My parents moved into Franklin Manor-Winchester TN, and it's about seven minutes from my house, it's also very clean. They give the residents a lot of attention and they have nurses on staff, and they monitor health. I had a call late Saturday that my dad's blood sugar was way out of proportion, so we wound up dealing with that, and had they been at home we wouldn't have probably known that. The food is excellent. They give them a lot of choices, and if they don't particularly like something they will substitute it. My dad does not like tuna, and they substituted a different sandwich for him. The activities director is very good. First, she's kind and gentle with them, and she involves them. Mom and Dad have not been there very long at all, and the other day mother had an appointment with the nurse practitioner there, so the activities director got my dad and let him play cornhole, which he won, and he was all excited, so that was a good thing. She has an exercise class, she has dominoes and cards, they do games, and they paint fingernails, you couldn't ask for more activity.

I liked the location of Franklin Manor - Winchester TN. The facility was very inviting and very light. There was lots of sunlight coming in. The staff who assisted us with the tour was very friendly and referred to residents by name. I was there when they were serving the food, and it looked inviting and smelled good. They had several different areas where you could congregate, small and large. They had laundry facilities. If the residents wanted to do their own laundry, they could. Or they could have it done by staff. They had a great front porch and they also had a courtyard.

The Franklin Manor-Winchester TN was amazing, but it is above our price range. The whole place was awesome. It was a very thorough walkthrough. I've got all my questions answered. The whole tour was great. That was the perfect place, it's just out of our price range. They got options for your meals. That was a wonderful thing because the reviews online had said there were poor choices for meals, but they give alternate meal choices. That was a good thing. The halls are wide. They're pretty good to get in and out if you had a walker or wheelchair. There are security entrances, and that was a good idea. I saw the garden, but I didn't go out into the garden because it was raining. I didn't want to track water back into the building. From what I saw, it looked like a pretty good-sized little seating area there. I saw four members of the staff. They were all knowledgeable about things. They all answered every question, and they took care of the residents while I was there. I did walk through the dining area and it's very clean. So that was good. They did have options for other meals. I don't have anything to complain about. The only issue that they brought up, they were going to replace the carpet, and it was on schedule to be replaced; but, other than that, everything was great. It's central to shopping. Groceries stores are less than two miles away, and the hospital is maybe a four-minute drive; so that's a very close range if you're going to put someone in there.

Franklin Manor is beautiful, but we could not go in initially. When we looked at it, it was just through windows because of COVID-19, but the day my mother moved in they surprised us when they gave us the rapid test at the door. We were very lucky to be able to walk in with her because that was something that was bothering me, that I was going to have to leave her at the front door and then run around and peek through the window when she entered her apartment. Since then I've only been able to visit her through the front screen. The staff members are terrific and very caring. The first couple of weeks were rough for her, so they were there to comfort her since I couldn't go in. They are limited right now because they have to social distance. They are going to the dining room now, which they hadn't done in a few months, but there's still only one person allowed at a table. The activity director does her nails and her hair, and there's no cost at this time for that. They have puzzles set up and little exercises. Most of their activities are on hold for right now. She said the food is fair to medium. What makes it really nice too is that it's small, so it's very personal. They have an ice cream parlor they can go to and get ice cream or snacks anytime they want, and she's happy about that. It's a great value. Everything is an add-on, but we don't need those add-ons at this time.

A member of our church has dementia. Her husband passed away, so she couldn't care for herself. We already knew about Southern Manor and we've already been in touched in with them. The people are great. The lady that we do business with does a good job and I would recommend Southern Manor to anybody. They'll work with you, it's a great place. They provide meals, they help administer medication and they also help fill prescriptions, so they're able to get medications when they're ready for refill. The facility itself is almost like a resort. They have a great dining facility, a hall for fellowship, the ground itself is beautiful, it has a mountain view.
