice and she is blind. She is not able to push a button and ask for help. For several weeks my sister, who is a nurse practitioner has been staying at night with mom, our step-father sits with her during the day. The facility will no longer let my sister stay at night. Our mother cannot use her hands, she cannot see and she cannot hear. She has no way to ask for help. She is recovering from pneumonia and if she chokes she has no way to request assistance. This is deplorable. We cannot move her back home because her house was flooded by Hurricane Harvey. This facility will not provide an adequate chair for my step-father to sit with her. He is 6'5" and walks with a walker. It is difficult to get up out of a regular height chair. We had a chair for him that he used for several weeks but they removed the risers that made it the correct height. Now has to sit on his walker all day. This entire situation is without humanity or caring.

I visited this facility

My experience with the Rehabilitation home proved to be very rewarding. I was gracious enough to have my grandmother check herself into this facility. The staff was very sweet. We were greeted at the door. We were told that all of her meals would be provided and that there was a personal social worker on staff. My family was delighted that all of her needs would be met. The staff even provided days in which her hair would be cut and groomed. Nice white sheets were always intact on the beds. The clean linens were changed upon a daily request. I would often visit the facility unannounced only to find my grandmother smiling and having one of their grand meals. For example, the breakfast included scrambled eggs, juice, and jelly. The supper included steak, potatoes, and stringed beans. The staff would celebrate my grandmother's birthday. I was so happy that when she became too ill they transported her to a nearby hospital. She was never mistreated by staff and a professional doctor would visit upon request.

I am a friend or relative of resident

This facility took excellent care of my mother. I could not have asked for a better place than this to put her in when she fell and broke her hip. We really thought she would never get to go home again but the therapist and staff encouraged her everyday to go to therapy and each week we watch her get stronger and strong. I will be eternally greatful to them for all they did.
