I toured Canterfield of Oak Ridge. It was very nice. The people were very nice. I thought it was a good place. My tour was not during one of their activities or anything, so several of the residents were just sitting around eating breakfast. However, they have some gardening areas where people can go out and do some gardening. I saw the living spaces in the memory care. They're a little bit different because there are no doors in the closet and things like that, but they were a good size, and the bathrooms were nice. They had nice walk-in showers with seats. It was a nice area. Everything was good and clean when I was there. Everything was nice and smelled nice.

Canterfield of Oak Ridge was very nice. They decorated it for Christmas at the time. We saw the ground floor where the meals were served. There's an elevator and we went up to the second floor to see one of the rooms and they were very nice. They have a really neat movie room where people can have movie nights on a big screen (that was cool!) They also exercise and have pedicures and manicures. All the rooms had microwaves, but three meals a day were served.

Canterfield of Oak Ridge was a very upscale place, well kept up, and had great staff. It's relatively new, and there's lots of activities going on. I was there at a very active time of the day, and they were bringing people in from a nice picnic. This was early spring when the weather was pretty, and they seemed to have a great time. They had a great activities director, and there's a lot going on. Of all the places I saw, this was the place with the most activity. They had bingo, other games, and a craft room. If you wanted to watch a demonstration of square dance or something, they offered that kind of thing too. Some of the residents would come and go in their own cars. It's three stories and three levels of apartments with elevators of course. It's probably one of the newer ones because you can see that it's got new decor that looks really nice. They have this 'age in place' situation where as people get older, they can have more help and move into more services.

Canterfield of Oak Ridge was a newer place and it showed. It had an open feeling when you first walk in, like a "let's get together" kind of atmosphere. The person who assisted me was very enthusiastic and really knew her stuff. She made me feel welcome. The food was very good and nicely served.

Canterfield of Oak Ridge was very nice and very clean, but they were a little bit more expensive. They have 1-bedroom apartments -- which is an advantage for them for people that don’t want that hotel room atmosphere but want more of a home. They had just a very small dorm-size refrigerator in the room for a kitchen, and they didn’t have any 2-bedroom apartments.

Canterfield was a beautiful facility, and I really liked it. It was new and had the capacity for 96 people. I thought they only had about 37, and their goal was to fill it up by the end of the year. I met the marketing director. She was very friendly and warm. She took my mother and me around. I also met the director, and we had a long conversation with her. She's very helpful, warm, and eager to fill the place. We looked at five different room styles. They had a lot of amenities and activities there.
