My mother is a dementia resident for several months now. And I have been very happy with her care. If I have an issue they are on top of it. The staff is wonderful. They talk to her each time they pass and call her by name. I have seen the give hugs to residents that ask and even those who don’t. Everyone needs a hug and I even get them from the staff. My biggest complaint would be in the 6 months she has been there they changed her room 4 times plus a bed change. A person in her state needs stability. She gets very confused on where or even if she has a room there. And it scares her.

This place is a disgrace. My Dad is in therapy there right now. He may get to go to therapy 1-2 days a week. The staff there really like to smoke, I can go in to visit, leave 30 minutes later and the same group of staff are still outside smoking. They must all be best friends because of the way they all congregate at the same places to talk and hang out. The call button hardly gets answered. My Dad has waited over 30 minutes for someone to even respond. I can go to the nurses station and there are usually 2-3 staff sitting there talking, eating, or on their phones. After a couple of minutes of standing there waiting, one asked me if I needed something. Yes, my Dad needs something. Let me find someone. Guess what, they don't. We have begged my Dad to move to a different facility, but this one is so convenient for my Mom to come see him almost daily. About his meds. They are NEVER on time. Nor are they correct the majority of the time. This place is a joke.

Golden Villa was small and not so many people live there. I have a lot of friends who still live there, and they're very happy with it. It's very nice and you furnish your own apartment. Each room had a little kitchenette in it. I was very happy with their facilities. They're always doing something there. People from the church come out and perform for them and kindergarten classes and different communities are always going there. All of the staff was excellent.

I'm very grateful for the care given to my father. His room was always clean and the nursing staff was awesome. Great job!

I honestly don't even know where to begin. The employees seem to be enjoying their jobs, I have walked in and seen them hanging out back smoking...only to leave 30 minutes later and the same group is still there smoking and laughing. They are a close knit group of friends as demonstrated by they "hall parties" where they congregate and talk. Everyone needs a break, but this is a tad much. When asking for a simple item like a glass, the helpers can not be bothered to leave their group conversations to assist. Thirty minutes later I went and scrummaged through the kitchen and found a glass, when I walked by them they all spoke a friendly "hello". One seemed to vaguely remember the glass and said "oh, ....good you found one". Medicines are not given on time OR correctly. The nurses "change" the doctors orders or claim they "misread" "didn't see" or "didn't understand".People mess up, but of an 11 day stay the patient was only given CORRECT MEDS, ON TIME, FIVE OF THOSE DAYS. Meds are important to sick people. I wish they knew this. Each time I have spoken with a nurse I genuinely leave and pray for them because they are so overwhelmed and SO stressed. They want to push everything to the next shift because they can not get all of their work done. That's frustrating for family members of patients that aren't getting their meds, and have to wait until the next shift comes in... and guess what.... they don't want to deal with it either. Just trying to have a 30 second conversation with a nurse turns to a 5 minute ordeal with: patients bombarding them (mostly because no one else will help the patients), CNAs questions and comments, other family members trying to get answers...., I seriously don't know how they even know their name by the end of a shift. On 4 different occasions Ive asked 4 different nurses about medications being given, none could answer within an hour and three never could determine if they were given or not. Only one bothered to actually find out... found out they weren't but at least she had someone give them two hours late. In our last episode, the nurse just said the patient really didn't need the medicine anyway. I'm glad she has an opinion, but its frustrating to have the doctor come in behind the nurse and roll his eyes stating "he wished he had her expertise in medicine" There is no other option for a nursing home in the town... so this is what we're stuck with.

Most of the staff are very nice with the exception of a few. The call bell in the rooms are usually not answered in a timely manner. I needed assistance with my grandmother and pushed the button and waited for several minutes before going to the nursing station and then waiting a few minutes more for 2 employees to finish their personal conversation before they asked if I needed help. I did not see any staff member wash their hands between patients which is the first line of defense for prevently spread of infection. The floors were dirty, baseboards were dusty and several holes in the drywall had been poorly patch. One patch was near the baseboard and I saw black "stuff". Not sure if it was mold or not but the room looked as though it had been recently painted and the black "stuff" had bled through. This was on an exterior wall so could be mold from water damage. When I brought these issues up with the director of nursing she became very defensive. Would not recommend this facility to anyone.

I was favorably impressed with Golden Villa. On my walk to the area, it was brightly lit with happy colors. I have been in all kinds of facilities, and you would expect a certain aroma or smell. It was not there. The place looked clean, and the place smelled clean. When I saw the room, it was quite clean, organized, and very well kept. Now my cousin is a very picky person with a a food obsession. She doesn't give outright compliments without any comments. But she told us the food over at the cafeteria is fine. The residents appear to be content. Overall, I was fairly impressed.

The facilities were very accomodating, but the best part was the staff. The staff actually cared about the people living there. The whole staff knew all the residents by name, and the residents seemed to enjoy having the staff around. One of the staff members told us that even on her days off, she stops by to visit. I have enjoyed every time I have visited.
