My wife was at Standing Stone Care and Rehab. It's absolutely wonderful. She got a shared room which is like what you would expect to see. They basically were side by side and nothing between them. They have little games and things that they play, but not nearly as many as the activities in the other place. They have long-term care there, too. It's a fairly large building. And you can go down one hall, down the other hall, back up this hall, back up to where you started, and so you can have a nice walk. They also allowed me to go out front, which my wife really liked. They had an overhang thing and a couple of benches there. They have the bedrooms, and then they have a large room with lots of chairs and tables. That's where they have the TV, and where they spend all their time there. It was all covered by Medicare. The main thing in that place was the staff. They were so wonderful, and the building was pretty nice.

My grandmother was a resident at the nursing home for over 4 years, before going home to visit her maker. I visited on a monthly basis. At first she was very unhappy to be away from home, after the first couple of months there was nowhere else she had rather be. They had arts & crafts and music time. There were lots of hands on activates she could be involved with. She loved having the visitors (local school children, girl scouts, and church groups) were always popping in to spread cheer. It was always a very clean facility and the food really wasn't that bad. The staff was always friendly and even remembered me by name (even though I wasn't a daily or weekly visitor). They also let us use their cafeteria on numerous occasions, weather it be a family birthday or everyone trying to get together to see granny for the holidays. If you are close to the Monterey area, I highly recommend Standing Stone.
