I toured Countryside Senior Living of Athens. I didn't like anything about it personally. It was rundown. I didn't see any nurses walking around. I didn't see any care at all. It was old, and it was not what I was expecting. They didn't look like they took care of anything. I was not happy with it, so I wouldn't put my mother, my sister, or anybody else in there. The structure of the building was bad. It's old and smelly, and it just didn't look clean. The layout wasn't too good. It had a living room. It had a bedroom, a bathroom, it had a little place for a little fridge, and a microwave. Other than that it wasn't too bad, but otherwise people were just sitting there and there was no help. I mean, literally the lady in the dining room was kind of helpful, but the lady that let me show me the room, she didn't even know I was coming. She had no clue.

We chose Lakeland House. It's a small community. I like the people there, and I'm impressed with the tenants. They take them shopping, walking, and I know they play bingo and cards. My sister has an apartment with a very tiny kitchen, a place for a table, and a couple of chest drawers. It's a good place.

The people from Lakeland House were wonderful. It was good, but what I didn't like was the décor. It made me feel like I was in a nursing home. Frankly, everything else was good. I had a meal there and rheir food was good, but I've tasted better at other communities. I like the room. It wouldn't take a lot of walking, which is great for my mother. I wouldn't say it was spacious, but it was big enough.

We had to move our Dad in a few months ago. He was reluctant at first but once he adjusted he is happy he moved in. There are several men that live there and he visits with them before meals. They have several activities he can choose from to do if he wants to. He enjoys the food and is finally gaining some weight back. The people that work there are very nice and Dad says they are really good to him.

There isn't a place that treats people any sweeter or takes better care of them than at Lakeland House. There has never been a place that seems to care and shows such individual attention to everyone that's there. My mother is in there. It's more like a home with a living room, big TV, and comfortable chairs where they can all go and visit. There's a lovely dining room, where people sit at tables of four. They ask if you would like tea, Kool-Aid, water, or whatever you'd like to drink. They also have a choice of lunches; they ask you what you would like and bring it out like you're in a real dining room, and if you're not well that day, they'd put the food on a beautiful tray and bring it to your room and present it to you like you're in a 4-star hotel. They have crafts, bingo and live singers who come in to entertain the people who live there, so it's a wonderful facility. They have two backyards with beautiful trees and are surrounded, so no one can get in except for the people who live there. You could have your family over for a barbeque, and there's a big, nice patio with chairs where you can lounge. It's enclosed, so it's safe.

We just moved my relative to Lakeland House, and she's very happy. The people who helped us move in were very nice and cordial. She has a studio with a bath, a kitchenette, a bedroom, and a little sitting area. It's nice, clean, and newly painted.

Lakeland House has been great for mom. Since she has moved in her health and depression has greatly improved. The staff are great and the food is excellent. Mom is happy there and so are we.
