My father is here. The rooms are nice, but not super fancy. The food is good and served in a good way. The staff seems great, too. They bring in people who sing, they had a magician, and they have walks and outings. They've got a calendar with all the different activities. The building is a little older.

Kathy was wonderful. She did the tour and we got to meet the chef and he was great. Those are the only two people we talked to. Kathy did a great job explaining, and I love the brochure that they had that gave all the information about Asher Point of Amarillo. My husband and I didn't know that my mother-in-law is not crazy about elevators, and the available rooms were going to be on the second and third floors. Cleanliness and upkeep were great because they were remodeling rooms. Kathy said next year they're going to remodel the interior, which will update it and make it more modern. The rooms were great, but the inside not as much. It was very clean. It just came down to the elevator. There was a small patio when you first walked in. Kathy pointed out something in the back where you could park but my mother-in-law isn't going to have a car anymore. I think you can walk around it, but it didn't have the lovely areas to sit at that the other places had.

Today is my uncle's last day at Asher Point of Amarillo. We will be moving him out to another facility tomorrow. The staff at this facility is not dependable as far as not even knowing what the rules are or they contradict each other. It says that it's a non-smoking facility. The hall leading down to where my uncle's room was reeks of smoke. So, we kept his door closed and put air fresheners outside of his door because it smelled so bad. And every time we said something, they were like, oh, well, the residents will open their doors or the windows and smoke. And I'm like, but your lease says it's non-smoking. Well, we can't control everybody. So they just blew that off. They did not care for the fact that my uncle was disabled. He is not able to jump up out of bed at night and get in the bathroom. So he kept a hospital urinal next to his bed, and he would use it at night, and he would empty that. He's never asked the housekeeper to empty it. She felt uncomfortable with that being in his room. Therefore, they took his housekeeping away six months ago. We didn't know this. So they've had the knowledge that they've had an 80+ years old disabled man down there with no housekeeping, with no help. So, his place was awful by the time I was finally contacted and brought in as his power of attorney, medical, and power of attorney. And so that's why I'm taking him out of there, moving him. The place is rundown. He has a broken window. He has holes in his carpet. He has a faucet that keeps falling off in his little sink area, and they state that they will not fix these things until he moves out. And that's their policy, they don't fix anything within the units until the person is no longer living there. I don't think that it was initially like this in the first few years. We would go visit him, and it wasn't bad. But on periodic visits over the last two years, we've noticed that the place is becoming more rundown on the inside, and he's been complaining about the meals and that the staff was not open to discussions about his place.

I went to look here. Kathy was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the facility and about the issues and problems that the elderly have. It's a very nice place and very clean. We were very impressed with the whole setup of the facility, the amenities, and everything that it offers. I think it's a great place. I love the layout, especially one of the rooms that we looked at. We viewed three different sizes of rooms, and the larger one-bedroom apartment was great. They showed us their schedules for all the activities that they offer. They provide three meals a day to all of the residents. They provide transportation to appointments or activities that any of the residents may wish to attend or go to. I think it will meet our needs very well.

I am moving in. It was a very good community. They offered a restaurant-style menu three times a day. I'm getting a studio apartment with a kitchenette, a refrigerator/freezer, and a bathroom. It was clean and it's got new carpet and new cabinetry. They had a patio, and some of the upper floors had balconies. The staff was all very friendly.

It looked friendly and clean. The rooms were very spacious and clean, too. The person who assisted us on our tour was very knowledgeable. Every time we asked her questions, she gave us the answers that we were looking for. The food was excellent. It's very well prepared. For activities, they have exercise and ice cream socials, just different interactions.

It seemed to meet the majority of my mom's needs. The staff was good. She seemed very interested in helping us and wasn't just trying to sell us something. She seemed more concerned about getting us to the right place than giving us that place. It is an independent living, but with a lot of assistance available if you need it. The surroundings seemed nice enough. It wasn't a garden home, but it was adequate. The dining area looks nice. It reminds me of a nice hotel-type dining area. They have a library and an area for group activities like card games, dominoes, and other organized activities for the residents.

I toured here. It's an independent living, and they provide all the meals and housekeeping. They also have activities and things of that nature. It was really nice. The staff who assisted me was very friendly and knowledgeable. The woman knew about the prices and everything. I looked at a studio apartment, and it was decent. I also looked at a 1-bedroom and another on the ground floor (which was ideal for me because there I could step out on a patio they have). They're decent-sized apartments, and theyre nice. The only thing is they only had a small refrigerator and no stove (although they told me I could bring a hot plate and a microwave). The dining room was nice. I know that they have 2 chefs on board. They put on and change your sheets once a week. They also have laundry for the seniors. Overall, I didn't see anything negative about it.

It wasn't as fancy as the others, but what stood out to me was that the residents seemed very happy. The staff member we met was helpful. She explained what was being provided and answered all of our questions. The dining area was big and clean. The residents could play bingo cards and dominoes, but they have different special things each week, like maybe a Western night or a movie night, and they do decorations for all those. The only thing was there weren't any walk-in showers in the room.

We toured and got to meet the chef and we had a wonderful meal. He was very hospitable. We had several people who live there come up to us and welcome us to come to live there. I don't think they planned that; I think they just did it. But the meal was wonderful, it was definitely prepared by a chef, and it was great quality. We went and saw two-bedroom rooms, and they both have wonderful space. It was just what we were looking for as far as space, and both of them were just painted. One of them had a shower, and one of them had a step-in bathtub, and either one of those would've been something we were looking for. That was another plus besides all the rest of them. The lady that talked to us was very informative. She wasn't trying to keep any secrets of what was bad, and she certainly wasn't trying to keep any secret of what was good either. She was very informative. I'm glad we scheduled that tour. The place was very clean. The room we looked at had just been painted. Some people moved out, and for that reason they were clean also. The rooms that we looked at that were available were on the first floor, and that's something we have been wanting to get, so that was a very big positive as well. They have a beauty/barber salon, a pool room, a washing machine, and dryer. In fact, one of the two-bedrooms we looked at had its own washing machine and dryer, so that was a plus, and that would be something we would not want to miss with us going somewhere else to go and use the washer and dryer when we could do it right there in our own house. So that was a very nice one. They had outside access because they were on the first floor, and that was a real plus. The carpet was nice and new, the painting had been re-done. You could tell it had just been painted again after the last people moved out, and that was a big plus. If you wanted to, you could do gardening, and they even have a place for raised gardening and a place where you could do flower bed gardening, so that was a real plus for my wife.

I didn't see anything wrong, but I'm looking at the atmosphere and the people and feeling a certain energy. It was fine as far as cleanliness. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't inviting.

We liked the location. They had everything. They had bingo and other things. The staff was very friendly. They showed us everything that we asked for. They showed us the one-bedroom efficiency and the larger room like the one-bedroom and the two-bedroom. I thought they were very nice. They served three meals, and they had snacks all the time. They had service if you needed them to take you somewhere.

It had a very warm atmosphere. The people were very friendly, and there were many residents around who seemed very happy. The managers knew everybody's names and call them by name. It had a family atmosphere. They had three meals and ways to get them to places with transportation available, but you have to let them know ahead of time. They had on-site laundry and an area where they had games and coffee. The food was very good because they have their own chef. I was very impressed with the food. They also had prayer at the mealtime and bible study once or twice a week.

The people that we saw were very nice. The community was very nice, had a very caring atmosphere, and had happy people. It was a very nice place, and the staff seemed to be very caring. The rooms were nice and included a balcony and windows that they could look out of and see what was going on outside.

What my mother likes was the fact that she can have enough space to have all of her furniture, and she has a backdoor that she could let her dog out. She has a patio that was big enough, and she can put her swing on it. She also likes the fact that she gets three meals a day, and they have a chef, so the food is really good. The people are super nice, and she says she feels like she is at home now. They do field trips, and they have a bus that is available for them any time if they need to go to the doctor or go to the pharmacy. They have indoor activities like bingo, card games, and board games. They have a library, which she likes because she likes to read. They have an exercise room where she can go and ride the bike to keep her legs strong. She is very happy there. The staff is very good.
