I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I have witnessed quality care by the staff and I've actually been cared for by some of these staff in past years but I've never seen such an understaffed nursing home in my life and what makes it worse is the lack of appreciation for the select few employees that truly care. I was blessed to have a sweet girl named Desiree gosh I hate that I can't remember her last name but she tended to me not only as an employee doing her job but as a friend or loved one that truly cared about me. She had to have 20 patients at least to tend to and she always made time for every one of us and not only as for her job purposes but she made us all feel human and not just a bunch of sickly elderly folks that were alone. I hope she reads this or someone above her does and realizes the rare employee that they have because if they don't I can guarantee another facility will find her and appreciate her work ethic and her heart the way Decatur county Manor should. Three stars for how the place is ran, five stars for that sweet hardworking girl as an employee and that is also so dear to me.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

The atmosphere when entering the facility is quite refreshing and pleasant. There are several nurses in the halls and around the corners in the dining room, library and living area where the people living there can have a good time. Many of them will play games such as checkers or chess but mainly bingo is the big game among the majority of them. To the corner of the entertainment room is a piano where local pianists may come to play for many who stay at the assisted living facility during the time some of the staff will participate with the residents in clapping there hands and singing with the music playing. The facility is generally quite clean in comparison to not being cleaned daily, which I have never noticed since I have been visiting my Grandmother here. They are given televisions and restrooms in there rooms that are sometimes shared with another resident. The rooms are not very large nor private enough if I say (I) was going to considered a stay here. In the time of being sick or getting well this facility would be ideal but not for living at long periods of time here. If the entire family were to visit the resident there would not be enough space in the room to see your family member nor would it be private due to the other resident, who in most situations would not be a family member. Overall this is a great facility to rehabilitate after an injury or surgery or get well but not for living. Also, I would suggest for this facility more plants and decoration to create a more home feel to the residents. It gives the feel of a hospital than a home to the residents. Overall this facility I would rate to be very good treatment, very clean, and thorough to the residents here.

Some of the staff were nice but for the most part they were extremely rude! I asked for things for my grandmother and it took them forever to get them for her and when I asked them why they told me they were busy. Now keep in mind they could not of been that busy if while my grandmother was waiting they were outside smoking! The food was constantly cold and disgusting, and lord help if you complained about it. She would get brought a peanut butter sandwich. Now the facility itself was extremely well took care of. It went through remodeling when she was there. Lord knows they could afford it with as much of her check as they took every month! I wouldn't recommend this facility for my worst enemy more or less anybodies family!

As far as I'm concerned you can not find a better place for your loved one to live , if they can't be alone. The CNA"s are the most caring people that i have ever seen in a nursing home. My mother was here for quite a while and she got the best care , better than what I could give her. The nursing staff is right there to answer your questions and Wendy does admitting and she is terrific. She does her best under the worst circumstances to get your loved one admitted even if you do not have the money. Therre meals are great the cafeteria is very nice and it's like a big family. They give the residents different things to do , like a tea party, ice cream social, picnics etc. They had a beautiful Mother's day tea for them last year in May. The housing is spotless and if you tell them you person needs something it is taken care of asap. My mom's door squeaked and it drove her crazy and them came right in and fixed it. It's little things like that which means a lot. they really care and the staff cried when we moved to Maine and I had to move my mom. they all loved her. some of them still call and send her cards. There is no place any better than Decatur Manor in Parsons Tn.. They call you if they feel you loved one needs you and you can stay right there with them until you feel they are ready for you to leave.

I visited this facility

While searching for a home for my great Grandma, I vistied Decatur County MAnor. While it didn't have some of the perks of bigger homes, it was clean and the staff was very friendly. They host events to make friends and family feel included.
