My mom moved to Royal Retreat. It was small. The staff was very professional and caring, and it fit exactly the needs that we needed for my mother. I did go for lunch and the food was good. It was on Friday and they had fish Friday, and it was very nice. They have activity twice a day and they have entertainment music piped in. So, the entertainment and the interaction with the residents have been the main plus of it. It's very worth it. It's timely and affordable, and it meets all the needs. The cost of it is appropriate.

We toured the Royal Retreat. Everything was very well kept. It was beautiful. The staff was excellent. She was very informative and very knowledgeable. She helped me a lot. She answered questions that we had. She was wonderful. She did mention that they had activities.

My friend will be moving into Royal Retreat. I like the fact that the staff is very hands-on. They were very good at explaining everything and showed us where everything was located. It's clean. It's a friendly and safe environment. It's all on one level, too. The staff seemed very involved. It's not like they were just housing them, but they were involved with their daily lives. If they don't see him, like if he stays in his apartment all day, they'll knock on the door just to check on him. I liked that. The dining is sort of in the center of the community. It's very clean. It's got small tables, so you have someone to eat lunch or dinner with. You wouldn't be sitting by yourself. It makes it more of a community. It's decorated very beautifully, too. It didn't look like a senior home. It looks like somebody's living room. I told my friend, "For the price, I don't think you're going to get anything nicer than this." They offered a meal plan which he bought into, and I thought it was reasonably priced. It's $500 a month, and that's three meals a day. Even though each unit has its own small kitchen, he doesn't cook for himself. I just was impressed with it from the beginning.

Royal Retreat was nice. It needed work done to it, but it was OK. It was clean. The lady who gave the tour was nice and professional. The dining area was nice. When she gave me a tour of the apartment, I didn't like the kitchen. It was too small. I could hardly move around in it. That's the only thing, but the bedroom size was nice and the living room size was nice. The facility looked nice, but you can tell that it's an old building.

I loved Royal Retreat. I just couldn't afford it. I looked at a studio and it was nice, but they have a waiting list. The staff was very nice. They had a dining area, a library, and a gym. The place was very clean. I didn't see anyone doing any activity. I just saw the room for the activity.

I wasn't super in love with Royal Retreat, but it suited all of my grandma's needs. Some other properties were a lot nicer. This one's a little distressed, but she's not super bougie on it, so it works for her. She has a 700-square-foot apartment with a fridge, a stove, and a screened-in porch, and it includes once-a-week housekeeping but doesn't include any power or cable or anything because it is independent. They have dining facilities, a beauty shop, a library, a puzzle room, and an exercise room. So, they have a lot of different things that are available for her. She's been able to go down and dine three hot meals a day. So, that's been nice. It's an additional $500 a month to have the three meals, but she enjoyed them. There were things that she could eat. They're soft foods and they had a little birthday party while we were there for a resident. So, it is nice. They had bingo on her second night there and she was able to participate. They also do different activities and stuff there. Compared to most of the other properties that were recommended, their price was the most affordable.

Royal Retreat was nice and the administrator was awesome. She gave me a full tour of the building to see which areas would accommodate my aunt and I was very pleased with it. The apartment was just a bit small. If you only really needed a place for the residents to stay and be safe, then I guess it would accommodate, but my aunt was in a wheelchair. Also, I did not find it accommodating with the amount of money that we were going to pay every month, plus cable, plus utilities. I thought it was all kind of wrapped into that one overall cost. It was like $1400 a month plus cable, plus utilities. The apartment had a small refrigerator and a stove so you could buy food, but if you didn't feel like cooking, you could purchase the food cart where you could eat in the dining room area with what they served everybody else at the center. That was like $450 a month. They offered activities. One lady showed me something that she was knitting. I was excited to see that there was an onsite laundry room and an onsite beauty shop, too. When you walked in, the front area was very nice and they had security.

My mom moved into Royal Retreat. Everybody's nice and it's a nice place. She has a one-bedroom, it's got a living room and a kitchenette, and it's got a covered patio in the back. There's a refrigerator and stove, the apartment-size one. They offer meals, there's a dining room, and she's kind of picky with her food. It's kind of an old building, it was built in 1965. There's a movie night and bingo. They do snacks and stuff like that.

My friend moved in at Royal Retreat Assisted Living. They just opened up in October and it's privately owned. Everything is really nice right now, been remodeled, and they have big rooms. It was a place that felt like home. The transition was great. The people are very caring. You can see how much they care and the way they treat their residents. The owner is very involved with the residents. He has breakfast and dinners with them. He wants to know what's going on. He gets involved in their lives, so he knows everything about them. My friend's room is very large, and I was surprised at the size. The shower bath is very nice. The complimentary internet and cable is nice. There's plenty of room for all of her furniture. She has her own heating and air conditioning, so she can control the temperature in her room. She has two large closets, which was nice too. The maintenance is always going on with them being a new facility. Even with all of our freezing temperatures where they have water pipes break throughout the city, they were able to bring in whatever they needed to make sure that there was adequate water. So they're on top of all their maintenance, and the place is always clean. They come in twice a day and clean the bathrooms, mop down everything, make sure everything's clean. One of the things that impressed me is when you walk in it smells clean, and it's very pretty. The nice surroundings, the eating areas, and the sitting areas are very well furnished and nice. I've never smelled an odor yet. They do lots of different activities. At Christmas, they had lots of people coming in, doing caroling and different things. They have a game room and then they go through bingo trivia. They have an exercise program that they're doing so they can be inside. As soon as the weather gets nice, they have a very large private garden area where they can go out and do things. The food is always very good and well prepared. It's always hot and always on time. Each individual can say what they like and don't like, so that they're not giving them something that they don't want.

We're living in Royal Retreat now. The appearance and layout are both fine. It's a little far to walk to take out the trash, that's the only issue we have with it. The apartment is nice, we like it, it's clean and bright. The staff is very nice and very helpful. They no longer provide any activities, they used to take us in a van and go out once a week, but they no longer do that. They do some board games and that's about it. They provide meals, but the food has gone downhill, and is passable. There's very little fresh food, all the vegetables are canned, there's not enough variety on the menu, and they no longer have dessert. They could improve if they could stop raising the cost every chance they get, and they need to work on their menu and food preparation.

After residing at another assisted living facility in Memphis, we recently moved my elderly mother into Royal Retreat and could not be more pleased! The facility is modern, clean, and updated, with professional and empathetic staff members which has provided us peace of mind and and most importantly, contentment for my mother. My mothers room is spacious with plenty of natural light and quality amenities. I would not hesitate to recommend this facility to anyone looking for quality assisted living for their loved ones.

Royal Retreat was just getting started so it still needed some work, but they were friendly and nice on the tour. They had a small stove in the units, and most of them were single rooms. They didn't have a microwave. The floors were clean. They had a cafeteria and a place where you could get your hair done, they had doctors that would come in, and church services. They gave me a sample of one of their meals and that was nice of them.
