My friend was at Landmark of Amarillo. The nurses were very attentive and they were able to keep my friend comfortable. The administration was very communicative and they let me know what type of care to expect and what needed to be done. They were very sensitive and understanding of my friend's needs. It's an older facility. Parts of it did seem like it needed a little updating, but that was mostly just cosmetic.

Compared to other nursing homes that I've been in, Plum Creek provides above average care by the CNA'S and LVN'S. The facility is organized by units which houses 20 private rooms overseen by 1 LVN and 2 CNA'S on the day shift; night shift 1 LVN and 1 CNA. The staff is well qualified and the CNA'S provide excellent personal care. The staff is attentive to my needs and considerate of my need for privacy. I can't praise them enough, they are above average in providing care. Having the facility organized by units is positive in that it forms several smaller "communities" within the larger facility where residents can develop relationships with others and also share activities such as puzzles, arts and crafts, reading, watching TV. Having private rooms increases a resident's well-being in that it offers a safe, comfortable place to unwind from stress and to watch TV or listen to music without disrupting a roommate. It also eliminates the stress of having a roommate such as conflicts and personal differences. It is also nice to be able to personally decorate your room as you see fit. Plum Creek has an activity Dept that provides activities that enrich the quality of life amongst its residents. Some of the activities that are provided are Bingo, exercise, movies, penny auction, cooking, arts and crafts, shopping trips to Walmart, and much, much more! The facility has wheelchair accessible van that is used to take residents to their Dr's appt and also to community-based events such as sightseeing Christmas lights and going to the Botanical Gardens. The dietary staff provide nutritious food and accommodates all diets. The only negative thing I'll say is that it sometimes lacks appeal and is bland, but that may be due to the type of diet I'm on. One downside to staying at Plum Creek is that the faculty looks outdated. It could benefit from a remodeling. The residents rooms are poorly lit and the walls are drabby. I've stayed at 4 other facilities before Plum Creek and all had their positives and negatives associated with them Overall, I've received better care at Plum Creek as evidenced by reduced hospital stays and no falls. I have and would continue to recommend Plum Creek to others.
