My mom is in Family Care Alternatives. It's been good for the most part. They've been helpful. She's just been there for a little over a week, so we're still making some adjustments and acclimations for what her needs are. She does have more extended dementia, so there are some issues with what's going on with her there, but they've been providing a good quality of care. I feel like I can sleep at night not worrying that she's not being cared for or she's not safe since they've been doing whatever they need. It's been a very good placement to have her there. When my sister and I went there to meet with them and talk with them about possibly moving my mom there, our overall impression and the reason that we chose to go there was that it was within our budget, and it was somewhere that was close to us. What we could tell about the place is that the residents there were well cared for, they were respected, and they were clean. The facility was clean, and the overall atmosphere was very calm and serene. Everything was clean and orderly. We met in the common area where some other residents were sitting there watching TV or just sleeping, and there's people in other rooms because it's a house. As we're sitting there, you could hear a couple of people ringing the bell, and the person we were talking to, one of the staff said, 'Could you excuse me? I need to go check on this person.' I said, 'No, I appreciate that you're taking time to go meet with somebody and attend to their needs.' So that made me feel better than whoever is there is being cared for. They were very kind and very accommodating. It was more like a home environment. They have 12 residents there, so it made both me and my sister feel comfortable that my mother would be cared for, that she would be listened to, that she would be safe and in a good environment. It's been a positive experience for us, so that's why we chose to move her there.
